After arriving in Cairo, I took an auger from the airport to this “hotel”. After arriving to my destination, myself and my Uber driver began searching for this “hotel”, it seemed to be non existent. I called the “hotel” front desk to verify the address and I was told the address I had was correct. The “hotel” seemed to be an apartment looking building. While still on the phone, the “employee” told me to cancel my Expedia trip and pay them in cash. My Uber driver was kind enough to listen in on my conversation and advise me not to go into the building and give the “employee” money for my safety. Being a local, my Uber driver expressed we should leave the sketchy area for our safety. This was a horrible experience! Please do your research when reserving hotels. Don’t be afraid to spend an extra 20 dollars a night to stay a legitimate hotel that has multiple positive reviews
The area around the hotel is pretty ruff. Camels and horses where running around at night, and lots of police are present.
When checking in, the hotel owner wanted us to pay a deposit that should have never been asked from us. Luckily, expedia sorted this out for us. Unsure if this was a language barrier or not.
But for £12 a night what can you ask for really. Our hotel room was clean, the bathroom tap was leaking but we had a great view of the pyramids.
When we needed some bottles of water the hotel staff where happy to give us 2 bottle free of charge.
