Eins der schönsten Hotels ever....
Pros:

Co. Bis bestimmt bald.

Pros:

We stayed in this Hotel in December for 4 nights. The Hotel is very load as there is music at the pool the whole day. In particular on Sunday there were a lot of outside guests and it was very load. Breakfast was ok however we got everyday less to eat. Our bath room was not cleaned in four days. They made up only the bed. Overall the Hotel was dirty and run down. I am sure this place has been great years ago. Unfortunately there is no safe in the room. WIFI is often not working. Personal is not friendly.

Wow!
Pros:

What an unbelievable place to stay in Iquitos! This property is a historical gem that is owner operated by an amazing film producer giving a new name to hospitality. This is a custom made oasis in Iquitos built to house film stars in the late 70's and early 80's. The property is immaculate and is designed by Walter himself who is still operating the property. It has all the modern creature comforts with an impeccable sense of style and culture that represented Iquitos in the rubber boom. The food served here is amazing and the staff is great. If your have the opportunity to stay here do yourself the favor and stay as long as you can!

Un lugar muy tranquilo y agradable
Pros:

Astonishing creation of beauty.
Pros:

Somehow, Walter has created a garden of Eden in the depths of the amazon jungle in iquitos. His little paradise offers travellers a wonderful, lluxerious refuge where teh welcome is wholesome and teh food is the best you'll find in peru - fillet steak, amazon fish, chicken - all cooked on teh charcoal grill, and cevice not to be found on a pacific island. I will come back to the house of fitzcaraldo again some day....

Deceptive
Pros:

We were SUPER frustrated in the end with our stay! The price ended up being 3 times the original receipt that I was emailed in Expedia. Once we arrived they offered us a bigger room, never once saying that it was more expensive or the price, just saying that they could apply the same "discuento" to the room, and when we asked several times if we would pay the same price that we had in our Expedia receipt, they answered in the affirmative. Uggh, it was a very manipulated conversation in the end, come to find out, when we saw that the price for the room at the end of our stay was tripled. :(

Safe resort like hotel in the city
Pros:

The very engaging owner met me upon arrival and made me feel at home in his hotel. The food is excellent and well priced, music is appropriate for tourists with an interest in art/culture,this is a hotel with the namesake of a famous movie after all.I have lived in Peru,on and off, for many years and lived in many areas of the country. La Casa Fitzcarraldo in one of my favourites to date. There are intimate areas around the pool, amongst the plants for private dinner as well as large open areas for a group get together.

I CAN get some satisfaction.
Pros:

Casa Fitzcarraldo provided perfect bookends to our Amazon adventure, giving us a quiet place to chill away from the craziness of Iquitos.
Walter was a lovely host, arranging for free taxi service to and from the airport. He even upgraded us to the blue (Mick Jagger) room .
Grounds are lush, with an inviting pool and treehouse. A full menu is available if you prefer to hole up at the hotel.
Internet connection was excellent (best we had in Peru).
Don't miss the chance to play with Walter's pet ocelot.

My Hotel Fitzcarraldo stay
Pros:

Pros: The pool and grounds are lovely. My room was simple and clean. The tree house was so fun to climb. I could see hiding away for a romantic weekend there, sitting by the pool with a drink and my sweetie.

Cons: The hotel is quite far from the center of town - it is a 15 minute motorcar ride to get to where the action is. The hotel boasts that they speak several languages but after several attempts to try and communicate with the staff I didn't find anyone that spoke English.

Unusual hotel, a small bit of paradise.
Pros:

Step into a another world away from the traffic outside. Very good food both in the evening and at breakfast. Unfortunately we thought we had booked a double room with two single beds and had to share a fouble bed.

a real tropical oasis
Pros:

We loved the setting with many beautiful and interesting plants around the open courtyards and the pool. The owner, Walter Saxer was very helpful in suggesting the dinner and getting us to the airport on time. He also arranged for a local guide who provided us with a great tour of the city -- the market, Iron House, Rubber Barron Houses, Ethnographic Museum, and other Iquitos sights. We highly recommend that guide, May "Mike" Jony Ariaga Chavez. The included breakfast was excellent and we enjoyed dining on several dishes based on the local fish as well as Mick Jagger chicken. The staff was very attentive and helpful.

Riding in a motocar is the quickest way to get to the city center, and that is part of experiencing Iquitos. The Belen Market is not to be missed. It is so large that a guide is very helpful in navigating the many rooms. The Ethnographic Museum includes ceremonial dress of many of the Amazonian cultural groups. The Iron House is not spectacular but it is important historically. The rubber baron houses are lovely and we were able to see the inside of one that is now a historical museum. There is a manatee rescue site at the edge of town where you can bottle feed the young manatees.

Haven from busy Iquitos centre
Pros:

La Casa Fitzcarraldo for us was perfect. You are located only 10 mins from the center and by taxi this 3 soles( not much!). We stayed in the Blue Room over looking the beautifully kept gardens and pool, it was clean and had a great shower. Breakfast was a really gem, Norma the cook is on hand to make the start of your day a good one. The hotel is not for you if want flash and modern, it has a stunning rustic/ classic twist and is run by a wonderful guy called Walter who makes the place just charming. I would return anyday.
