The room was a good size. Nice and clean and had a beautiful view over the sea.
There wasn't any milk or bottled water in the room. . We could have asked for milk but didn't bother
Friendly staff clean throughout and good food and no problem parking
very good
Nothing all good
all good will return
Location
Very small bathroom
Spotlessly clean, room was lovely with a nice view of the sea, excellent freshly made breakfast, friendly helpful staff.
The double bed was a little uncomfortable, probably required a new mattress as it had a dip on both sides. Decorative cushions on bed smelt a little stale.
Clean , staff polite and helpful
Cramped room no wardrobe or dresser or biscuits
It’s clean, quiet and relaxing
Really really comfortable bed. Jacuzzi bath was amazing! Sea View Stunning!! Very clean and staff were really friendly and helpful. We stayed in room 1 and would request that room again!
Wouldn't hesitate to recommend to family and friends, and anyone else!
Shame the town has seen better days, but that's no fault of the hotels! Honestly I don't think there was anything they could improve on!
Clean, comfortable and really handy for the sea front, welcoming and helpful staff.
It was very clean and welcoming
They isn’t anything to not like
Greeted and assited by polite staff at check-in, check-out and at breakfast. The bedroom and communal areas were clean. The hospitality tray in the room was appreciated.
Parking is quite limited in the rear yard of the hotel and we avoided this because there was potential to be boxed in; there is a pay-and-display car park nearby. This isn't the fault of the hotel but future guests should be aware of limited parking.
We stayed during a heat wave and although the window in the room had been left ajar, the curtains had not been closed and there were no blinds to minimise the UV heating up the room. A handful of flying insects had also entered the room via the open window. No fan was provided and this was very disappointing. This all made for a particularly uncomfortable night.
The curtains are slightly short, leaving a gap at the bottom that allows light from the street lamp located immediately outside the window to leak into the room. So, you don't have to wait until daybreak to be disturbed by light in the room – it's provided for you all night.
Tip for other guests: fold the runner that's laid across the foot of the bed twice lengthways and this forms a light excluder that fits the width of the window. Simply place this at the bottom of the curtains on the windowsill and it helps block the light.
All the staff were really helpful and welcoming, and would be impossible to fault any interaction
The breakfast was amazing but the varied dinner menu didn't really fit in with our dietary requirements.
Everything! The hotel is exactly what you would expect from a well run hotel, it was clean, comfortable and the staff were friendly and helpful. We especially liked the availability of decaf coffee in the room tray. The shower was spot on. Breakfast was well organised and we both enjoyed our full and small breakfasts, there was plenty of choice for cooked and cereal. They were also really happy to look after our bags when we arrived earlier in the day, so we could look around Redcar without them. The was perfect for us, just at the far end of the high street, so a short walk to all amenities and the beach, plus the bus stop is Literally outside! Overall I would definitely recommend the Claxton and if we are ever in Redcar again we will not be looking for anywhere to stay.
Only one very small thing is the room was very warm and only had one small window so we could really have done with a sheet rather than the thick quilt, but as we were in the middle of the heatwave this probably won't be an issue for most.
The stairs and the lack of a fan as it was very hot
