I booked a room at Meliá Vienna in advance for an important special occasion. On the morning of my check-in, I received a call from a manager informing me that my room would not be available due to a problem with the bathtub. The only alternative offered was a lower-category room. This was extremely disappointing and, unfortunately, already spoiled the mood of my celebration before I had even arrived.
I chose this hotel mainly because of its location and the promise of beautiful panoramic views. In reality, the view from the room was not impressive at all. Even worse, the panoramic windows throughout the hotel were noticeably dirty, which made the overall impression quite poor. It even seemed that the staff prepared the room with the curtains closed so guests would not immediately notice how dirty the windows were.
Overall, this may be an acceptable hotel for a short business trip, but nothing more. It is definitely not suitable for a romantic stay or a special occasion. The Meliá Level concept also felt very poorly executed: no real priority check-in or check-out, very limited amenities, and nothing that felt special or premium.
Everything felt rather plain, uninspiring, and disappointing. I cannot recommend this hotel for a special or romantic stay.
Extremely disappointing experience. As guests with milk and gluten intolerances, we were shocked by the complete lack of accommodation at breakfast. We were simply told “sorry, there’s nothing we can offer,” with no effort whatsoever to help.
Beyond that, the breakfast selection in general was very limited, the service was nonexistent, and cleanliness standards were far below expectations.
Checking in at the reception took 30 minutes as their machines were not working.
Room service, the bars, and all restaurants close before 11 PM, leaving guests with no possibility to eat later in the evening. Overall, a very frustrating and upsetting stay that did not meet even basic hospitality standards.
