Everything about our stay was perfect! The staff were incredible, big thanks to Isabel! They are very very accommodating with food allergies, one of us is celiac and they made sure everything was gluten free. The dinners are absolutely fantastic and the facilities are great. The pool is such an amazing place to relax and take in the nature, we were able to sit back and work there. The rooms were very comfortable. Wished we could have stayed longer.
Secret Garden is a hidden gem. It was perfect for our needs. A beautiful place to chill, relax and get away from the world. Issy is amazing, she goes above and beyond to ensure her guests are looked after. From organising transport for day trips to making sure we had everything we needed and preparing delicious food. Issy is a legend. Secret Garden is not in the city but is a haven for those that need some down time.
Mozzies were in abundance. However, there was spray and mozzie coils to help keep them at bay.
Spacious cottage, lots of places to sit with a laptop. Very welcoming staff. One of the best breakfasts we've had in Thailand.
The cottage interior looks and feels a bit old. Could do with a refresh
Niets.
We stayed at Secret Garden Chiang Mai for one week in January 2025. We enjoyed it very much. The family who has Secret Garden has given the place there own personal touch so the place has a very special charming atmosphere. The family made the most fantastic food for us both for breakfast and dinner. They helped us in every way to get the best vaccation. When we had made an arrangement with a grap for a whole day and it did not show up the mother of the family right away found another driver for us. We had good conversations with Isabell which learned us a lot about Thailand. We give the place our best recommendations. We hope to come back one day.
We had a wonderful stay at the Secret Garden. As the name suggests, it is secluded and calm. We greatly appreciated their drinks and food. Couldn't recommend it highly enough.
This is a family owned and run gem, located about 13 km outside of the city, which we stumbled across when searching for somewhere to stay in Chiangmai.
A GRAB fair from the City was THB170 (less than GBP5) to get to the resort.
The location is a large garden which has the feel of a jungle. You are surrounded by trees and wildlife and is a great place to relax and switch off. There is a pool in which you can cool off and a bar where freshly made cocktails are available.
The rooms are comfortable and air conditioned, some with verandas where you can enjoy an evening drink and take in the sounds of the wildlife which surrounds you.
Breakfast is freshly made and is amazing as is dinner if you decide not to eat in Chiangmai, you can even choose the menu.
Isabelle and her family are friendly and helpful, nothing is too much trouble for them. They work extremely hard to make your stay as pleasant and comfortable as possible.
Nothing at all.
Super charming place and wonderful and friendly staff. We loved the breakfast there, and the dining area was really neat.
We liked it all. Wish we could stay longer.
This place is just wonderful!! It truly is a secret garden with beautiful lush gardens all around. Even though the property is great, the best thing about this place is the family running it and the people who work there. They make everyone feel so welcomed and included! We so enjoyed meeting them and also all the other guests at the daily breakfasts and also dinners if you choose. (The family offers delicious dinners every evening except Sunday for a very reasonable price, you just have to let them know if you want it in the morning). They also have a honor bar and all the drinking water you want. I think this has got to be one of the best places I’ve ever stayed just due to how we were treated. Also for us it was great that the owners spoke perfect English and I think some other languages. Our accommodation was a little different from most of the guests because we stayed in the large older house. (I believe most of the other cabins are more modern). That said, we were very comfortable having the whole place to ourselves. Two floors, 2 bedrooms, a family room, a huge bathroom and a veranda. Also a small separate kitchenette. This house is probably not for someone with mobility issues as it does have a very steep staircase but we had no problem except for my husband being a little too tall for some areas. Room cleaning was done every day and drinking water was provided. I would definitely recommend staying here to anyone visiting the area.
You need to be aware that this place is not in a city. There are very few places to shop or eat in the area so probably best to bring what you need. Ubers are plentiful and cheap so it’s not a huge deal to not have transport.
The mosquitoes were out in force while we were there but they do have coils and spray. *This was not unique to this property because everywhere we went the mosquitoes came out in the evenings.
Everything! The place is amazing. Extremely clean. The food is superb and only 195 bahts for dinner...and there's a lot of it, cooked from fresh food every day by Isabel and her mum.
Gardens are beautiful.
Handmade furniture from old wagon wheels...and the sunbeds have slide-in-and-out drinks holders (those little detailed things!)
The cocktails are the best we've had in Thailand!
If we could give 12/10, we would.
It's only 380 bahts to get into the City, but if you want to see the best temple in Chiang Mai then go to Wat Doi Saket, about 8 miles away, very quiet and stunning views from the top.
Nothing.
Great place with good vibes. Staff very welcoming.
Amazing location. Thanks a lot.
Terasse outside of the house very cosy, nice decoration In the room.
Very pretty setting, quiet and relaxing. Very much enjoyed our stay.
An easy 10/10 for Secret Garden Chiang Mai!
- Super welcoming and friendly hosts. :)
- The grounds are beautiful, it felt like staying in a botanical garden.
- The breakfast is absolutely incredible! It's easily the best breakfast I had in Thailand! Yummy homemade food in a vast assortment of things to choose from. Dinner was also delicious, such great cooks!
- Even though the grounds and buildings are visibly old, the quality of things were good which I appreciate. You can tell that they were built with great care and quality and were/are very well maintained.
- I thought the Smart TV was a nice touch to an otherwise bit older establishment :)

Beautiful property. Very good breakfast. Very nice hosts. Very relaxing place.
Stunning location and design including a wonderful garden and pool area. Room was spacious and clean.
Isabel and her family are lovely and we highly recommend you eat there- you will not be disappointed!
It is out of town (advertised as such) but easy to get a grab into the city.
Nothing
Super excellent service and attention to detail from Isabella and her team. Home-style Thai food. This is a small, quiet family-run Thai resort in a small village on the eastern outskirts of Chiang Mai (only 100-200 baht Grab ride to the centre). Would appeal to the slower traveller who is happy to be far away from bright lights and is not in a hurry to do anything.
