Great place to stay - definitely recommended!
Pros:

After a very long journey Carlos (hotel owner) gave us such a warm welcome - he was super friendly, helpful and enthusiastic, and made us feel at home straight away. The rooms were very comfortable, the staff is was very friendly and we had a delicious dinner on the roof terrace. Best stay we’ve had in our journey!

Cozy Stay!
Pros:

We stayed here for two nights and the hospitality was amazing. Don Carlos will go out of his way to make you feel at home and help your stay be awesome. He even picked us up/dropped us off at the airport. The rooms were a good size and the food was top notch! The pizza is A+! I highly recommend it.

Pros:

Yesterday I had a terrible experience at Hotel 314. I mistakenly selected a room with no AC (an easy oversight as the pictures on Expedia show an AC unit in the room). I accepted blame for missing that detail hidden in the fine print of the room option I booked. I asked to be upgraded to the room with AC which is $37/night on Expedia, only $10 more than the $27 I paid for the no AC room. The receptionist insisted that it costs an extra $30 to upgrade, which is over double the cost of the original room! I mentioned the lower advertised rate on Expedia for the same room, and she didn't care.
I refused and walked a few blocks in the heat through some sketchy areas to Hotel Italia, which I could immediately tell was a more clean and professional establishment. I was pleasantly surprised to find that a room with a double bed and AC was only $24/night, in stark contrast to the $62 that Hotel 314 wanted for a similar room!
The AC in Hotel 314 was old (not eco friendly) the TV was an old school tube television without HD or HDMI inputs, which is completely worthless for streaming on Roku. The staff will try to squeeze extra money out of you, given the opportunity. This is apparently directed from the top, because I had a lengthy and unproductive conversation with management in which they justified trying to make me pay substantially higher than advertised price & believed they were in the right & I was in the wrong for walking out & refusing to be taken advantage of. Buyer beware.

lost booking
Pros:

We arrived late evening, it was a tad scary, as the location is not good. The doors were closed, we had to ring the bell and then call to get somebody's attention. Just to find out that they had lost our reservation (made via hotels.com) or never received it. We had to find another hotel and still, my credit card was billed... really bad experience.

THEY DOUBLE BOOK: Don’t trust your “confirmed” booking.
Pros:

I usually try and write positive reviews, but this place screwed us over so royally that I have to publicly call them out.

I booked six rooms with them a few weeks ago and the money was taken out of my account and I received an email from Expedia positively confirming that the hotel rooms were all booked. The top of the email read this: “Your reservation is confirmed. No need to call to reconfirm.”

Because I have been to 75 nations and I know that sometimes the unexpected happens, I called the hotel on the afternoon of the day that we were checking in. I just wanted to make sure that they had everything set for our rooms and the right amount of beds and pillows were there.

Lo and behold, I was told by the person who worked at the hotel that all of the rooms were sold out that night and that they double booked our rooms!

No matter what we did and said, there was no getting our rooms back even though the money was out of our account.

They blamed it on Expedia not giving them our credit card details (it’s scary to think what they would’ve done with our credit card info if they had it). But they didn’t tell Expedia that it was canceled and when we called Expedia, they tried their best to contact the hotel… But the hotel was not answering.

The fiasco took a few hours and ultimately we had to drive an hour out of the way to stay in a random place because this shady Hotel owner or manager double booked our rooms. It was during the carnival and chances are they saw it as an opportunity to raise the room rates and get even more money for the rooms at our expense.

I have never stayed there, but if you are booking it online, I wouldn’t trust your booking unless you like last minute adventures or sleeping in your car. Thankfully Expedia has agreed to refund us the money after the hotel refused to accommodate and then rudely hung up on us! Stay away!

Awful hotel / Owner is a liar
Pros:

The owner scam me. He said me the price displayed on booking.com is an error and force me to pay about twice the price.
No window in rooms ? No hot water ? I'd never seen that before !!!
Stay away! Flee this hotel !

Most friendly hosts, strongly recommend this lovely place
Pros:

I was forced to stay in La Cieba due to an eye injury for three weeks and stayed in this hotel. It is in a very handy location close to beach and city centre. Hotel is full of character, extremely clean, has an amazing rooftop terrace but most importantly owners Don Carlos and Jennifer live there and they make sure you are well looked after. Don Carlos did everything for me from taking me to clinic, supermarket, ATM, buying my medication and later even to picnic with his family. We had many evening up in the terrace having a beer or two and Don Carlos cooked pizza or finger foods. I am so grateful to them. If you are looking for a very clean, affordable hotel that feels like home, this is the place.

Easter in Honduras 2017.
Pros:

Was my first experience traveling to Honduras. The hospitality at Hotel Casa De Espana was very homely. We were treated with utmost care and respect! The manager Mr. Carlos took us around town and showed us different areas to experience, we also visited the hot spring and enjoyed a mud bath. The hot spring is a MUST for first-time visitors. We visit Cayos Cochinos and enjoyed the beautiful islands. Breathtaking!!!

Terrible, got the shock of my life here
Pros:

We arrived at the hotel and to our horror, there were prostitutes right on the side of the entrance. one, a pregnant prositute and the other a male drag prostitute who approached me and my husband offering their services. On the other side of the entrance is a commonplace market, very noisy., crowded and dirty place. Needless to say,we went in, got out. I started crying and begged my husband to please take me away from there Found another hotel in another area in front of the beach and stayed there. We Lost the money we had paid in advance for the reservation but We won't stay in a place that looks more like a apy by the hour motel than a Hotel. I give it zero stars and recommend you stay away from it!

Are we staying in the same hotel?
Pros:

To compare my experience with the other reviews seems almost comical.

For some reason, I was given a key to my room - this caused me confusion once I had arrived at my room as the door didn't actually shut so I couldn't actually lock it. I brushed this over and went for the shower to cleanse myself after a long day of shuttling to find the bathroom light didn't work. Ah well, I'll have to cope. Turn the shower on to produce a cold dribble.

To top it all off, when I crashed on my bed at the end of the night I focussed in on three little treats of mouse poo on my bedside table.

Lovely social areas though. The dining room on the top floor is very well furnished. Only wish a little more upkeep on the rooms.

Hospitality in La Ceiba
Pros:

This was a very nice place to spend a few nights. The room was very comfortable and there was a lovely roof top terrace where we had breakfast and supper. There was a bit of a problem with the hot water system which meant that you had to let the owner know when you needed the water turning on but it did not inconvenience us at all. The owner and his wife went out of their way to make us welcome and could not have been more helpful. He cooked us a wonderful supper on a couple of evenings and was also very happy for us to supply our own wine. He stored our vehicle at his own house, not only during our stay but also whilst we were away on the Bay Islands for 4 days, for which there was no charge. He also took us to the ferry port and collected us. We had use of the kitchen and their fridge so we felt very much at home. A very good experience.

Very Hospitable!
Pros:

I stayed here overnight with a group of 15 people for the second time. This is a family owned business and the owners really cater to their guests. They are very hospitable! The hotel is within walking distance of the beach and the rooms are clean. The rooftop restaurant and lounging area is amazing with great views of the city!

Beautiful place, personal touch
Pros:

I stayed here for a week, and I must say that between the elegant decor and the personal touch that this small, couple-run hotel affords you, it's a delight. The roof terrace is a great spot (and, being 4 floors up, it's too high and breezy for mosquitos even though you're right on the coast). I got to know the owners and staff pretty well - admittedly, I don't think I would have got that far without fluent Spanish - and I felt really welcome, treated almost like family. You may have to be flexible about a couple of little things, but it felt like if you asked for something nicely, they were always happy to oblige. A million times better than a chain hotel with no character and no personal connection.

A good place to stay in La Ceiba
Pros:

A very convenient hotel in La Ceiba to spend a night or two. The rooms are simple but comfortable and extremely clean. The management is very nice and it was very nice to talk to them.
If you plan to have dinner there, just double check the price first as we were a bit surprised by the high cost of our meal. Otherwise we had a pleasant stay.

Yes, you should stay here!
Pros:

We were staying for a night in La Ceiba before heading out on our Mosquita adventure. After reading reviews, this hotel seemed like the best option. When we arrived, we were met by the owner's wife, Jennifer, who helped us with EVERYTHING! Between our limited Spanish and her English--we were given recommendations for an incredible lunch and where to go in town. She also helped us get in touch with our guides, which was really nice! The rooms were very comfortable and we felt safe at all times. The Wifi works best in the lower level, but maybe that's just because there was a torrential downpour going on. We had dinner at the hotel restaurant (which is open air on top of the hotel) and met other travelers there to visit with. Jennifer was a pleasure to visit with. Next year when I go back, I will definitely stay here!

Good news from Honduras!
Pros:

My husband and I enjoyed a warm welcome in La Ceiba, Honduras at Hotel Casa de Espana. This was our first visit to Honduras and the owners Carlos and Jennifer patiently answered all of our many questions. Our hosts were available for transfers and transportation. They arranged for a wonderful day trip by van and boat to the beautiful islands Cayos Cochinos where we snorkeled. They had many other ideas for day trips as well, depending on the weather and what we were interested in. We spent a lot of time on the rooftop terrace with beautiful views of the sea and the mountains by day, and the stars and lights of the city by night. There is a restaurant on the terrace where we had delicious, fresh cooked dinners. We lingered over our breakfast and coffee in the morning, not wanting to leave the terrace! The rooms were clean and had everything we needed including refrigerator, television, hairdryer. Our room was quiet and private; we enjoyed good sleep and a safe feeling of being in a home away from home.
