The Royal Hotel

Visited in early October, knowing that it was not going to be great.

The positives were room was decent size and was pretty clean. Facilities were basic but passable, towels changed daily. Reception looks very nice and Lenka was very welcoming and helpful. Handy views if you like aircraft.

Negatives were numerous. Room had hooks hanging off the wall. Often smell of drains from the shower. Constant planes landing and taking off, and don't believe who says you can't hear them. Restaurant for breakfast was ok but no change in 11 days we were there. Bar not open at all. Pool area is overgrown. Beds are dirty and damp as left out in the rain. Pool area very run down. Decking loose in places. Pool was very cold and could do with a clean. Cafe linked to hotel had the most obnoxious staff. Rude and couldn't be bothered.

Would never return to this hotel but Corfu is fantastic.

First time in Greece and we had a brilliant holiday, this hotel is beautiful staff are very friendly and welcoming. If I ever do come back to Corfu I’ll be staying here again. Poolside is nice, food is nice, and hotel room is nice also loved staying here so accommodating

Clean and tidy, lovely staff, very good value for money. No do not disturb sign for the doors and cleaning keycards override the guest locks (ask me how I know)!

Clean comfortable room, nice bed, friendly staff. Very close to airport. Only thing that was a problem was wifi not working

Fantastic holiday at the Royal Grand hotel, couldn’t fault anything. Reception staff were amazing can’t do enough for you . Rooms were cleaned daily with fresh towels every day .
Location was good, plenty of places to drink and eat but if you get bored you can get a bus which is really cheap

We arrived to find we had only one bed even though we had requested two twins. The man at the desk was apologetic and polite and eventually arranged for a cot to be put in the room. The breakfast is really quite nice and the room itself was okay but a bit noisy with the runway close by and the fridge in the room squawked and squeaked.

A really good 3* hotel. We stayed in room 101 haha. It had a great view of the runway, and a nice little balcony but when the door was closed there was very little aircraft noise. Big comfy bed and great aircon. Small bathroom (the norm for Greece). Lots of hot water and great water pressure. Our room was serviced every day. Clean towels every day and sheets changed every couple of days. All the staff were really helpful and friendly. The pool was nice with plenty of sun beds. Breakfast consisted of a very wide range of foods. Well presented and tasty too. Also the veranda bar is excellent with great cocktails.While there are lifts to the rooms, there are steps from outside to reception and steps down to the pool so if mobility is a problem it may not be right for you but otherwise couldn't recommend the place enough.

We stayed here for a week and had a mixed experience. The location is excellent – only 10 minutes by car or 20 minutes by bus to Corfu Town, with plenty to do nearby such as swimming, visiting the small island by boat, and enjoying the views and church close to the hotel. Rooms felt modern, clean, and comfortable with good AC, though the ceiling fan was dirty and the “garden view” was really just a road. Cleaning service was very good, and check-out was smooth.

The biggest downside was the parking situation. It’s unclear where guests should park, and when I called the hotel, one receptionist was rude and unhelpful – the only unfriendly staff we met all trip. Luckily, another receptionist was very kind and even moved her own car for us. Parking often filled up because tourists visiting the viewpoint would also use the hotel spaces.

Breakfast was fine, mainly English style, and the pool was nice, though the pool area and games room felt run down. The bar was rarely open and it was oddly difficult to get something as simple as two wine glasses for the room. The WiFi was extremely slow and open (not secure),
Despite these issues, the hotel’s location, views, and overall room quality make it a decent choice, but improvements in service, facilities, and parking management would make a big difference

This place need some love and attention
There are some things that need looking at like some more steps to the pool and weeding in the public areas and some general care.
We ordered toastie and chips from the bar and a salad and it came without the chips and forks
When asked about it they said one moment took ages to come then only came with fork and yet 20 mins and salad now hit in baking sun.
Also the salad was 11 euros and just lettuce ham and egg not very good value.
We saw the feta salad yesterday that looked lovely so thought would be similar

Pros:
* good location, bus stop nearby with bus that costs €1.20-€2.00 to get to corfu town as well as a couple really nice restaurants near by.
* basic amenities you need fridge,safe,aircon Ect.

However it is important to note:
* the aeroplanes are very very loud- hard to sleep sometimes (maybe didn’t help we had a broken door)
* bathroom door in room has a big gap and doesn’t lock
* average breakfast not amazing but for the price it’s ok.
* Wifi cut out occasionally for us.
overall would recommend corfu is beautiful !! ⭐️⭐️⭐️

The hotel was tired with poor attention to detail.

We had a lovely stay at this great hotel, the receptionists were all very helpful and we had a great view from our room. We thought the hotel was in a handy location, close to Corfu town, which is easily accessible via bus. Also, walking distance to the beautiful Monastery of Vlacherna, where you can also get a boat to Mouse Island. Lots of nice restaurants and shops close by too.

The Good
The reception staff were excellent and went above and beyond to help us throughout our stay, which we truly appreciated. Our room was cleaned daily with fresh sheets, and we personally enjoyed watching the planes take off right outside the balcony — though this may not suit guests who are sensitive to noise.

The Bad
It did feel as though Love Holidays guests were placed in an older section of the hotel that is in need of refurbishment. While the rooms were serviced daily, there were some noticeable cleanliness issues (see pictures). We also raised concerns about soiled pillows, a blocked shower drain, a blocked sink, and the lack of a balcony table. The hotel did respond to these issues, but it was clear that the main building offered a much higher standard, with newer bedding and the added convenience of tea and coffee facilities.

The pool area was very run down. The surrounding areas were unloved, and full of weeds. Felt a bit abandoned.

The Ugly
Unfortunately, the hotel bar was a disappointing experience. Service was extremely slow, and apart from one helpful male staff member, the bar staff came across as quite rude. Guests were often left waiting a long time for drinks, which really impacted the overall atmosphere.

Summary
While the reception team’s efforts stood out in a very positive way, the contrast between the room quality and bar service ultimately brought our experience down to an average score. It has also made us more hesitant to book budget package deals in the future, as it felt like we were placed in less favorable accommodation.

The staff are amazing and very helpful. The location is convenient, not far from the airport, and there’s a public bus that takes you directly to the main town. The kids loved the swimming pool and the pool games.Apart from some plane noise, it’s a great place to stay with family

All good! Arrived on 12the August checked in. During the check in they offer the activities which might you will be interested in. Since it was late afternoon and from the flight feel a bit tired and decided to use the pool. The pool ok. My room is clean. Maintenance a bit need to improve. The window of my room is closing but you cant lock it. Breakfast is good lot of options specially if you're a big eater in the morning. My favorite is the greek yogurt.
