Wij kwamen hier toevallig terecht tijdens onze reis van Haputale naar Kandy. Maar wat zijn we blij dat we dit hotel geboekt hebben. De weg erheen is nog steeds niet aangelegd dus dit is nogal uitdagend, maar dat ben je snel vergeten zodra je aankomt. De kamer en vooral het uitzicht vanaf het terras is prachtig. Ook het zwembad is heerlijk. Ideale plek om rustig te bekomen van een lange rit.

Location was absolutely insane along with the pool and staff. Had an amazing stay alltogether. We caught a good deal with genius discount for like 40€ a night with breakfast. Wouldnt mind paying even more ..We had our own private chalet along with butler and scared monkeys 😂. If road ever brings us close to it again we will definitely stay. Food was sometimes amazing sometimes decent, but never bad. Ill say again staff was really amazing

The restaurant deserves a special mention where the food is outstanding, with a wide variety of flavors. For Indian travelers, especially vegetarians, they offer excellent veg options that make you feel right at home while also letting you try authentic Sri Lankan tastes.

Mooi ruim opgezet resort met fantastisch uitzicht over de rivier vanuit je huisje. Pas wel op voor de apen want die hebben al onze was van het balkon af gegooid. Goed restaurant maar iets sfeerloos. Resort verkoopt geen alcoholische dranken dus als je zin hebt in een wijntje of biertje, moet je dat zelf meenemen of kan het personeel het voor een meerprijs in het dorp voor je halen.

Our stay at Aqua Dunhinda was truly a refreshing experience. This is a beautiful retreat for those who love nature and the calmness it brings. A perfect family getaway to reconnect with the environment and rejuvenate the senses.

From the moment we stepped onto the property, we felt completely relaxed. Overlooking the river, with its soothing sounds, gave a sense of peace as if all stress was being washed away. The chalets were beautifully done, clean, and tidy offering comfort while blending seamlessly with the natural surroundings. The food was exceptional, with a home cooked feel that added warmth to our stay. The staff were amazing friendly, supportive, and always willing to go the extra mile to ensure we felt at home.

What makes Aqua Dunhinda truly special is its commitment to staying close to its roots. The decision not to allow alcohol or a bar on the property is a wise one, ensuring the space remains true to its purpose a haven of calmness, serenity, and nature. If you’re a nature lover, or simply someone looking for a place to unwind and reset, Aqua Dunhinda is the ideal destination. We left feeling refreshed, reconnected, and already looking forward to our next visit soon.

The views were stunning. The staff were so helpful, particularly Harri who couldn't have done more for us. The food was good and the chalets were exceptional.

Fantastic forrest location overlooking a spectacular fast running river. Worth the slight detour! Excellent facilities including (very good) massages, swimming pool and hiking trails. The food we had was very well prepared. If you are looking for a place to stay in nature, this is it.

Die Lage war sehr toll, nettes Personal, gutes Abendessen, wir konnten früher ins Hotelzimmer als geplant, was sehr aufmerksam war.

Everything was amazing. The room clean and large, the view from the room was amazing. The dinner and breakfast was very taste. The portions are very big.

We stayed at this hotel for three nights. The view is truly beautiful — it overlooks a peaceful river surrounded by lush greenery and nature all around. It’s a place with great natural charm and potential.

However, unfortunately, the service and facilities were disappointing:
• The restaurant had a very unpleasant smell, there was no air conditioning, and the breakfast options were extremely limited — it was either a Sri Lankan breakfast or a plain omelet. Nothing else was offered during our stay.
• The path to the river and hotel surroundings are infested with leeches (leech worms). I was bitten badly on my way to the river — the leech stuck to my leg and I bled for over an hour. There were no first aid supplies available, and it took them a long time to bring even a bandage. I had multiple leech bites throughout the stay.
• Monkeys frequently come to the balcony in the morning. Be careful: do not leave anything outside, or it will get stolen. Also, do not leave the balcony door open, or you may find monkeys inside your room.
• There is no fridge in the room — just a water cooler, but the water is not cold.
• Shampoo and shower gel were in very small quantities and only provided when we asked.
• Towels were changed multiple times upon request, and the staff did respond when asked.
• The hotel staff were friendly and helpful, which we appreciated.
• The road to the hotel is extremely rough, dark, and isolated. Drivers asked for extra charges after seeing the difficult route, even if the price was agreed upon earlier.

⚠️ Final Thoughts:

If you’re looking for a place with a great view and don’t mind the rough nature and basic service, it might work for you. But if you’re expecting comfort, proper facilities, or hassle-free access — this may not be the right place.

We loved the nature, small tea plantation and the very well made walking trails among them, infinity pool, badminton courts, private waterfall, birds around, small bicycle ride, the view from the chalets, food, friendly staff (specially Hari) and everything + the friendly cat
