A Peaceful Hidden Gem in Megalochori. During my visit to Santorini (9–15 October), I stayed in three different villages, and without a doubt, Caldera Caves in Megalochori was the most aesthetically pleasing and soul-soothing of them all. From the moment I stepped inside, I was amazed by the elegant interior design, spacious layout, and the calm, welcoming aura that fills the entire space. It’s one of those places that feels like a retreat, so beautiful that on some days, I didn’t even want to leave to explore!

Megalochori itself is an absolute treasure. It’s a peaceful, traditional village that has preserved its authentic Greek charm, cobblestone streets, whitewashed houses, and blooming bougainvillea at every turn. Unlike the busy areas of Oia and Fira, Megalochori feels intimate and serene, with very little foot traffic, making it perfect for those seeking relaxation and authenticity.

The location is perfect, just a short walk (about 0.9 km) to the famous “Heart of Santorini” viewpoint and right in front of the village square, where you’ll find lovely local restaurants and cafés to enjoy a true taste of Greek cuisine.

Breakfast was delicious and plentiful, with a variety of options each morning. A special mention goes to Justine, who prepares and serves breakfast with genuine warmth and care, her hospitality truly makes you feel at home.

Everything about my stay was exceptional, from the stunning design to the tranquil setting and heartfelt service. I would return in a heartbeat. Location 10/10. 💙

Une expérience MAGNIFIQUE !
Pros:

Absolument TOUT ! C'était un séjour parfait chez Vivian ! Elle a été très accueillante.
La suite est magnifique, très très bien rénovée et décorée : un coup de cœur !!!
Et que dire de la petite terrasse en hauteur avec le jacuzzi ... des couchers de soleil magnifiques !!!
Les équipements sont parfaits, il ne manque rien !
Le petit déjeuner est incroyable et copieux : mention spéciale aux œufs brouillés à la fêta !!!
Concernant la situation géographique, nous avons adoré être dans ce petit village typique, loin de l'émulation des plus grandes villes. Au pied de l'hébergement, vous trouverez des petits restaurants, des artisans.
Nous avons utilisé le bus pour nous déplacer et cela était très pratique.
Merci pour ce moment !!!

Great place to stay
Pros:

We enjoyed our stay here, and Megalochori is a charming place.
The property is beautiful and clean, equipped with the most necessary things for a short stay
(Coffee and mineral water is also provided).
Free parking lot is also available nearby.

Cons:

We did not find a good way to dry our swimming suits after using the hot tub…

Camera perfetta con jacuzzi sulla terrazza con una vista spettacolare su una tipica chiesa bianca con il tetto blu! Dotata di ogni comfort! La struttura è una bomboniera ed è proprio ciò che ti immagini quando pensi a una struttura in Grecia! Irene è stata super disponibile fin da subito per aiutarci in tutto ! Posizione ottima per visitare Santorini! Assolutamente consigliata

cozy cave, warm staff, quiet location
Pros:

The location is great for people wanting more privacy and quiet. The cave room is so cozy and comfortable. The staff is very accommodating and helpful, most especially Suella, who made sure we had earlier breakfast. The food was sumptuous.

Cons:

It is recommended for future tenants (most especially for short stays) to rent their preferred transportation as taxis are expensive and riding public buses are not convenient. Parking could also be an issue.

Beautiful place to stay at with a private rooftop Jacuzzi. Vivian was really accommodating and helpful even after we left the room. She was always easy to reach by Whatsapp. Beautiful blue domes can be seen at the rooftop and the accommodation is situated in a pretty village

Vivian was very good to us. The breakfast was one of the best so far we had in Santorini - especially the (Greek?) coffee. The BnB has a nice touch and very thoughtful design. Rooftop jacuzzi was very relaxing and in fact the warmest jacuzzi we had been to in Santorini with a lovely view of the blue dome church.

Cons:

A very minor issue we had was figuring out place to store our luggage on the day of leaving - as this was a BnB type of property without a reception. Although in the end we got it sorted in a nearby shop.
