The host was very kind and welcoming, she helped us with directions, gave us information on our trek to choquequirao and found us a collectivo to take us to Abancay after our stay. The breakfast was lovely, bathrooms and showers were always clean and had hot water. The rooms are very spacious and cozy. Would definitely stay here again!
Locatie, ontbijt en vooral de host. Ze is erg behulpzaam en vriendelijk. Leuke accommodaties, mooie tuin.
This is a great option before starting the trek to Choquequirao. Elizabeth was very helpful in explaining the route and arranging transport (a pick-up from the highway to Cachora and a 5am ride the next day to the start of the hike, 50 soles each). The room was simple, but spacious and comfortable enough. Elizabeth also provided dinner, although there are more options in the town centre, 10 mins walk away. There are beautiful views of the mountains from the property.
Toilets/shower are a little far from the rooms.
The wooden house was the perfect place to stay after our long hike to Choquequirao. The host was very kind and welcoming. The place is beautiful.
Relaxing place to stay before and after the Choquequirao hike with simple, clean rooms and a nice terrace with a view. Elizabeth was very friendly and helpful and made our hike an absolute breeze - arranging a pick up from the bus turnoff, taxis to and from the hike and helping us with our transport options back to Cusco. Definitely recommend.
We stayed here one night before we started our Choquequirao to Machu Picchu trek. The owner is very friendly and she even organised the pick up from Cachora junction. Breakfast in the morning was amazing - exactly what we needed before we started the first day of trekking
I stayed in the wooden house one night before and one night after my trek to Choquequirao and it was perfect! The room was great, and the bed was comfy and warm. There was a warm shower and the breakfast was good - lots of eggs with bread and jam - at flexible times. The host, Elizabeth, went above and beyond making sure I was comfortable and answering my questions even before I arrived. On the way to Cachora she personally came to pick me up from Ramal de Cachora, and on the way back managed to coordinate three taxis for me to get back to Cusco during a national strike. Thank you!
Clean and cosy room with very comfy bed
Very friendly and helpful host Elizabeth. She really made me feel welcome and is a lovely person who was more than happy to provide me with a lot of information even before I had made the booking.
Quiet location close to the town centre
Nice breakfast prepared to take away ready for the early morning hike
Must helpful and heartwarming owner. She was really helpful organizing and planning our trip in the mountains. She even cooked us supper in the last minute. Very delicious. Very clean and organised facilities.
It is clear that lots of effort has been put it to make the property a tranquil space for guests. The outside space especially is beautiful, with lots of flowers and the view of the surrounding valley is amazing. It was lovely to have access to a hot shower.
Beautiful property and the lady running it is great.
For the price, there’s nothing to complain about at all
We stayed at the Wooden House the night before our 4 day trek to/from Choquequirao, which we did without the help of a tour company. Our stay at the Wooden House was an unforgettable experience, marked by exceptional hospitality and unparalleled assistance. The host's efforts went above and beyond, making our stay not only comfortable but also incredibly convenient and memorable.
The Wooden House felt incredibly serene and private, with a surrounding wall and gate leading into a wide grassy garden space with cheerful flowering plants. There was outdoor elevated seating with rooms underneath, a main house with showers, sinks, and bathrooms, all nestled among stunning mountain views. Everything was impeccably clean.
The private rooms at the Wooden House were very comfortable, equipped with a cozy double bed and a small table. We arrived late, and the host graciously provided hot water for our dehydrated meals. The room was spotless, warm, and had Wi-Fi available. The morning we set off, our host prepared for us a delicious breakfast of coffee, tea, bread, and scrambled eggs, and then we took a taxi (which she helped us arrange) to Capuliyuc to begin our trek.
The host’s dedication to ensuring our trip went smoothly was remarkable. Most people head to Cachora from Cusco, but we were coming from/returning to Ollantaytambo. She arranged fair-priced cab rides from Ollantaytambo to Cachora and back, as well as a taxi for our early morning trip from Cachora to Capuliyoc. Despite our delays, she remained patient and helpful. She was easy to communicate with over WhatsApp. She displayed professionalism and kindness throughout, making our non-tour-company trek feel well-supported.
We would love to revisit and spend more time at Choquequirao, and without a doubt we would choose to stay at the Wooden House again. The host's amazing hospitality and willingness to go out of her way meant so much to us.
We liked everything
We stayed there one night prior to our Choquequirao trek.
The landlord kindly organized transportation to Capuliyoc and back to Cachora and even Cusco after we finished our trek. This was over the top of what we expected, she really helped us a great deal. The room was big and the beds comfortable. There was hot water in the showers as well. She also prepared us dinner and breakfast to go, as we left early in the morning.
We'd definitely recommend staying there if you plan to do the Choquequirao trek.

I waited for my boyfriend to do the Choquequirao, and stayed 5 nights/days. A well needed retreat of calm and tranquility.
The hotel is well located, a bit apart from the village, comfortable rooms and a nice terrasse to chill. Elisabeth is really nice, helpful with information, tips and logistic, she really made me feel at home. She grows vegetables next door that she can cook for dinner at a good price.
Thank you Eli for everything and for making this stay memorable 🤗
If I could put 6 stars I would ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
