What an amazing experience!
A small bungalow in the middle of the jungle, more than friendly people, lots of wild animals to see, much to explore! Also bring respect for the area this lodge is located on soil that was once an ancient city of the Tayrona and is still inhabited by one of the descendant tribes the Kogi.
We took all offered tours:
- a historic tour about the Kogi tribe (guided by Francisco, who is a Kogi)
- a cocoa tour explaining the process of making cocoa, we even made our own hot chocolate out of cocoa beans: A MUST DO!!!
- Tubing down the river - simply magical
The food is very delicious too and good portions!!!
We even saw tucans, red howler monkeys, iguanas, kolibris and some kind of aras and various kind of other birds, pelicans, butterflies in all colours and sizes...
- Better speak some Spanish (like in all corners of colombia) - we understand the language but don't actually speak it. We took two tours in Spanish but weren't able to ask questions, but it's possible to understand - everyone is soooo kind. We were staying here in February - off season, there would be English tours.
Sergio, who organized the tours and everything, speaks English but since he is the good soul of the house he is very busy :)
- don't expect a luxury jungle bungalow! The rooms are basic with animals of all sizes in- and outside the room which still adds to the experience.
- don't expect electricity or internet! You are here for relaxing and detoxing your body and soul. There's WiFi in the restaurant area and electricity at night in your room.
Położenie, bliskość natury i rzeki Don Diego, personel.
Brak
I liked the scenery and landscape around the hotel, the food was exceptional, and the staff were kind
The electricity and water weren't consistent during my stay
The owner was such a lovely lady. She was very kind. Also the location is amazing, you arrive by boat in the middle of nowhere. It has a small beach with some chairs to relax.
I was travelling by myself and then it is very quiet. There is not much to do (I knew this) so it was very lonely. I would recommend it for families or couples.
The location on the river and actually in a small archaeological site were fantastic. Food was very good, staff were friendly and helpful. the bed was very comfortable.
The people are really special and it was incredible to meet everyone.
Their ecological approach, how they integrate indigenous people in the hotel with so much respect
It was like being part of a big family
It’s really beautiful, the sound of the animals is like nothing you’ll ever hear
There’s surely a special energy here
The rooms could be much cleaner as there’s only a net above and lots of dust and other stuff falls
Maybe some chairs by the river and an area with lounge chairs to hang out
Brilliant location, great staff, everybody worked hard to make our stay great - arranged transport there from one hotel and on to our next.. Kitchen worked out our restricted diet options very well. Being by the river was a delight and in grounds we saw toucans and acawari.
The room (cabin 1) was a lovely size and bed comfortable but it could do with a little update, perhaps an extra lamp, and we weren't warm enough the first night - they got us another cover the next night. Do visit, it's a lovely place to be.
The location, the river view, beautifully maintained gardens. The hammocks. Fine local food and drink during our stay. Good bed! The flowers on the bed....
There was only 1 plug socket in the room. There are some uninvited animals in your room. But that's part of your stay and being in nature. Fortunately, the mosquito net stops a lot.
The place was absolutelly great inside the nature. The river was beautiful and fresh.
The state of the room. That was not very clean and lacking of maintenance. For our leaving they agreed to pick up us at certain time. But we had to walk for half hour because the boat never showed up. That was awful.
The location and the included boattrip from Don Diego.
There were lots of cockroaches in the room and there was a bad smell in the bathroom.
The hotel is in the middle of the forest, you need to take a little boat up the river to get there and that was lovely. There is a local family living on site and I heard they can give you tours and tell you the story but we didn't do it.
Food was really nice!
I didn't read the reviews on here before and I cannot find it now but want to leave it clear, the rooms have ceiling but there's a big gap between the ceiling and the walls so you get bats and lots of insects in the room, there is a mosquito net around the bed but that's not enough. There was termites and we had wood bits dropping all night on our bed. We did give feedback to the staff.
As long as you are aware of what you sign up to it's a nice experience.
