Shared living

Lovely quiet location, near water, and a great view from the living room and balcony of room 3.
Newly built/renovated home.

Cons:

I did not understand from the online listing that the beautiful home we were booking was shared with the family. They laughed at my misunderstanding, but from the other reviews it wasnt only me so wording in the listing should be updated. Anywhere except the small double room felt like intruding on their home and privacy. The room had no tv, no seats, no decoration, we were not allowed food or drinks other than water. Balcony had 1 outdoor seat we took turns sitting.
The living room is beautiful but we were not invited to go in and use it. The kitchen was big but we got a little sliver of fridge space and the rest of our food was left to go off in the car overnight.
We paid for 2 nights, stayed one, and paid to go elsewhere the second night. Also the room was not ready when we arrived for check in.
The people were nice and I can see they are setting up accommodation which will suit people who enjoy communal living but it was not a comfortable situation for 2 grown kiwi adults.

Peaceful out of town location for car travellers
Pros:

Great location outside Auckland that allows easy access to the major roads to the north and in the morning provides the best sunrise views towards the city.
Very quiet neighbourhood with easy on street parking. More traffic from dog walkers and joggers than cars!
The Wi-Fi worked well.

Cons:

A couple of suggestions:- Bicycles would have been a real bonus to access local shops and eating places.
Also in room entertainment (TV ?) could be provided as the connections were there.

Surprised by shared house set up

That this was not a motel and was a shared house. Was not made clear on website, was quite the surprise when turned up.


Too many things we could not do that were a surprise

Shoes couldn’t worm in house
No eating on room
No lock with key on door
No TV in room
No kitchenette in room

Would be ok if you know what you are getting felt deceived by booking.com

I highly recommend choosing Room #2 — it offers an exceptional view of central Auckland along with one of the finest beach outlooks in the area.

My stay was outstanding in every way, including the warm hospitality of the host couple. From the day I arrived, they were incredibly kind and attentive. They provided umbrellas on rainy days, offered breakfast, and even cooked on several occasions when I came downstairs. When I experienced sand-fly bites, they generously provided complimentary medicine that helped them heal quickly.

I would gladly choose to stay here again and highly recommend it to others.

I had no complaints during my stay; everything met or exceeded my expectations.
I’m confident you will experience the same exceptional level of hospitality—if not even better.
