Excellent Service & Excellent Hotel - Top Class
Pros:

Excellent front desk service on arrival and departure. The rooms are so luxurious, clean, tidy and very comfortable. Excellent restaurant service, succulent food and a very relaxing atmosphere throughout. Totally enjoyed my stay and only wish i could have had extra days in this hotel.

Pros:

Had breakfast in our room as it is fitted with a kitchenette. Hotel a few minutes walk to gorgeous Hagley park and a few minutes drive to city centre. Staff all went out of their way to ensure our comfort. Food in restaurant delicious and our room was meticulously cleaned.

Cons:

Bed side tables. Totally impractical. Suggest replacing with a table with a draw.
Otherwise, everything great and worked well

Overvalued and not worth the high rates.
Pros:

Large room.

Cons:

Not 5 star, dont know how it got that rating, maybe the room rate. Pillows were like a folded sheet, nothing to them, sheets had rips in them at the foot, building is dilapidated, food was sub standard, coffee was rubbish. Very disappointed for the price, if it was priced at 3-4star rates it would of been ok.

A must stay if you are in Christchurch.
Pros:

Absolutely loved our night at the Hotel Montreal. The staff treated us like royalty, food was outstanding and the hotel room was immaculateand so spacious with top of the range tea and coffee. The location is in very easy walking distance to the centre of Christchurch. A very relaxing night away with the feeling that you could be anywhere in the world.

GREAT stay in Christchurch at the Hotel Montreal.

From the time I checked in with Megan (and the chocolates/note from Katrina) to the time I checked out with Jean, I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Hotel Montreal. I loved my junior suite with balcony, two chairs, and a table. The bathroom was spacious, great shower and two sinks! The Shampoo, Conditioner, Body Wash, and Moisturizer--the most AMAZING Scent (Cinnamon and Cedarwood)---but you cannot purchase it. I looked online and asked at the hotel--cannot purchase. FYI...opportunity to generate a little extra revenue because I would DEFINITELY have purchased the Body Wash and Lotion at least!
Huge THANK YOU to Sherwin. I had a bit of an issue with dinner one evening and voiced it to Sherwin. He immediately and sincerely offered to comp a meal or a dish. I turned it down, but was really happy with his attempt. The next day, he again offered, but this time it was a cheese plate--which I could not resist. BELIEVE ME that cheese plate was DELICIOUS! Please tell me what the Blue Cheese was because THAT was one of the absolute best blues I had ever had!
The cheese plate and the delicious Limoncello Spritz more than made up for the issue I had. Thank you again, Sherwin.
I will go back to Christchurch Dec 2026 and definitely plan on staying at Hotel Montreal!
By the way, the restaurant food was extremely good!

Summer will be epic here!
Pros:

Sensational Sunday afternoon vibes. DJ was playing some epic tunes on a hot, sunny afternoon. Aperol Spritz's were on point, pizzas were awesome, as were the warmed olives. Great courtyard to relax in. Service was friendly and efficient. If the DJ keeps spinning his tracks, we'll definitely be back!

Comfortable home away from home in Christchurch
Pros:

Very cosy suite, much more roomy than I expected, and with a rooftop balcony to sit and watch the sun rise with a cup of tea. Helpful staff. Super comfy bed. Welcome card & chocolates. And handy location for the early morning train to scenic Picton.
