A huge disappointment
Pros:

The comfort of the double bed in our room,
Friendliness of the domestic (coloured) personnel.

Cons:

The hotel manager.
I understand one wants to be good to the personnel - but bringing them all into the apartment next door to yours, where you have to listen how the manager shouts loudly at the poor employees (who are adorable!), this was a bit too much for us.
Don't believe you'll get an apartment with sea view (what we booked): the view from the balcony is at the rusty roof of a house where massages are being offered and is located at the beach: DIRECTLY in front of Beach Escape 1&2. The nasty roof you need to look at all the time ia about 4 meters from your balcony. NO SEA VIEW: IT'S A LIE!
Not the fault of the accommodation, but:
After the breakfast, the sea disappears due to the low tide, leaving behind a muddy desert. One would need to walk for at least 100 meters to get to the water. The high tide brings the water back only in the evening - so there is very few time when you can swim. Not a word about this phenomenon when you are browsing the Beach Escape 1&2 website - and no swimming pool to be able to swim at least there, when the sea is gone.
For us, Zanzibar was a huge disappointment.

Da tornarci!
Pros:

Abbiamo soggiornato presso questa struttura per 12 notti in una stanza fronte oceano e con trattamento di mezza pensione. Scelta molto azzeccata. Aprire la porta della stanza ed avere già i piedi nella sabbia è una sensazione impagabile. Avevamo qualche perplessità sulla scelta della mezza pensione. Ma anche qui non potevamo optare per una soluzione migliore. Ogni giorno pesce freschissimo acquistato al momento dai pescatori sulla spiaggia cucinato in modo eccellente e gustoso su una splendida terrazza vista oceano. Anche le altre portate sono sempre state all' altezza. Dan (il proprietario) e Said hanno fatto proprio di tutto per soddisfare ogni nostra esigenza. Da tenere in considerazione il fatto che la struttura ha un generatore di corrente molto utile viste le continue interruzioni di energia elettrica su tutta l'isola. Inoltre possono anche provvedere ad organizzare escursioni. Noi non abbiamo usufruito di questa possibilità in quanto, non sapendolo, avevamo già provveduto da casa.

We've finally settled back home, but a piece of us is definitely still in Zanzibar and at the hotel! We want to send a massive thank you to you and your incredible crew for making our 6-day stay so unforgettable.
From the moment we arrived (a day earlier than booked), the personal touch you offer made us feel less like guests and more like family! A huge shout to Saidi- your right-hand man a treasure -and the lovely Teddy; they both went above and beyond to ensure every single need was met!
Danny, your presence really makes the place shine. Whether it was your constant jokes, your warm hospitality, or that incredible cooking, you made every day special! I will never forget the seafood and especially the octopus soup;-)
Thank you for the laughs, the amazing food and the memories. We can't wait to come back and see you all again!!! We are already planning for our next visit to Zanzibar, and please rest assured that our stay will definitely be in your hotel and hopefully the very same room we had!!

1. Shortage and power outage though a general problem in Zanzibar. Good that a generator was able´ to restore electric functionalities in due time.
2. A variation in beverages offered. A selection of many readily drinks would be very much appreciated

Pros:

Big room, right on the beach, nice staff, huge upper story restaurant with great view, delicious dinners, great price, good air-conditioning ( I mention this because I stayed in a much more expensive upscale hotel with minimal ac)

Cons:

My room and porch had no beach view (blocked by another building) but just a few meters away were beach lounge chairs so it didn't matter.

Rude and aggressive owner
Pros:

The staff was lovely and very apologetic they were very sorry for the rude behavior of their “boss”

Cons:

We decided not to stay because the description of the facilities did not match what was actually available in the room. If the information had been accurate, there would have been no issue and we would have either taken it into account or booked somewhere else.

The owner was very rude and spoke to us in an aggressive manner. He was not willing to help or find any solution. I genuinely felt sorry for the staff, as he was speaking to them harshly as well.

I travel frequently and have never experienced anything like this before. We chose to leave immediately

Pros:

Wir haben hier 7 wunderschöne Tage erlebt. Die Anlage befindet sich direkt am breiten, ruhigen Sandstrand. Gegen Abend kommen einheimische Kinder an den Strand, spielen Fussball, springen von einem Turm ins Wasser und haben ihren Spaß. Es ist eine schöne, authentische Atmosphäre.

Das Personal der Anlage ist sehr freundlich und stets daran interessiert, dass es den Gästen an nichts fehlt. Bei der Planung von Aktivitäten haben sie uns super unterstützt. Ein Highlight war eine 3-stündige Fahrt auf einem Fischerboot, die wir direkt vorm Hotel gestartet haben. Für die Rückreise wurde uns eine Kombination von Flughafentransfer und Besichtigung von Stonetown organisiert.

Das Frühstück ist lecker und wird für jeden Gast ganz frisch zubereitet. Abends kann man ebenfalls direkt in der Anlage essen. Das Highlight sind die Fischgerichte, die ich einige Male genießen durfte. Es ist für jeden Geschmack etwas dabei.

Die zahlreichen Fotos bei Booking.com geben einen sehr guten und zutreffenden Eindruck von der Anlage. Wir haben für einen fairen Preis ein Upgrade auf ein Zimmer mit Klimaanlage bekommen. Das war uns wichtig, weil wir in Deutschland keine solchen warmen Nächte kennen.

Pros:

The location is great just steps from the beach and the hospitality of the staff and manager was outstanding. They really take care of you and make sure you feel home. I enjoyed the home cooked food from seafood to heart warming soups. The property is not big but cosy and the restaurant overlooking the ocean is one of the best perks. I definitely will come again and next time with my kids 😊

Pros:

Pour ceux qui aiment la tranquillité et plus authentique c'est un établissement idéal. Le personnel est super et Dani de bon conseil. L établissement étant éloigné des commodités voir avec Dani si vous voulez faire une soirée à Paje il va vous trouver la solution avec un transport qui emmène là où vous voulez ou là où il vous suggère. Impeccable ! Après c'est comme partout sur Zanzibar avec les coupures électriques mais un groupe prend le relais. J en garde un bon souvenir

Sur le dernier kilomètre on se demande si on a pas fait une erreur car tres pauvre mais une fois la porte d entrée franchie c'est pas mal et sécurisé. Juste c'est dommage que le bâtiment tres vetuste ou il y a les massages ne soit pas rase ca donnerai encore plus de cachet

This place is not for those who are just looking for accommodation, but for those who are searching for the feeling of home, far away from their own. Dani is a big part of why this feeling exists. I stayed for two weeks, during which he helped me with everything I needed. And even more than that!

If you end up in his care, he will be your brother, father, uncle, tour guide - whatever you may need during your stay.

The food exceeded all expectations, and I feel lucky to have stayed while the restaurant was open. Generous breakfasts and delicious lunches and dinners, varied and carefully prepared.

Asante sana/Multumesc for everything, and I hope to come back soon!

Pros:

Beach Escape er et sted, hvor man sagtes kan bo i længere tid.
Vi boede her i 3 uger og det var skønt, fordi:
1. Manegerne var hele tiden på stedet, så det var nemt med kommunikationen om alle relevante spørgsmål.
2. Omgangstonen var fri og le. Vi kunne bare spørge, og vores ønsker blev opfyldt.
3. Værelsesrengøringen var helt i top, med nye kreationer med håndklæder og blomster, en daglig glæde.
4. Beliggenheden er fantastisk lige ned til Det Indiske Ocean med lagune, rev, og det bedste badevand og den skønneste brede sandstrand.
6. Her serves frisk fisk lige køb på stranden fra fiskerne.
5. Et godt sted for endnu at få et glimt af det oprindelige Zanzibar.
