Had a great stay was only for 1 night while staying in town, owner was very friendly and provided exceptional service!
It's a very old hotel needing TLC! The bar person was a pleasant guy who ushered us to a booking clerk (?) at the other end of bar who btw showed no interest in us waiting to be checked in. The bar person looked awkward and unsure whether to help us or not.
The room was a standard 2 single bed room that we had no intention of staying in other than to sleep. I'd say its a pretty shabby cupboard type room with 1 cup for 1 guest, no cutlery and no selection of condiments i.e. no coffee sachets, 2 tea-bag sachets and a lot of sugar. A crack in the only window by the bed. Not good! Cheapest accommodation in a handy location for the night but boy oh boy, its not a pretty, welcoming place. No meals, only snacks upon request. Its been a few years since we stayed there and well, compared to many hotels in the area where we have stayed, this one is no longer any good! (No elevator - god help anyone staying on the 2nd or 3rd floor with heavy luggage. Apparently, the hotel has recently had renovations? Hmm! NO parking available on site! I will not recommend this hotel.
Older place right in the middle of Auckland, but honestly, one of the most comfortable beds I’ve slept in (and I do an heck of a lot of travelling) plus the shower was outstanding - hot and high pressure.
Sure it’s noisy, given it sits on 2 main roads and there’s a bar/gaming area right below, but actually it was very tolerable.
The service from the front desk (front bar?) was great, friendly guy and happy to help.
It’s an older place so if you overlook the tired walls and lack of convenient wall plugs, it’s great. Would happily stay again.
Super sun stay!
Hard to understand the codes when coming in late. Just clearer or bigger codes on the keys 😉
I know it's cheap, but don't stay here. It's sooo dirty (there was mold behind our bed) and the shower wasn't even cleaned. We checked-in and checked-out within 30 minutes because we couldn't take it. We asked for a refund for our ONE night and they declined us.
Missed having windows. Good value and location. Excellent staff
Fantastic location. The room we were in had gaps in the shower screen causing the floor to be sarurated.
The staff were friendly but it was not clear on arriving that you had to check in at the bar in the pub below. After check in I was shown where to go to the bottom of the stairs and a woman followed me up the stairs and asked me for money. The room was clean but really tatty. Can’t fault the location.
Very good location and good value for money.
A very cheap plastic strip would have stopped the shower flooding the floor.
Not a single hook in the place,
Great location. Hotel reception is only open specific hours. We were able to store our luggage there. There is no elevator. Luckily there was someone who carried our luggage upstairs.
I’ve never been scared to the many hotels I hopped into so far. Yet the moment I entered my standard room here, I felt scared. Maybe because there’s no wall and the room looked very old, the wardrobe, tables and the paint on the wall’s needs to be repainted. Not sure if this is the remnant of the covid outbreak though. it took a long time for me
to adjust to the place’s feel of safety. The water heating works fine and so with the fridge.
I asked the staff if I could changed into a room with a window but he told me the one I’m in will be a quiet room suitable for me to have uninterrupted sleep as I am just staying for the night. I heeded his advise and took the room in. Eventually after 5-6 hours I felt safe and therefore was able to shower, rest & sleep. Overall, average. But I think, if it will be repainted/renovated for windows, it will be excellent!
Though the overall property and condition of the hotel could be improved, the staff were very friendly and ready to assist at all times.
Very hospitable Host
the staff was great
Very central to everything in Aucland CBD
Handy location, very friendly staff, great to have a game of pool at the end of the night as well.
Property wasn’t in best state but staff were friendly & helpful.
central to everything
Dirty and stinky. We had to air out the room for hours. It looked like it had not been rented for a while and the surfaces were dusty. The sheets seemed clean but the bathroom floor was dirty as well as the toilet and there was soap all over the shower area. The facilities are old and falling apart. The doors and walls are thin and we couldn’t sleep because we heard the other guests arguing, coming and going in the middle of the night, and other things… for the price a disappointment. Checkout time is 10 which is fairly early, especially if you don’t get a good night’s sleep. The hotel is basically a sports bar. Don’t stay here! For the price, you can find something better.
