Clean, Comfortable, and Friendly
Friendly staff, a clean room, and very comfortable beds. There is also plenty of parking available right outside, which was very convenient. We especially liked that you could always go to the reception area to pick up extra tea bags, coffee, sugar, etc. to use with the kettle in the room.
During our three-day stay, the room was cleaned on request, and towels were changed upon request as well. When I asked for fresh towels, they arrived promptly—and as a lovely extra touch, they even brought a box of Christmas biscuits for our daughter.
Breakfast was good, though the selection was the same each day. It included eggs, bacon, sausages, pastries, bread, cereals, and fresh fruit, with several juice and coffee options. They even offered to prepare porridge for us if we wanted it.
Excellent place to stay - easy access, nice and quiet and the rooms are all top notch. Excellent staff who couldn’t do enough for us. We were at a concert up at the 02 area which is a 25 min drive so perfect location for London without being in london
Arrived at premier inn to find staff member smoking outside and had to wait to be booked in as self service wouldn’t work. When down for dinner after been told to book a table, stood waiting to be seated for 15 mins, the a further 45 mins to get starter! GET MORE STAFF!
Room fine, no issues and usual standard.
I’d strongly recommend not booking a meal deal as you cannot be sure that you will get served, good news is McDonald’s is across the road. Staff not very helpful but clearly over stretched hence the abrupt tone.
Extremely Disappointing Stay - Poor Room Quality and Value
Rating: 1/5 (Terrible Value)
I chose this Premier Inn location in Strood as I was visiting a friend's local restaurant, and I have previously found the Premier Inn chain to offer excellent value for money. Sadly, this stay fell far short of expected standards and was ultimately very disappointing, especially considering the price paid (£90+).
On arrival, the reception staff were friendly and efficient, and parking seemed fine. However, upon entering our room, the problems became immediately apparent. There was a distinct and very unpleasant smell, which we attempted to remedy by opening the window, only to find the windows were locked shut.
The room condition was frankly poor. We noticed signs of dampness in the bathroom area. More concerningly, there was noticeable writing and marks on the walls, suggesting previous guests (likely children) had caused damage that had not been properly cleaned or repaired. The carpet near the bath was also sticking up and lifting, which felt unhygienic and was a trip hazard. Additionally, the room had a connecting door to an adjacent room (likely part of a family setup), which was unsettling despite being locked.
When I reported the room's poor condition and the smell to reception, I was informed that they were fully booked (due to film crews staying at the hotel) and therefore couldn't offer us a different room. This lack of resolution for multiple major issues—including a locked window and damp—was unacceptable, especially having paid over £90 for the night. The overall experience felt like a gross misuse of money for a damaged and substandard room.
I would strongly advise management to address the maintenance issues in this room immediately. This stay was incredibly poor value for money and unfortunately ruined my perception of the quality control at this particular hotel.
The room was comfortable, clean and tidy as the rest of the hotel was too. Check in was quick and easy, facilities as advertised. Parking easy but does get busy in the evenings, still managed to find a space. In a good location, find the noises from the nearby motorway and railway don't cause much issue unless the windows are open. Unfortunately, the air conditioning didn't seem to be working meaning we had a very sweaty night despite it being late November. Would stay again but only if the heating/cooling issues are sorted.
Our annual Christmas shopping trip to Rochester was another great success. We love the great selection of independent, vintage and charity shops in the High Street and plenty of places to stop for lunch. As always we stayed at the Premier Inn where we received a lovely welcome from a great, efficient and friendly team. Nothing is ever too much trouble for the staff and they looked after us beautifully especially Kiera and Anya. It's not flash or fancy but provides everything we need, including a comfy sleep, and is such great value, leaving us with a bigger shopping budget. See you again soon.
Often stay here and get used to hearing the trains at the rear of the building …. However I do not expect to hear a lorry being unloaded at 7 am on a Saturday morning!! All we could hear were the metal trollies for ages . It was unbelievably noisy especially since we were on the 3rd floor! It woke us up and spoiled our weekend lay in ! Does it need to be that early ? Complained to manager and that was the explanation to the noise .
I originally booked a disabled room for our stay for the evening before our daughters wedding, but had to change my booking as my husband passed away unexpectedly. When I phoned, Nick was so helpful and amended my booking and made sure the rest of my family also staying at the hotel, were in rooms near me. On arrival to my room Nick and the staff had left me a card and gifts to help make my stay a little easier. I just want to say a big thank you to Nick and all the staff for your excellent care and service, everyone had a lovely stay.
Great experience. Nice food friendly staff. nicole was very helpful . The hotel bar is well worth a visit. clean tidy in a great location
Rochester premier inn is a welcoming friendly and knowledgable place. The welcoming vibes was reassuring for a first timer like me. The room was comfortable and the bed lush!!!
Greated by polite staff who explained the way in which the premier inn works , breakfast and if we needed anything to ask . The room my was spotless except there was only towels for one person this was rectified in the morning when we asked. The breakfast staff were very accommodating and polite . Nothing to fault at all. The complete stay was very good and the staff work the hotel very well . We have stayed in lots of premier inns and I have to say this in a good example as to how they all should be . Well done to the staff
Stayed here for two nights and our room was very clean, comfortable and quiet. The bed is one of the best and we slept well here. We stayed for the meal deal too. My husband is gluten intolerant and couldn't find much from the menu to make up a meal but I have to mention Anya who absolutely went out of her way to make sure he got something to eat. It took quite a while to sort out and she was amazing! We found the other staff very friendly too. Highly recommend a stay here. Thank you! 😊
room was very clean and comfortable and the staff were exceptional, so friendly and helpful-breakfast was lovely, will definitely return.
The hotel is a typical Premier Inn. Decent location with a couple places to eat & drink within walking distance. Rooms are comfortable enough with good beds and a decent shower. The thing that makes this Premier Inn stand out from the others is the staff. I've been staying here for the last three months whilst working in the area and each and every member of staff have been lovely. Taking time to ask how my day has been and generally going out of their way to make my stay a little more comfortable. Nothing has been too much trouble and any problems have been solved with a smile.
After several hundred miles driving from Scotland to Kent, we were relieved to arrive for a five night holiday, exhausted. Parking facilities were good.
However, second in the queue at 3pm check-in, we were aghast to be "welcomed" by the reception woman barking at us "surname?" No smile or greeting whatsoever. She did the same with the folk in front of us and behind too. The trainee beside her saw my incredulous expression and was obviously embarrassed.
The Premier Plus room was as we expected, very comfortable and the location was perfect for our needs.
We didn't dine in the restaurant due to obvious staff shortages and poor reviews but loved the excellent Turkish restaurant across the road.
We didn't see any staff at the reception in the five days after our arrival, it was permanently vacant.
This horrible reception experience vexed me for the whole stay as a smile and manners cost nothing and are so important.
The room service ladies were friendly and helpful.
I hope to return to Kent sometime, my birthplace, to resume ancestral research but wouldn't risk this Premier Inn again. Shame..
Stayed for 2 nights Fri & Sat , came down to bring my sister down to visit her grandaughter, Can only say from arriving to leaving we felt really comfortable, the room was standard Premier Inn, everything you expect, one small point A/C only goes down to 19 so found it a bit warm, But i am always warm anyway. From checking in we found All Staff absolutely Brilliant from the lady who checked us in to all the ones who served us in the bar and at breakfast and the Housekeeping ladies you are a credit to the company. Thank You for making our stay so good.
We stayed here for one night to break up the journey down to leshuttle from leeds. It was in a nice location - we went for a walk along the estuary after breakfast. The room was nice and had everything we needed. Free parking was handy. Breakfast was lovely.
Been using Premier Inn for many years now, but this was my first experience of a Premier Plus Room and I was astounded by it. Fridge with complimentary water, coffee machine, chocolates, Air conditioning, beautiful decor and the usual comfy bed. Shower room was stunning. Staff on reception and the restaurant staff were fabulous, and went that extra mile for me. Fish and chips for evening meal which was cooked to perfection. Had breakfast the next morning, which was great too. What was even better about this particular Premier Inn was that you could help yourself to breakfast rather than order it from the waiting staff. I make regular trips to Rochester so I'm looking forward to staying at this hotel again. I highly recommend it. Do try a Premier Plus room; It makes you feel like Royalty. The photos don't do it justice.
This is in no way a criticism of staff all of whom were excellent. It is however a huge criticism of Premier inn’s planning and current operations. We stayed three nights and in general the breakfasts were fine the evening meals in the other hand were dreadful.
Our first evening we were told chef was ill no restaurant. Ok can happen we visited the Turkish place having pre booked. Second night we were booked in only to arrive and be told it was a limited menu. No one told us that when booked. We were told they had one fish one steak two soups and one pie. Wow. Not a lot of choice left but we ordered. Husband’s curry had three small pieces of chicken in a watery sauce. Son got four. Chips were solid. Informed waitress who apologised and told us curry was pre packed boil in bag! Chips came like that she said. Well don’t serve them!!
Third night receptionist said it was worse so we went to the hungry horse nearby and they had everything on menu.
We visit Premier inns regularly and they are running down. We decided we will go Holiday inn or Hilton. They aren’t much more expensive at times. So there you go. More regulars lost.
Its a nice hotel and one of the best deals for families, one of the best breakfast options I have seen (though it's paid for adults), it's a bargain at only 12£ and let's kids eat free with a paying adult.
