Sant'Angelo - Le Residenze

We only stayed one night. Very stylish hotel. Good location. Very good breakfast in a beautiful setting in a building typical for the town of Matera. The town itself is rather magical.

Great location, really good breakfast and staff were very helpful. Ok room but was surprised the room didn’t have a safe, tv or phone given it was a 4 star hotel.

Had a great stay in the cave accommodations. Chic and roomy. Parked at a designated garage and the hotel provided transport both for an additional fee. Breakfast was amazing. A great slow start to the day and the town is magical to explore. Only down fall was no early check in during 90+ degree heat but allowed baggage to be stowed

Hotel, staff & restaurant fantastic - room 13 with a balcony was amazing to sit there and take everything in - wow.......
The whole town is amazing and would recommend a visit - we took a Ape tour in a Tuk Tuk round the whole town which was great to get to see everywhere first - then we could wander round ourselves after knowing where to go.

You can spend so much time doing your research on hotels to stay at in a city you've yet to visit, only to hope you chose the right spot. Take my word for it, if you're choosing Sant' Angelo, you are choosing right! Immediately upon arrival the staff welcomed me with such hospitality to a city that is a MUST on your travel list (the art, the history, the caves, and the people make it all worth it) - To the staff like Biagio, who helped with my luggage on the cobblestone and offered incredible recommendations throughout my stay, and Francesco at the front entrance of Regina Corte restaurant who greeted me for breakfast in the morning and dinner in the evening (even if you don't stay here... the dinner here is a must) - thank you for such kindness and hospitality - it's because of people like you (and of course, the hiking, sunsets, and views of Matera) that will make me come back. Sleeping in a cave that still had a luxurious feel was a top level experience, the quiet mornings overlooking the hillside was a dream, but again I cannot emphasize enough the top level of hospitality. It really matters when you are somewhere new to be with people who REALLY know the area - that can offer recommendations of the beaten path, and make you feel at home. Gratzie to the entire staff at Sant Angelo. In America, we have a phrase "it takes a village" - it took each one of you to make this such a smooth first stop on my trip. I will be back!

We wanted to stay in the Sassi and Matera was the one place on our road trip that had "luxury" hotels, so we decided to go to the Sant'Angelo Residenze. So happy with our choice. The room was about 300 metres from the main hotel. It was was really comfortable, spacious and tastefully decorated and furnished. Reception was very helpful, recommended a nice restaurant for dinner.

From the arrival at the carpark, transfer to the hotel and being greeted with such professional staff, all was a breeze, considering the roads closure due to G7 meeting, the Caveroom was a dream, diner at the restaurant was superb with the breathtaking view of Matera at night...breakfast superb and cafe by the barista Michele( sorry if wrong spelling) delicious , we couldn't stay longer, was my only lament..

The rooms are located in different buildings in the old town of Sassi. The rooms are equipped with every comfort and offer an authentic experience. The breakfast buffet is fantastic. The shuttle service from the parking garage to the hotel worked very well.

Spent one night only in Sante'angelo - Le Residenze ... it was fabulous in every way. Our room had an amazing view and a beautiful balcony. The design and furnishings were simple but stylish. The staff were amazing.
I really can't wait to go back. A little bit of heaven in the most beautiful setting imaginable.

Absolutely amazing! The room, location, staff, breakfast, everything was breathtaking! Amazing service! The room was very spacious, the bathroom had a great and big shower area and there was also a balcony in the bathroom. Amazing view from the Sassi! Everything was very well thought, very cool architecture!

It was really wonderful experience.
Staff were extremely friendly, always smiling, ver polite and helpful.
They brought our luggage to the room and did not allow to carry it on our own.
Room was beautifully decorated and integrated into to the cave. Wow!

Breakfast is served in amazingly refurbished cave restaurant with a terrace to Matera. Food selection is a VIP class - from ordinary scrambled egg to fresh cheese and Michelin chef prepared pastries. Book your time to enjoy slow breakfast and celebrate life for such gourmet moments:)
Matera itself got some magic- you may walk those stony streets all day long and enjoy each corner for a beautiful pictures and restaurant with amazing food and souvenir shops.

We had a car. Hotel offers city parking and transfer from parking to hotel and backwards. This service costs 45 eur for the first night and 30 eur for the each next night. So it is really convenient and you do not need to take care about your car. Because parking in ancient Matera is allowed just with permission.
Next time we would stay ant Sant'Angelo without any doubts again:)

The room was one of the best rooms I have ever stayed in. They kindly upgraded us as there was a spare room and the staff were amazing from start to finish. The views from the room we stayed in were utterly amazing and we had an unbelievable time. Would highly reccomend!

Beautiful hotel. Doing some restoration now but not a burden in any way. Room was spacious and clean. The property is actually spread out over several nearby structures, which adds to the overall appeal. Breakfast was in a modified cave and was a very good buffet. Service overall excellent, especially Mikhail, Katarina, and the breakfast staff.

The staff was wonderful help us arrange a taxi to and from the bus station. Michele was the sweetest and made a wonderful breakfast each morning. The hotel is in a great part of town and close to many cafes and restaurants. Only wish the suite offered a shower and the ac was a little better but we really enjoyed our stay.

The locstion is excellent but you cannot access it by your car at it's a restricted area. The property is a real cave. The bath room is small. The breakfast is very good. 2 nights are more than enough.

Michele and Iris were very nice for helping with the delicious breakfast.

Thank you Michele and staff for what was one of the best vacations we ever had. Room was stunning, and Michele, Iris and Simona were extremely helpful, kind and lovely. Michele’s breakfast was outstanding. The whole experience was one of the best we’ve ever had and we’ve travelled a lot.
