Hospedagem muito bem localizada, silenciosa, organizada. Lembra uma kitnet com tudo que você precisa para passar poucos dias.

Cons:

O nome da hospedagem não está explicito na entrada, o que consta é o nome de um salão de beleza, o que não é ruim, mas dificultou na hora de acharmos o local. O nome "La Preferida" na verdade é de um restaurante que está na frente da hospedagem. O pagamento só pode ser realizado em dinheiro. Tivemos que ir até um caixa eletrônico próximo para sacarmos o valor, o que foi complicado já que chegamos cansados de viagem.

An excellent choice for long and short stays
Pros:

I left my heart in Lima. I stayed there for an entire month and I felt very lucky to have found La Preferida. For an exceptional price I had a mini apartment; a double bedroom with lots of storage and room to move around, plus a private bathroom and a separate area for eating, located in a residential neighbourhood which felt very safe. I enjoy urban hiking and I found this to be ideally placed for visiting everywhere in Lima. There were two enormous supermarkets within a 10 minute walk, a gourmet fish burger Café directly opposite the accommodation and a small selection of cafés, bakeries and restaurants tucked into the surrounding streets, which made it feel like a quieter version of Miraflores. There is a major bus route about 10 minutes away, but I can’t comment on it as I chose not to use Ubers or public transport, but I believe they are both very cheap.

I hope I will be this lucky with my choice of accommodation next time I visit Peru.

Cons:

There was a kettle, fridge, microwave and crockery supplied, but there was nowhere suitable to do washing up. I ended up buying disposable paper plates after I broke a glass trying to wash up in the bathroom sink.

Bring your own toilet paper with you. I would have to say that the public bathroom facilities in town were far better than the ones you would find here in the UK, but occasionally, particularly along the beaches you will be grateful to be carrying your own supply. The roll at the accommodation was horrible and not fit for purpose, so be prepared, but don’t let it ruin your stay.

Also I would like to apologise to the hosts for not finding out until a few days before leaving about the Peruvian rule of not flushing toilet paper in the bathroom. Sorry! As an awkward language problem existed between us, perhaps they could get ChatGPT to translate some house rules into other languages besides Spanish for gringos like me.

Pros:

The room was comfortable and had everything I needed, and the value was incredible. Neighborhood is very safe and the owners are kind and helpful. Since I am currently a digital nomad, WiFi was reliable for basic tasks such as email and Internet searches.

Cons:

The WiFi in my room was not good for video/zoom calls, possibly because my room was far away from the router and the connection kept dropping. But it got better when I moved closer to the door. The bed was also quite hard. But these were small things.
