Such a beautiful little hotel, lovely staff who were so helpful and accommodating and rooms clean and comfortable.
Just the noise from the music bars nearby, and for safety reasons a couple of the steps in corridors need a painted line or sign to show where step ends .
Excellent staff. Breakfast was excellent
Great position in the heart of the old town
Stunning building with all modern amenities
With a lift which I think maybe quite unusual
Rooms beautiful
Rooftop Restaurant superb
“The host was friendly, great food, the room was clean and quiet, and the location was perfect.
Lovely little rooftop cafe in the heart of Kotor. Montenegro.
Аутентичный и стильный интерьер, хотелось сфотографировать каждый уголок. Безумно вкусные завтраки с видом на старый город, приветливый персонал, в целом камерная атмосфера гостиницы✨

The location within Kotor’s Old Town was excellent, offering easy access to the historic sites and a vibrant nightlife scene. While prices were on the higher side, they were justified by the prime setting and overall experience. The amenities were excellent and well-maintained. One small suggestion for improvement would be to prepare the omelette with butter rather than oil, as this would enhance its flavor
Flott beliggenhet, snille og hjelpsomt personale
Var en del maur på rommet
Nada
Ruidos molestos y música fuerte hasta altas horas de la noche.
Desayuno restringido.
Baños pequeños y sin accesorios.
Room was extremely comfortable, service was impeccable, rooftop restaurant was amazing.
Noise into the morning from nearby clubs. But we were warned!!
Lokacija čistoća krevet osoblje
Sve odlično!
My favorite place to stay in Kotor. Lovely suite. Comfortable, so clean, great amenities. Perfect location in Old Town. Breakfast every morning was exceptional. Terrace dining beautiful. Plus, the most incredible people working there. Helped in every way they could to make my stay the best it could be. Highly recommend.
We stayed at the Hotel Hippocampus for two evenings while on a trip through the Western Balkans. The hotel is located within the town's fortress walls, and therefore, we had to pull our suitcases across a cobblestone path for several minutes to reach it. This was actually kind of fun.
Hotel Hippocampus is classified as a “Boutique Hotel” which in this case I guess means small. Anyway, the reception area is “very” small. The staff was friendly enough, but check in took a while since there were 7 people in our group. Our room, 102, was on the first floor, which was convenient since the hotel's elevator was barely large enough for one person and one suitcase. It was simply quicker and easier to carry our suitcases up the steps. The room itself was average size, and interestingly furnished. The bathroom was on the small side, but had lots of amenities.
The hotel does need some modernizing. We had to have our door lock fixed since the key to our room did not work. I got the impressions this was not new from the man who fixed the lock. Also, the safe in our room could not be opened which I assume was because the previous guest locked it prior to leaving. The staff did not know how to fix it. The refrigerator did not cool and the sink in our bathroom did not drain. The towels in the room were also very thin.
The included breakfast was off a menu not buffet style like all the others on our trip. This was not really a problem, except there were only two options. One option that included eggs was on the small side. The other option was a bowl of oatmeal, and that was it, just a bowl of oatmeal.
However, our biggest issue with the Hotel Hippocampus was not the hotel itself. There is a nightclub just outside the hotel that blasted music until past 11:00PM. I assume there is nothing the hotel can do about this, but as a guest it is a REAL issue. So if you stay here, make sure you have ear plugs – good ones.
Not all was bad, since the location is good, there are lots of close by restaurants, and the staff is friendly. However, just getting a good night's sleep because of the noise was a major issue.
Excellent hotel in the old town. Great breakfast and evening meals. Helpful staff.
There is no car parking in the old town as it’s vehicle free. The area can be noisy at night due to the number of bars.
