Friendly, clean, budget stay with slow wifi.
Pros:

The Garden Hotel is bit out of the way, roughly a 15 minute drive from the CBD, but is affordable with friendly staff. My stay was clean and quiet, few amenities but fine for a budget stay. Staff was quite responsive to messages and answered all my questions. Shower water pressure was severe. The Irish pub around the corner had superb Guinness on draft so that helped too.

Cons:

Washing and drying one load of laundry costs $12 NZD which seems excessive. Property front desk closes at 9pm so be aware. My biggest complaint was that the Wi-Fi was both slow (~20mbps) and dropped frequently. No wired ethernet option.

Spacious room, noisy location.
Pros:

The room was spacious and had a small garden area. The location was alright.

Cons:

The room was next to a group room and the walls are paper thin, you can hear people their conversations clearly. Thus I could hear different groups partying every night.

Great location for access to Christchurch with regular 20 min bus service.
Pros:

Easy to get into Christchurch from that location. Rooms were large and beds comfortable

Beds were so comfortable
Room was tidy and had all we needed for an overnight stay. Handy to airport and Manukau.
Yes I would stay again.

Cons:

The noises that seemed to be coming from the moving of containers or similar perhaps from the place next door, or the big dumpster bin being emptied.
But would still stay again.
