We picked this hotel for the location, the amazing design and the size of the room. We were so excited to stay here.... Unfortunately, we had a bad experience and couldn't stay in the room we originally booked :(
As soon as we checked into our room, we noticed a huge number of bugs crawling over the floor. A close inspection showed they had come from the wooden beams right above the bed. Woodworm! So gross! Of course this problem is much bigger for the owner than for us (we hope he can get it fixed, or his building will collapse at some point), but we were so disappointed and couldn't obviously stay in this room (can you imagine these pests getting into our luggage and us taking them home to our own house, which is mainly wood?!). The girl from reception took a while to contact the owner, but they were quick to give us a similar type of room in their partner hotel next door. This room had similar facilities, but was very dark, a lot more dated (hooks in the bathroom were falling out of the walls), it was on the 4th floor with only stairs in a boring staircase, it was a LOT smaller and didn't have the beautiful design we originally booked this hotel for. During the 4(!) nights of our stay, nobody from the original hotel checked in with us to see if everything was alright; we got no further apologies, not even a complimentary drink or anything at their bar. It was good of them to offer us an alternative room, but other than that we felt it was really bad customer service for such a negative experience we had. We wasted a lot of money and it really ruined a bit of experience on this trip.
Beautiful place to stay right in the heart of old town.
We had a lovely stay and loved the layout and aesthetic of the apartment. The staff were very helpful, keeping an eye on our luggage until check in and helping us with our bags going up the stairs. We really loved having the rooftop to relax and get great views of the old harbor.
If you struggle with stairs this probably isn't the place for you as you have to go up a few flights of stairs to get to the apartment, then one set of stairs to the second bed, and then another set to get to your rooftop area. It was worth it but would be a struggle if you can't do stairs easily. There also was a nail sticking out of the floor in the kitchen, hopefully the staff can fix that to avoid any injuries.
