Noise up to midnight. Service attitude is not good. Poor breakfast. No more stay.
The room was hot as sin, had a fan and aircon never worked. Spring bed, old linen & Towels, water brown, took 10 min to heat up, no pressure.
Breakfast on first morning terrible. Second morning much better.
Asked for room with aircon and was moved. Much better than first impression
I won't be returning.
This looks like a brother. I had to book another hotel and left. It’s not clean and the photos do not reflect the actual condition of this hotel
This hotel is very run down. The rooms are shabby, the bathrooms are not very clean. Water comes out of the taps brown. The restaurant is halal so if you want a drink you have to go to the sports bar next door. The swimming g pool is empty with broken furniture around it. The whole experience was not pleasant I’m afraid.
Convenient to Indian river, Portsmouth. Thecrestaurant was ok, lots of menu choices, decent food, atmosphere a bit dated and austere. Rooms were large with wifi and cable. Ours had a kitchenette with instant coffee provided.
No option for heated hair appliances to be plugged in and the wall outlets were odd but you could charge phone, iPad etc.
There are several good beach bars nearby as well as gas stations.
Breakfast with 3 options is free if you book directly. It starts at 8:30 am.
this was fine for a short stay at a budget rate. the location is safe and quiet and the place is clean, but there were no Covid protections in place. The studios have no phone to reception, toiletries and water are not replaced, and staff not particularly attentive. Not a single staff wore a mask except on request.
Riverside Hotel Lilongwe provides clean and affordable accommodation. Its near City Centre. Rooms are large with large double beds. It has restaurant's on site and provides good food and value for money. Manager Vipin provided excellent customer service. Staff are good and always eager to help. Overall good food, good accommodation, affordable and clean.
Very poor service. No fixed prices, got ripped off 180$ for 1 hour in a very lame conference room. The manager wanted 300$ at first!! Outrageous ripp off. Don't get near this place. And if you must, check the pricelist before or you will have bet unpleasant surprise
If you like to stay cheap for long, then maybe you could consider this.....but this is not a hotel and it is not well looked after. The rooms need a lot of maintenance and not very practical. I will not recommend this for business travelers.
Not too bad accommodation but aircon was not working, shower curtain and mould smell from the bathroom. Seems to have been a very good place previously needs a little bit more attention, lacks that hotel feel.
The bed was horribly hard. kindly next day the manager fix the problem but overall the hotel is falling apart...
Safe parking close by Separate conference facilities close to hotel Excellent lunch served and light snacks provided with morning and afternoon tea/coffee Plenty of conference rooms available A good experience.
The room looked old as well as the bathroom, but I guess what you pay for. The biggest problem was the air conditioner. It was on the veranda. It was extremely noisy so we did not sleep at all. The cost of the room was not worth this noise.
We checked in late in the evening, rooms were very comfy, the wifi connection was strong so no more comments( you might get lost looking for your room, they have plenty of rooms ). The restaurant serves very good food. Safe sound and secure. Watch out they have huge security dogs, if you are lucky you will be able to see them with the guards on the walkways. Overall very much recommended.
We stayed here for three weeks and for €1300 I wish I could have it back. The chalets look nice and probably could be with some work. But they were infested with every crawling insect in Malawi!!!! Obviously never fumigated, a basic requirement for the sort of money they charge. The air conditioner worked but it sounded very similar to. 747 at takeoff!! We left it on as the heat otherwise was unbearable. I could not recommend this place, certainly not for the money charged.
We needed rest after traveling 700km by road, Riverside gave us the needed rest. Choose older rooms they are nearer to the restaurant and check in area.
We slept in new rooms they are too far from parking, restaurant etc. water from the showers come out little by little but on average it's an ok hotel.
Breakfast not bad
They know how to cook their local fish that was my best for that hotel. Great room service
We did not get to use wifi because 'the rains did something to the lines'
Stayed in the apartments in this hotel in December 2015. Every walking ant and insect in Lilongwe had unfettered access to the apartment we were in. I would have though for the exorbitant price this 'hotel' charges that they would have at least been fumigated. If this hotel was in the west it would not even rate one star. Rooms while kept clean are VERY basic and badly finished. But my biggest gripe was the fumigating of the apartment. The air conditioning units are only in the bedrooms and sound like the concord coming in to land. I wonder why it is that in a lot of bad hotels the air conditioners are so loud? We left ours on all nigh! But be prepared for noise. Beds are comfortable. Water in shower was nice and hot. Cleaning service very good. Never ate in the hotel as we thought if they didn't care about their guests enough to fumigate rooms the the food was going to be made in the same vein! Could not recommend this place. Way too expensive for what you get
When I arrived in Lilongwe, I was sceptical about the staying arrangements and food, when I had heard about poverty in Malawi.
In contrast to that the stay in Riverside was very pleasant. Staff was helpful and smiling. Management took personal interest in the arrangements. Meeting halls are good. Food served to us was Indian courtesy Mr. Kaushal, which was really good. I do not know the taste of Malawian food.
There is a scarcity of water and electricity in the whole of Lilongwe which may affect our stay in the hotel , which nobody can help.
In short, the stay was pleasant and the reception was warm.
I had a nice apartment at the Riverside Hotel, but always something was missing in the service delivery. One day it was small towels, the other a bigger one. Nice and friendly personnel honestly.
The restaurant offers a variety of Indian dishes, and a smaller amount of Chinese, however I was wondering where the difference was between an Indian and a Chinese Sizzling Chicken. They tasted delicious, but no two dishes were ever the same. One time with chicken filet, the other day with chicken nuggets. One time rice and no noodles, the other day noodles and no rice... except when I specially ordered for it. Chips are precious for one who was born in Belgium. Still wonder why they speak of French Fries and not Belgian Fries. Baked in oil in two stages. The first bake in 150°C oil, the second - after cooling down - in 180°C oil. Then they become crispy outside and moist inside. The way it always should be, and not the Thick, almost raw, greasy chips. To be honest, I only found nearly good fries at only one place (until now). If other restaurants can do, why Riverside can't? The tables should be impeccable dressed: plates, cutlery, glasses, napkins, salt&pepper, tooth pics. None of these should be asked for, this is basic for a restaurant where it is not cheap to eat. There's also no difference between the price for starters or main dishes. Sometimes everything is included in the price... mostly the bread and other staple food are put on the bill separably. The bill is always a surprise. The waiters - I wonder who gave them a training - are waiting for to be tipped, but I wonder for what.
This is a basic hotel, the rooms are ok. The staff are not very friendly and do no understand "do not disturb" signs. The breakfast is a basic buffet. The restaurant offers a selection of
Indian and Chinese food. I would look for other options rather than stay here again
