NRS Norling Retreat

Room is far from Mall road & vehicle parking is not there. Very difficult for aged persons. vehicle are charging more to reach the hotel.

No heaters in rooms, they charge for heater and it isn't very good.

The room was overpriced with minimal facilities. There was no AC or Fan in the room and the heaters were charged extra on top of the amount paid for the room. The staff refused service to procure anything outside the hotel citing unavailability of staff.

The rooms are bitterly cold and have no form of heating. This is compounded by the fact the rooms did not receive any sun during the day and is at the lowest level of the building. There was no extra blanket in the room. I requested one and it took two days and repeated requests to get one. There is no lift, despite the building having the appearance of being relatively new. To access my room was via four flights of stairs. The hotel advertises on an international website, takes our passports on arrival and we stay three days. It wasn't until we were checking out and had a time limit due to catching a train we were informed they don't accept international credit cards! Very poor form.

I booked 1king size bed but in the hotel all the rooms come with two beds attached which made the sleep very uncomfortable

We had booked for 3nights but was forced to check out after one night due to bad service and facilities.

The executive suites are in pathetic condition. Dampness and Marks everywhere in the rooms. Stains in the towel and bedsheets.
Cleanliness of the bathroom was disgusting. Stains and dirt everywhere. The room does not match with the photos as well.

No hot water in the room. We had to literally scold them to get hot waters. Because the staff used to force us to accept the cold water as hot water. They carried buckets of water which was hot according to them. Though the water was just of normal temperature. And they gave us two small buckets of water for a couple to take bath and get ready. We had wait for 2-3 hrs for this. This ruined our whole plan of the day to visit few places.

There was power cut during night. They did not turn on the power back. Even we woke up early in morning to get ready we could not even get fresh as the bathroom was dark. We had to call them and wait for the generator to get started.

And our lunch experience was hilarious. We had ordered veg fried rice, plain white rice, chicken kasha and dal fry for two persons.The portions were not even enough for one person. And to make our experience even worse the chicken kasha and dal were very salty like we couldn’t even take one bite. The server confirmed it after testing it and took it back . So to fix it the chef added hot water into it. Turning the chicken kasha into some of his own invented version of chiken curry which was disgusting and without any test. The boiled chicken they had used for making the chicken kasha started showing its true colour. So it was just boiled chicken and water with spices. The dal fry was runnier than the dal students get in government schools as part of free mid day meal.

The staff is clueless about everything. Dirts everywhere and lack of basic facilities.

Executive rooms - No view and is very costly as compared to other hotels/stays nearby. We stayed in Norling and then moved to a nearby stay for a cheaper cost with a nice view in the same area.

Hot water for the bath - Geyser is there however 24*7 non stop hot water should be there for the prices that they charge. Hot water was getting over every 2 mins which was a big disadvantage.

No room heater - Given how other hill stations include heaters in the package, the same should start happening in Darjeeling too.

The cupboard was very small.

Booked Executive suite like 4 weeks back, but still got the poorest of the poorest room. Room was very small with window which is blocked by mud wall. No ventilation due to which it smelled very bad. Couldn't sleep properly whole night due to this. In addition they charges premium money for such kind of rooms.
