We had a lovely holiday at this fine hotel. Great choice of food and a comfortable bedroom. The staff are kind and helpful and the area is delightful. There are critical reviews of this hotel out there but they say more about the writer than the hotel. Yes it is 850 metres from the beach but that information is clearly stated. The price reflects that as well. There is so much to do in the area.
Cleaning staff could be a bit less noisy
Me & my hubby stayed here & found the hotel to be lovely we booked bed & breakfast for 2 weeks, the hotel was extremely clean & well run.The staff were all very friendly & the cleaners worked very hard to keep everywhere very clean & tidy - we had a lovely relaxing stay
We have been to this hotel eight times and once again we had a wonderful time. The hotel is a small family run hotel. Nothing is to much trouble for the staff they are warm welcoming and friendly. There is a very good choice of food ,swimming pool is lovely with an excellent view .We will be returning next year. Cannot fault anything . Denise and Trevor Lyon
Belle chambre spacieuse
Emplacement bruyant
Salle de déjeuner trop petite
Attente trop longue aux machines à café
Qualité de la nourriture moyenne
Room was slightly slightly dated but perfectly functionable. Breakfast had lots of choice, and pool area was very nice. Access to the hotel is quite steep but still doesn’t take too long to get to the beach. Would recommend/stay again.
hello . So the hotel is the most noisy hotel we ever stay in. in the night or early in the morning was the most noise like we were in a train station.
the door have a big space between and i guess that is why. and one more thing we didnt had not a single bottle of water in the room when we arrived, clearly not expecting that for a hotel like that.
Nice, clean hotel with decent facilities. We knew the location was up a long, pretty steep hill and were prepared for that as we are reasonably fit 60 somethings lol. We walked down to the bottom many times and also walked up a few times in the day. There is a free minibus transfer down/up every couple of hours but last journey up is 9pm so if you are out and about after that a taxi from the bottom to the top will cost €8- Although the first time we flagged a taxi down, he charged us 10. It isn’t lit very well for a night walk.
We were half board and found that from the bottom of the hill along the main resort road, there were hardly any bars just to call for a drink, as they tended to be restaurants which were full of people having meals. This part of Agia Marina wasn’t really our cup of tea but would probably have been better if we were looking for restaurants. There were a few beach bars but towards the end of our holiday, they weren’t open after 6pm.
Enough about location.
The hotel itself has a nice big swimming pool and children’s pool. The pool bar has a good selection of meals/snacks and drinks and unlike another reviewer we had no issues with the music. It was quite modern. Teddy Swims, Lewis Capaldi etc. Service at the pool bar was a bit hit and miss as it wasn’t constantly manned. It was the barman that drove the minibus so he would leave the bar at certain times and nobody would stand in for him. Sometimes other bar staff would disappear only to reappear if they saw that somebody was waiting (cctv).
There was a small gym but each time you wanted to use it, you’d have to go to reception on the floor below for a card to open the door and then make the return journey to take it back.
Breakfast was plentiful and although not a huge choice for evening meals, what was on offer was always well cooked and tasty. The set up of the buffet area was a bit clumsy with not enough room for people to queue or pass if it was a busy time. The seating area was nice and airy with huge open doors overlooking the sea, you can also eat at outside tables.
The staff were professional but I can’t say we experienced the usual Greek hospitality. The waiters barely looked at you in the restaurant, let alone smile or say good morning (the exception was 1 lovely lady whose name I didn’t get.) The cleaners did a good job but again didn’t look or smile when you passed them chatting in groups. They would reply when I instigated a Kalimera.
We upgraded to a superior room which was spacious but the air con was pretty noisy. No hanging space for dresses in the wardrobe as there was a shelf underneath the rail, making anything longer than a shirt, rest on the shelf causing creasing.
We always enjoy our Greek holidays and we did enjoy the meals we had and time spent around the pool but this hotel/ area isn’t one we will be back to.
Amazing breakfast with a good variaty of food.
The rooms where very confortable and with a good space.
Nous avons passé un agréable séjour le petit déjeuner était copieux la piscine très bien mais manquait de bains de soleil au Vu du nombre de personnes le personnel très agréable la plage et les commerces étaient situés entre 800 m et 1000 m au bas de la colline.
Hotel was exceptionally clean and is a little out of the way, which makes for a peaceful nights sleep. Staff are really friendly and helpful. You can hire towels for the pool for €1.00 per day. Great views, as it’s on the hillside. Excellent storage in the room and walk in shower too, with toiletries and hair dryer provided. You can walk to the main area which was numerous shops, bars, restaurants and there’s also a land train service too. The walk is 15 minutes or you can use the free hotel shuttle. The food is buffet style breakfast and dinner. The snacks at lunch time are very big portions. The local restaurants serve big portions too and represent good value. You can pop on a bus to Chania, which is worth visiting both day time and evening. The only thing missing for me would be coffee/tea etc in the room to use with kettle, cups etc provided. Thanks Eleftheria, we had a lovely time.
A well run hotel just a little outside the Main Street of Agia Marina on a hillside.
The location puts this hotel in a quieter zone for a restful sleep away from club or bar noise, but near enough to visit the main town when needed.
The hotel is well laid out in separate blocks with either a garden or a sea view.
Nicely decorated, we had a good size room with firm comfortable beds and a large powerful shower room and toilet.
The room was cleaned every day and towels every three days.
The pool is a nice size and has enough beds for everyone, along with a nice bar area that does great pizzas and burgers for daytime eating, and the main restaurant was large with lovely sea view tables that could be inside or out depending on your choice. The buffet menu for breakfast is excellent with a huge choice of fresh meats, cheeses, breads and cereals, and of course fruits and yoghurts, along with hot options of eggs, bacon, sausage, vegetables, pancakes and such.
We also tried the evening buffet which was good value and again had a nice mix of cold starters, soup, salads and dips, along with hot choices of chicken, pork, fish, pasta, mousakka and other Greek cuisine, and hot vegetables and potatoes. There were also dessert choices of cheesecakes, mousses, fruits and jellies and cakes etc.
The hotel staff were great and helped us book excursions. They also answered any questions we had and were all pleasant to deal with.
A minibus can be booked to take you down to the Main Street and beach front and then pick you up at later times of the day or evening, which helped a lot as the hill is steep in hot weather and a bit of a struggle to climb up.
The hotel also had a small gym which was free and free air con use should you want it on, but we just left the balcony door open at night.
A safe in the room can be rented cheaply and the doors are card entry and have handy buttons to set for do not disturb and clean room and check out etc.
For a three star hotel I would say you get a lot for your money here. We had free Wi-Fi throughout our stay and everything we needed for our holiday.
The location might be a bit remote for some and the hill could possibly be an issue although we had no problem booking the minibus in advance to get around as needed.
The only tiny grumble I had was the music round the pool got very repetitive at times with endless rap mixes of 90’s records , and with the bar staff not always next to the bar and changing shifts, I think they forgot to change channels that regularly, but when I mentioned it a few times they did change the selection.
A lovely hotel and great value for money.
Swimming pool was lovely
Tutto.
Fint beliggenhet litt oppe i fjellet. Kjempe fin utsikt.
