best location for a Waikiki stay period
The staff was wonderful as usual. We stay here once a year it's a getaway from kailua to relax eat and watch movies
This time we had a problem with the t v.It wouldn't let us rent movies. So we had to watch the plain old TV stations for the first night. Eventually, they could not fix the problem. So they upgraded us to a better room. And we was able to rent movies.
So all in all it was nothing to do with the staff. It was a computer glitch.
Location, staff, pool, internet speed, comfort of our beds, proximity to Cheesecake Factory!
They could offer beach chairs like some other Waikiki hotels do
Nice hotel. Great location. Front desk host Kristina was very friendly and helpful. Great first impression. Nice room and view.
My family are currently staying here and it’s been a wonderful experience!
Kristina checked us in at the front desk and was super friendly, kind, and helpful with our sleeping toddler.
The bell desk team were also super helpful and kind while assisting with our luggage.
The hotel location is excellent, the rooms are modern, and everything is super close even for Waikiki standards.
We ran into the floor housekeeper, Taciana, who was also super sweet and checked in on us to see if we needed anything.
We received breakfast vouchers for the cafe which we took advantage of and it was great!
Having stayed at other resorts in the area as well as luxury accommodations, I can confidently say the Beachcomber staff and service are excellent choices and I highly recommend booking a room here!
The only thing this hotel truly has going for it is the location. Beyond that, the amenities were very basic and did not feel in line with the price point or brand.
I stayed here on the final leg of my 60th birthday trip after traveling through Japan and Seoul, and thought stopping in Hawaii for a few days would be a nice way to end the journey. I hadn’t been to Hawaii since 1992 and was really looking forward to it.
I arrived at the hotel between 10:30-11:00 AM and was told check-in wasn’t until 3:00 PM, which I understand. However, I was also told that for $100, I could check in early. I declined and was advised to check back around 1:30 PM.
When I asked for a copy of my bill, it showed Room 1705 assigned and the front desk person advised a $100 incidental hold. We left our bags and went to grab something to eat. While walking through the lobby, we noticed several guests resting or napping on chairs and sofas — clearly also waiting for rooms. Seating was very limited and the lobby really needed an update.
When we returned around 1:30 PM, the room still wasn’t available. I was then told I could receive a “free upgrade,” but only if I paid the $100 early check-in fee. I was also told, “This is why Australians book the day before so they have a room when they check in in the morning.” That comment felt unnecessary and dismissive.
At this point, the lobby was crowded with guests waiting. If rooms were truly available, it felt like the hotel was prioritizing charging early check-in fees over guest comfort. We eventually found loungers by the pool and waited there.
When we were finally checked in, I was surprised to be assigned Room 504, not the 1705 listed on my earlier paperwork. When I asked about this, I was simply told that room was no longer available.
Unfortunately, Room 504 was one of the worst hotel rooms I’ve ever stayed in:
Located right next to the elevator — constant dinging and noise
The “view” was a roof with very loud HVAC units
The room’s heating system was noisy and made sleeping difficult
Visible mold in the shower (photos taken)
The gap under the door was so large my entire flip-flop slid underneath. (photos taken)
After staying in hotels in Japan and Seoul, this room was a huge letdown especially for a milestone birthday trip. I am a seasoned traveler and a GHA DISCOVERY member, and this experience fell far below expectations for the price, brand, and loyalty expectations. Had I been staying more than two nights, I would have actively looked for another hotel to move to.
Final thoughts:
✔️ Excellent location
❌ Very basic amenities
❌ Poor room quality
❌ Noisy and uncomfortable accommodations
❌ Check-in process felt focused on upselling rather than hospitality
I would not stay here again and would not recommend this hotel unless location is your only priority.
Michael F was the kindest person to be greeted by. The day was so stressful but he made me feel so much better by the simplicity of presence. I truly appreciate him. This hotel is so blessed to have him working here. One of a kind guy.
Great location. So convenient. Easy walk to everything. Clean rooms and great staff. Great views (25th floor). I highly recommend.
Amazing hotel and staff. Location was amazing, so close to everything!
Great hotel, wonderful staff
If I’m to be critical I would suggest it’s getting a bit old now and moving toward refurb time, but it’s well maintained by the team.
Every employee was helpful and charismatic
Loved everything about it.
