The staff and the food at the event afternoon was very good. The Decor was lovely.
We liked everything , only comment i can make is the Breakfast. The selection was very good. But, the English Breakfast, the bacon was overdone and the egg was hard and dry.

There was poor internet and mobile phone connection in the area generally, including at the hotel.
Limited vegetarian menu in the restaurant but otherwise the food was very well presented.

Young staff need better training.We were told on booking in that we could not eat in the restaurant as it was full.An hour later we got a table.?????????????

The ambience was lovely, furnishings, decoration, gardens, surroundings. location and peace and quiet. The dinner was fine dining and very enjoyable, also at a reasonable price.
I would have liked a king size bed.

The internal parts of the building could do with a revamp, some parts were looking a bit worn. Still pretty though.
Unfortunately it was very hot during our visit (nothing the hotel could do about the weather) and they did provide a fan in the rooms for this.
Bed was a little bit uncomfortable.
We booked the Chestnut Room for our wedding party on 3 August 2026. Unfortunately, our experience with the venue was extremely disappointing.
We were given a price for the room when making the booking, but were later told that the room had been charged incorrectly and that we were expected to pay more. This was very frustrating, especially when planning such an important occasion and relying on the price we had originally been given.
The service and communication we received were extremely poor. We expected much better professionalism and transparency when dealing with a wedding booking.
Overall, this has been a very stressful and disappointing experience, and we would not recommend the venue based on how our booking was handled.
As usual yhe stay was wonderful. All the staff professional, friendly and very helpful. A big thank you to Alice for organising the library for friday evening. You are a star.
