Would recommend to everyone looking for a relaxing and romantic stay
Pros:

Staff was absolutely amazing and very kind. The Breakfast was delicious. The river was very nice to cool off. The surrounding nature was breathtaking and the bungalow was also beautiful. There was a water filter in the facility.

Stay away from this place.

I’ll start with the positives: the property is beautiful, and the photos reflect that accurately. Unfortunately, that’s where the positives end. The experience is filled with issues that leave a very bitter aftertaste.

The location is extremely isolated. To reach the hotel, you have to cross what feels like the muddiest road in South America and wade through an ankle-deep river. Unless you want to ruin your shoes, you’ll need to take a motorbike taxi every time you go in or out. The few drivers willing to make the trip are well aware of the situation and charge inflated prices. And you will find yourself going in and out often, as there is absolutely nothing to do on-site and no common areas to relax in apart from the restaurant.

Upon arrival, when paying for your stay, you’re charged an additional 5% fee for paying by card on every transaction. The only way to avoid it is by carrying a few hundred euros worth of pesos in cash — which is neither practical nor advisable.

The rooms lack very basic amenities: no hair dryer, no hot water (not a temporary issue — the property is designed without it), and towels are not changed regularly. The rooms are also full of insects due to poor sealing.

If you book the “breakfast included” option, be aware that only the four cheapest items on the menu are covered. Lunch and dinner prices are comparable to those of a five-star restaurant in Europe, while the quality is nowhere near that level. On top of that, every order takes between 90 and 120 minutes to arrive. Even milk for coffee comes at an additional charge — despite having paid for breakfast.

The overall feeling is that the hotel provides the bare minimum while trying to extract the maximum amount of money from guests. When we asked to use some mosquito repellent during check-in, we were refused and instead offered to buy a bottle for €10. There is zero generosity or hospitality.

Fantasic stay!
Pros:

I recently stayed at Salvia Madre in Colombia and had a wonderful experience overall. The service was truly excellent — the staff were warm, attentive, and always willing to help, which made the stay feel very welcoming and relaxed.

One of the highlights is the stunning natural setting. The accommodation is surrounded by beautiful nature, making it a perfect place to unwind and enjoy the peaceful environment. Waking up to the sounds of nature and the views around the property was really special.

The restaurant also deserves a special mention. The food was delicious, fresh, and clearly prepared with care. It was a treat to be able to enjoy such good meals without leaving the property.

One memorable detail was the access road: after a storm it had become quite adventurous to reach the accommodation. While it added a bit of excitement to the arrival, it also made the experience feel even more remote and immersed in nature.

All in all, Salvia Madre is a lovely place to stay if you’re looking for great service, beautiful surroundings, and excellent food.

Top WLAN (und all das weitere positive aus meiner ersten Bewertung)

Cons:

Kein Mobile-Empfang. Das war aber bei meiner Kreditkarte nötig für Online-Käufe wie zB weitere Hotels, Flüge oder Tours. Dafür muss man dann runter an die Hauptstrasse. Online-Zahlungen mit Debitkarte waren möglich und Tours lassen sich auch vor Ort beim Personal buchen. Es gibt immer eine Lösung! ;)

Ein Bijou, um ein paar Tage runter zu fahren und sich mit der Natur zu verbinden, ohne auf Comfort verzichten zu müssen.
Pros:

Mit viel Liebe und Sinn für naturbelassene Ästhetik gestaltet. Sensationelles Restaurant und Personal. Tolle Bungalows.

Cons:

Man sollte sich bewusst sein, dass es inmitten der Natur auch Insekten gibt. Ein sehr wirksames und wohlriechendes natürliches Schutzmittel kann vor Ort bezogen werden.

Buen ambiente y relax, con algunos aspectos a mejorar
Pros:

La acogida fue muy buena desde el primer momento. El personal es amable y el ambiente del hotel resulta muy relajante, ideal para descansar. En general, la habitación y las zonas comunes se perciben limpias y bien cuidadas, lo que hace que la estancia sea agradable.

Cons:

Durante la estancia encontré un par de cucarachas en la habitación. Entiendo que el hotel está en una zona natural y esto puede suceder, pero sería recomendable reforzar las medidas para evitar que esos insectos entren en las habitaciones.
Además, en la descripción de Booking se indicaba que la habitación disponía de cocina, pero en realidad no había cocina, lo cual fue un punto decepcionante y poco claro respecto a lo anunciado.
