Our stay at Casona Alonso was truly excellent, thanks to the outstanding service and dedicated staff. This small hotel is tastefully decorated, blending historical architecture with modern amenities.
Our room was spacious with a comfortable, mid-firm bed. We loved the French press for quality coffee or herbal tea – a welcome change from typical hotel offerings. Our terrace room offered a great view of the Basilica. The bathroom, though small, had good water pressure and hot water.
The hotel restaurant serves upscale, outstanding Mexican food with beautiful presentation.
The location is unbeatable, less than 5 minutes' walk to the Basilica, funicular, and Juarez Theater. What's more, it's on a quiet side of town, which is amazing considering its proximity to all the major attractions. You won't need a car to explore Guanajuato from here.
Parking is free but off-site; a 10-minute, $90 pesos taxi ride is needed. Call the hotel for directions and parking access.
Crucially, the hotel has no elevator. Our room was on a higher floor (3rd-4th), and all rooms are from the second up, making for a significant climb. This hotel would be extremely difficult for guests with mobility or endurance issues.

Una opción realmente comoda, con excelente ubicación en el centro de guanajuato a espaldas del teatro juarez. Hermosa decoración, excelente limpieza y servicio. Nos ayudaron en todo momento a conseguir taxi y opciones de spa. Su restaurante tambien muy rico, prueben su panaderia. Regresariamos!
Location is great and the staff pleasant
The music blasting until 3 am from the downstairs bar. The hotel should warn guest who expect to get a quiet please to stay away.
Everything from the hotel to the staff was amazing. The food was delicious. Location was perfect and was in walking distance to majority everything we wanted to see.
The Location is very convenient
There's clubbing event downstairs almost every night we were there. Very loud till 2am in the morning. Could not go to sleep even with ear plugs at all.
It was such a beautiful and quaint property. So close to the city center and the hustle and bustle but also far away from it. It was very quiet and just very charming.
There’s nothing I can say negatively about this property.
The property is beautiful and the staff were all friendly and helpful. We really appreciated the offer of tequila upon check-in. The only downside at check-in was that our room was on the fourth floor with no elevator, and lugging our luggage up the stairs after a long day of travel was not fun. The woman who showed us to our room offered to help, but I wasn't going to ask HER to lug my luggage...
We also wished we could have had a place to enjoy a drink while we awaited our car service, but we were told the restaurant was undergoing a shift change (at 1:00 p.m. on a Sunday afternoon, right during the lunch hour...) and that would be impossible.
Otherwise we recommend this hotel!

Music from the bar was unbearably loud on a Saturday night and went on to past 1am.
The hotel is an amazing place and the rooms are very spacious. The hotel team is super kind and helpful. The food is to die for and the cocktail bar is a hidden gem. The bed and linen are amazing.
In our room we didn't have internet and they didn't get it to work in 3 days. They tried but unfortunately. The bar and street are very loud at night.
Property was lovely. Room was spacious, clean, and beautiful. The staff were helpful, professional, and fantastic. The restaurant was top notch, the food was incredible, presentation beautiful, wait-staff were the best of the best - so kind, helpful, patient, and just the very best!
El hotel esta muy bien ubicado y es bonito, con habitaciones amplias y cómodas. Buen restaurante -sobre todo el desayuno. Pero tiene un bar o antro en el sótano que toca música fuerte hasta la 1 o 2. El ruido llega directo a las habitaciones. Imposible dormir o descansar. Después del cierre del bar los empleados recogen todo oyendo música fuerte sin consideración para los huéspedes
Pasamos toda la noche haciendo corajes y quejándonos al igual que otros huéspedes. El Hotel podría ser excelente pero no sabe cuál es su vocación: Es un Hotel boutique de lujo o un antro ruidoso ? Tendría que definirse
