I hated the brown, grey and black towels. I was very disappointed with the towels in the bathroom and toilet. I reported this on the evening I checked in and asked for white towels but nothing was done. I called again Saturday morning requesting white towels and I was given the white stripes beach towels. I was even more disappointed that when they cleaned the room they put back the brown and black towels after I had requested for white towels. I was really not happy with this and it bothered me a lot especially because I don't even buy brown or black towels at home and not put these colors for visitors. This towel experience nearly ruined my holiday as it is a non negotiable for me.
With that being said everything else was lovely, lovely people, beautiful views, lovely food and clean space.

It's weird how this place is rated 5 stars. Let me explain:
1. Its the beach view shared with the view of a township area. Rather stay in New Harbour, hermanus, better views and walking distance of the village for the same cost.
2. Waited 15min outside gate hooting because they were not at the front desk, at 5 stars, I'd expect a warmer welcome.
3. Fancy but basics are lacking - has towel warmers, but water is not hot enough due to conservation of power through solar heating, fancy room temperature device but doesn't keep the room warm.
4. Oh yes, extra charge for make up on sheets.
5. Filter coffee at best, machine is not working. At 5 stars, I expect nesspresso machine in the room.
6. Cold pool, would be better with a Jacuzzi or heated pool.

This is coming from staying in a 3 star place with all the amenities, to this 5 star place, which leaves much to be desired.

There was a strange smell of the salt with herbs left for the bath. Looks like it soaked the air smells or was closer to oregano mix for soup than a bath herb)) but this wasn’t a big problem.

Wir hatten insgesamt gemischte Erfahrungen mit diesem Fünf-Sterne-Hotel. Das Zimmer war wirklich top – sauber, modern und sehr komfortabel. Auch die Aussicht war gut, wenn auch nicht ganz so spektakulär, wie es auf den Bildern dargestellt wurde.

Was allerdings gar nicht überzeugt hat, war das Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis im Restaurant. Wir sind jetzt seit fast drei Wochen in Südafrika unterwegs und haben selten so teuer und gleichzeitig so enttäuschend gegessen. Ich hatte Fisch bestellt und bekam lediglich ein relativ kleines Stück ohne nennenswerte Beilage – abgesehen von einer winzigen Portion Süßkartoffel, vielleicht 50 Gramm, von der sogar noch ein Teil fehlte. Geschmacklich war der Fisch in Ordnung, aber keinesfalls besonders – vor ein paar Tagen hatten wir deutlich besseren Fisch für etwa die Hälfte des Preises.

Meine Frau bestellte ein Steak „medium“, bekam es jedoch komplett durchgebraten und zudem bereits in kleine Stücke geschnitten serviert. Hier hätte man in der Küche definitiv reagieren und das Gericht neu zubereiten können. Der dazu gereichte Salat war ebenfalls enttäuschend – ohne Dressing oder jegliche Verfeinerung.

Unterm Strich: Während Zimmer und Unterkunft überzeugen konnten, ist das Restaurant für die aufgerufenen Preise absolut nicht empfehlenswert. Wir haben in deutlich günstigeren Unterkünften wesentlich besser gegessen.

It’s definitely not 5-star level, which is totally fine but then it shouldn’t be sold as if it is. For example breakfast is fine, but we had way better in all our 4-star accomodations. But what we disliked most is that the room, especially bathroom and toilet, didn’t feel clean, including dark and smelly towels. The whole vibe of the place was just a bit off for us. The views of the seafacing rooms are very nice, however it’s not appealing at all to actually sit outside on your balcony.
