Waldorf Astoria Amsterdam

This is, as many reviewers have mentioned, an ideally located hotel in Amsterdam. In spite of its centrality, the property retains a welcoming and tranquil vibe. The level of service and attentiveness is quintessential WA. From the moment of arrival, throughout the stay and checkout, we were made to feel welcomed. Upon arrival, we were met by Dominique, who seemed to appear out of nowhere. He assisted us with our luggage and accompanied us to the reception area. Lisa assisted us with the formalities and then took us up to our room where we were pleasantly surprised to have been upgraded to a room with a canal view.
The room was clean and inviting. Room amenities were adequate and we really enjoyed the view especially in the mornings before the city was fully awake. We had no issues with noise from the canal cruises going by or the fact that a busy street was steps away. Attention to cleanliness was obvious throughout the property.
We are grateful to all the staff we encountered who made our stay memorable. Thanks to Lisa who gave us a quick tour of the property including the vault bar. Carla gifted us a most welcomed souvenir which was especially nice. Julian was always welcoming us back with a smile and helping us with our bags. Even on our way out, Bryton offered water for our journey and tips on getting to Central station.
We thoroughly enjoyed our brief stay and would absolutely recommend this hotel.

The best I’ve stayed in ever

What an amazing stay! ! I used one of my complimentary nights from my Hilton Diamond status because I came into Amsterdam a day early and omg I love this hotel! As soon as my cab stopped in front, a man immediately came down the stairs to help me with my bag and escort me to the check in area. They asked if I wanted anything to drink and I said of course champagne! They gave me two!

I checked in with Lisa who was amazing! She had me pick out a scent for my room. What? I didn’t know that existed! Super fun!

My room wasn’t ready because I had booked late even though it was 3pm but I didn’t mind waiting, especially when they gave me that 2nd glass of champagne.

When I got my room, Lisa and Fae escorted me to the room to make sure I liked it and it was beautiful. I loved how the light came into the bathroom. On that note the bathtub was so nice I almost fell asleep in it!
You receive welcome chocolates in the shape of Amsterdam shoes which were so cute and delicious!

I ordered room service as the bar only served snacks and did not want to go to the restaurant by myself as it was really open. I got the Waldorf Astoria Burger which was amazing and so good! I’d go back to this hotel just for that burger itself.

The next day I also had the breakfast and was able to get the whole tray of assortments and all the juices and coffee I wanted PLUS another dish! All complimentary with my Hilton Diamond status. I ordered the French toast and everything was delicious! Obviously I couldn’t eat it all but was able to take some left to the room for later.

I also had a spa appointment while here. Massage was great and the masseuse mentioned to see a physical therapist to help my lower back pain that I was complaining about as she said it was coming from my glutes, legs, knees. I’ve seen a couple of masseuses in the last two years in the states and one in Canada and NONE had ever even mentioned that that could help. I love this! Very professional staff.
The spa also very serene with sauna, jacuzzi, and pool. They have a door to the garden which I’m assuming is beautiful in summer but I was here in February so it was freezing!

When I checked out it was with Lisa again and she was great as usual and the guys helped me with my bags again when my uber came. They let me sit in the other room and said they’d let me know when it was here. Very nice.

I did not want to leave. Haha!

My stay at the Waldorf Astoria Amsterdam was truly unforgettable. I don’t think I have ever encountered so many genuinely welcoming and warm team members in one hotel. From the moment I arrived, I felt not just welcomed, but sincerely cared for.
What made this stay extra special were the lovely conversations and personal interactions with the staff, every encounter felt natural, kind, and thoughtful.

I visited the Waldorf Astoria in January 2026 on a work trip over 2 weeks. It was my first time here, I have spent over 30 years visiting hotels of this level around the world. I can honestly say that this is the warmest friendly welcome I have ever received in a hotel by every member of staff, I was made to feel like family, but a favourite family member! Not the other kind!!
From the initial lovely welcome at the door right through to the delightful staff working in every area including the room service, laundry, and technical staff walking around the hotel. The staff here are absolutely amazing, if I didn’t have a home, I would choose to live here!
The hotel is situated in a perfect central location, with a canal outside the front door to go for a walk or jump on a boat and see what Amsterdam has to offer.
The food is delicious and the club sandwich which is my go to in every hotel is a strong 9/10.
The rooms are luxurious, spacious and extremely quiet.
If I had to look for negatives in search of perfection, the en suite bathroom towels could be larger and the downstairs breakfast restaurant would be a nice choice for dining in the evening as the tables and chairs are the right height, coffee tables and sofas in lobby are a little low for eating off. So if those are my only negatives, this hotel is absolutely delightful and should be your number one choice when coming to Amsterdam.

Our stay at the Waldorf Astoria Amsterdam in June 2025 was exceptional. I traveled with my teenage daughter to experience the city, which has since become her favorite in the world and the Waldorf Astoria was a perfect base for discovering it.

The hotel is beautiful and steeped in history, set gracefully along the canal yet within an easy walk of the city center. It feels elegant and composed, with a strong sense of place that’s increasingly rare in luxury hotels.

Dining throughout our stay was excellent. Breakfasts felt formal in the best way, unhurried, refined, and consistently delicious, with standout food quality. The wait staff were personable and the service excellent. The rooms were spacious and serene, the beds exceptionally comfortable, and the attention to detail immediately noticeable. From the fixtures and finishes to the pillows, linens, and Aesop products, everything reflected genuine quality. We were also welcomed with beautiful local chocolates, both upon arrival and again in our room, thoughtfully presented and absolutely delicious.

These details matter deeply to me just as they do in my own home and when choosing a luxury hotel, they’re not optional. The Waldorf Astoria delivers across the board. I especially appreciated being asked which scent I preferred for the room upon arrival, as well as the thoughtful farewell gift of a solid perfume, which now lives in my linen closet and still brings back the feeling of our stay.

Amsterdam itself is vibrant, multicultural, and full of life. We experienced several rainy days, which are part of the city’s character, yet the hotel created such a warm and comfortable atmosphere that it never felt like a disruption only a pleasure to return to.

This service deserves special mention. When we realized after departure that my daughter had left her camera behind, the team immediately took care of mailing it back to us in the U.S. without hesitation. That level of ease and attentiveness speaks volumes.

A truly polished and thoughtful luxury experience. We would return without question.

Everything was so pleasant. Staffs are so kind service was very nice. Indoor swimmingpool, sauna, spa, everything was there. Also my room was very beautiful view and bathrooms window was very beautiful

We enjoyed the Afternoon Christmas Tea at the Waldorf Astoria, and it was a truly delightful experience. The Pol Roger Brut Réserve champagne was absolutely delicious, and the ambiance was magical with beautifully decorated surroundings and live piano music adding a festive touch.

The food was a real highlight each item presented like a little work of art, both in taste and appearance. Every detail felt thoughtful, from service to presentation, making this a luxurious and memorable experience. Highly recommended for anyone looking to indulge in a special Christmas tea.

I stayed at the Waldorf Astoria Amsterdam with a friend for two nights and truly enjoyed every moment. From check-in to check-out, everything was seamless, and the entire team was exceptionally friendly, helpful, and attentive. The atmosphere throughout the hotel was warm, cozy, and very welcoming. A special mention goes to Dimitrios at the Front Desk, who, together with the rest of the team, made our stay a truly unforgettable experience.
