Room and food
Poor entertainment for new year
The views, plantings, friendly staff, delicious a La carte foods, pool, birds, and more
We liked everything….the only thing was I had a FACiAL
….and was VERY disappointed that with all the wonderful natural OILS and cremes made in Kenya …….the products USED were Nivea and common kitchen oils used in cooking!!!!
That was very shocking to me who would have purschased some Kenyan oils at the Gift Shop if Marula Oil had been used and if there had been kenyan cremes used and then recommended by the Facialist staff member
Caution: When booking Sweetwaters camp, be aware there are now two distinct
properties: Maisha and Serena. We accidentally booked Sweetwaters Maisha, thinking it was the well-established Sweetwaters Serena camp located within Ol Pejeta Conservancy. The
two experiences are not comparable.
Positive Aspects of Maisha:
- Excellent staff service
- Outstanding food quality
- Larger tents than Sweetwaters Serena (if space is your priority)
Maisha Drawbacks:
- Located outside park gates, requiring double payment of park fees if you wish to exit and return
- Resembles an army camp with newly planted vegetation (trees only hip-height) creating a barren atmosphere
- Faces the savannah and swimming pool rather than Mount Kenya, missing the
stunning views and sunrises
- More expensive than Serena despite these limitations
- Oversized tents that lack the cozy feeling of standard tented camps
Why We Prefer Serena:
- Located within the park with convenient access
- Green and lush surroundings
- Faces the waterhole with salt lick and offers spectacular Mount Kenya views
- More intimate, cozy tented accommodations
- Better value for money
We relocated to Serena the following day and would not consider Maisha again. If you're seeking a charming experience in nature with serene surroundings and breathtaking views, choose Serena. Consider Maisha if spacious tents and excellent dining are your top priorities.
Excellent choice of breakfast....the staff go out to meet your requiremnents. A packed lubch was provided at request which was very good
What an amazing place! Beautiful, fresh and clean. Good food! Tents were huge and comfortable. Sunsets on the patio overlooking the Ol' Pejeta conservancy.
Best thing, however, was the staff! Friendly and professional, made us feel welcome like I've never experienced before.
It was more than amazing, beautiful new location! Absolutely stunning. And the staff, especially the restaurant was so kind and funny
I had a massage, and I am not sure if the person giving the massage was a trained masseuse, it was the worst massage I ever had. Didn’t feel she knew what she was doing
