Wo fangen wir an?
Das Basecamp Mafia Island ist definitiv eines der modernsten, saubersten und am besten gelegenen Hotels auf der Insel. Direkt am Strand gelegen, mit kostenlosen eigenen Liegen, einer angrenzenden Beach-Bar sowie einem großzügigen Pool inklusive Pool-Bar – hier lässt es sich wunderbar entspannen!

Zimmer:
Die Zimmer sind sehr sauber und werden täglich sorgfältig aufbereitet. Wir hatten ein Deluxe-Zimmer mit Kingsize-Bett und Blick auf den Ozean. Die Zimmer sind klimatisiert, angenehm ruhig und die Nachbarn waren bei uns nicht zu hören. Die Ausstattung ist umfangreich: Föhn, Duschgel, Shampoo, Conditioner, Seife, Sonnenöl und Anti-Moskito-Creme sind vorhanden – an viele kleine Details wurde gedacht.

Essen:
Das Frühstück ist gut und ausreichend: Es gibt täglich eine Ei- und Baconstation, frische Früchte sowie Toast, Pancakes und Müsli. Dazu stehen verschiedene Teesorten und Filterkaffee bereit. Ein guter Standard – wer morgens allerdings frische Brötchen und Aufschnitt liebt, muss hier leider darauf verzichten.

Mittags gibt es eine Auswahl an gleichbleibenden Lunch-Gerichten, während sich das Dinner-Menü täglich ändert. Die Gerichte für das Abendessen sollten bereits tagsüber ausgewählt werden, da sie individuell vorbereitet werden. Hier kam es vereinzelt vor, insbesondere bei veganen oder vegetarischen Gerichten, dass wir das Personal am Abend noch einmal daran erinnern mussten.

Das Dinner besteht aus drei Gängen und ist insgesamt ebenfalls auf einem guten Niveau. Von uns gibt es hier 3,5 von 5 Sternen.

Technik:
Ein kleiner Wermutstropfen war das WLAN, das auf den Zimmern an einigen Tagen nicht funktionierte. In der Lounge und den übrigen Hotelbereichen war der Internetzugang jedoch gewährleistet.

Umgebung & Aktivitäten:
Direkt am Strand gelegen, hatten wir einen wunderschönen Blick auf Chole Island. Am Strand selbst gibt es kleine Restaurants und Souvenirstände – und by the way: Wir empfehlen euch auf jeden Fall Pamelas Kitchen 😉.

La ubicación es ideal dentro del Parque Marino de Mafia. Sus jardines amplios frente al mar, la habitación acogedora, bella decoración y cómoda, el personal ha sido muy amable y acomodativo a nuestras necesidades. Recomendamos Basecamp y esperamos volver muy pronto!

Struttura oltre le aspettative. Camera meravigliosa dotata di tutto raffinata e pulitissima. Staff di una gentilezza, disponibilità, efficienza incredibili. Tutti sempre sorridenti e amichevoli senza essere invadenti. Su tutti i ragazzi della reception, il restaurant manager e le sue collaboratrici e Rey dolcissima ed efficiente su ogni richiesta fatta.

Gorgeous hotel right on the beach, with beautiful views of the bay and Chole island. The staff is very friendly and helpful, and made our stay unforgettable.

The breakfast was varied and plentiful, and the lunch also offered a great selection and was excellent. The staff were friendly and very attentive. It was my first time in Mafia Island and I stayed for four nights. Considering the staff’s professionalism and proactiveness (including Masut), as well as the cleanliness and tasteful design of the facilities, the overall standard was very high and excellent value for the price.

Raramente un posto supera le aspettative, Basecamp ci è riuscito! Dalla gentilezza e disponibilità del personale, la comodità e cura delle stanze, la bontà dei pasti e colazione (sempre con frutta freschissima). La posizione è ideale per visitare Chole e d’intorni, per fare passeggiate lungo la spiaggia e provare i ristorantini vicini. Le gite per vedere gli squali balena sono dall’altra parte dell’isola, ma raggiungibili in 15-20 minuti di tuktuk o macchina.

Basecamp Eco Lodge is perfectly situated at the beautiful white sand beach of Utende in the middle of a protected marine park. No mass tourism yet on Mafia therefore a tranquil place to fully relax and enjoy the high level of comfort and luxury that Basecamp offers with beautiful new boutique rooms in the middle of an authentic African experience in the village next to it. As the beautiful Chole bay and marine park are just in front of the lodge it is very easy to take one of the many tours.. You can easily spend 1-2 weeks without being bored as Mafia island has much experiences to offer.. There are a few diving schools in Utende at walking distance. Also a few small Swahili restaurants along the coast.
The Basecamp restaurant also served a diverse and tasty menu which changes every day.
The staff of Basecamp is amazing - they really make you feel at home and take care of everything you might need.

A beautiful resort right by the sea. We found it offered the perfect blend of luxury, nature and a relaxed atmosphere. Just the ticket for unwinding and relaxing. We particularly enjoyed breakfast every day in the lovely open-air restaurant. The seaside bar is also a great spot for a relaxed get-together. The pool is perfect for all ages too! I love the sun loungers and parasols, which, like so many other things here, are made from natural materials.
