The China Hotel made us feel right at home; all the staff spoke Cantonese, which created a welcoming atmosphere.

Pros:

Strategic location with metro station right beside the hotel. The lobby reception staff Mickey was truly polite and provided great service. Our flight was at 4.55pm so we needed to leave the hotel only by 1.30pm. Mickey was so kind and considerate to allow us to checkout only at 1.30pm, giving us ample time to rest before departure. We did not use any of the facilities though, as we went out most of the time hopping the Guangzhou tourist spots. The rooms are clean. Love the automatic curtain in the bathroom. It's near Yuexiu park, a great location if you love jogging or morning walks.

Cons:

Assistance on luggage to the room will be offered only upon request at the reception counter. No sofa or chairs at the lobby. Basically you got to stand while waiting
If I were to travel to Guangzhou again. I might choose hotels in Beijing road, which I think is so convenient for shopping and food, walking distance.
It will be good if guests can choose a different type of pillow depending on individual needs
