Very loud music, late into the night, from the surrounding clubs. Even earplugs could not cancel it. Not a quiet place where you can sleep.

The hotel was located in a good area.

Cons:

1. There was not always hot water available. The shower was attached to the bath so you could not have a proper shower.
2. The rooms were cleaned each day however sheets were not changed. I had to ask for extra towels. There was only 1 supplied per guest.
3. There was quite a strong smell of diesel in the hotel corridors at times. Possibly due to a generator. But when asked the staff did not know anything about it. It made both myself and my daughter sick.
4. The restaurant menu was very limited with poor choices.
5. We paid for breakfast during our stay and my daughter did not eat anything from it.
6. The room was very small and the lighting was very poor.

Would not return to this hotel
Pros:

Staff are lovely and helpful, but this is not a great or place to stay. Gym is generally well equipped. Just don’t understand how this can be marketed as a 5 star hotel when it only seems to be a 3 star.

Cons:

1. Smell of diesel, possibly from a generator, was very strong in corridors. One day it was so strong a member of our party fell ill with a headache, which I let reception staff know about. I guess there’s not much they can do about the smell, but I would say it was very noticeable and we felt it was an issue during our stay.
2. Hotel rooms are large but very, very dark, even with the curtains open in the A block. Couldn’t read a book in comfort with the lighting level, day or night. No extra lighting over the mirror in the bathroom.
3. From reading other reviews, the issues with the shower head is in the middle of the bath are well known to management but haven’t been fixed. The shower head can’t be extended to the wall, so even a child wouldn’t be able to have shower standing up. And really that should not be the case in a 5 star hotel. Bath sides are tall, so could be difficult for anyone with mobility issues.
4. Water was not always warm or hot. Sometimes it was not possible to take a shower- that’s not 5 stars.
5. Tv has 1 station that works.
6. Only 1 mid size towel was provided, had to ask for more. No hand towels provided.
7. Toilet roll seemed to be rationed, no spare roll was left in the bathroom.
8. Food (pasta) in the restaurant is good to ok, don’t have the pizzas as the base is not great and the vegetable pizza was quite bizarre.

Two Working Weeks in Addis
Pros:

Dependable choice with airport shuttle, full gym that has extended hours with a steam sauna and massage facilities. The breakfast is rather similar and tedious but attempts at variations were made. Coffee was excellent in the morning. Laundry service was same day. The body wash and lotions provided were a huge improvement on quality compared to the past.

The spa services were professional and my masseuse Mahalet was amazing. The cost is also very reasonable.

Across the road there is a Forex, small minimart for some essentials and many quality leather shops

Cons:

My room could be a little dark with adjacent high rise. No mosquito nets on the windows meant it was difficult to leave them open to air out the room. The shower holder was placed quite high for me to reach without a precarious climb. I didn’t use the swimming pool as I watched the colour change from blue to turbid green so not sure how reliably the water quality in the pool is.
