Für eine Nacht geht es
Pros:

Die Lage mit Nähe zum Bahnhof (meine Anreise war per Zug) und in entspannter Laufnähe zu der geschäftigen Einkaufsstraße war gut. Außerdem direkt hinterm Hotel Zugang zum Strand. An der Rezeption war eine sehr nette Angestellte bei meiner Ankunft.

Cons:

„Das Hotel ist in die Jahre gekommen“ trifft nicht mehr ganz zu, es ist - insbesondere von außen - wirklich heruntergekommen. Ich bin erstmal dran vorbei gelaufen weil ich es nicht erkannt habe, die Bilder auf booking müssen viele Jahre alt sein. Auch die Flure/der Aufzug sind heruntergekommen und wirken sehr schmuddelig.
Was das Ganze etwas gerettet hat war, dass im Zimmer selbst das Bett und das Bad wirklich in Ordnung und sauber waren. Der Teppichboden im Zimmer allerdings wiederum alt, fleckig und wirkt unsauber, den wollte man nicht ohne Schuhe betreten (und ich bin da eher weniger pingelig). Einige Zimmer nach hinten zum Meer scheinen neuer renoviert zu sein und somit ganz schön und die Aussicht muss toll sein, ich hatte ein Zimmer zur Straße mit Ausblick auf ein Vordach auf dem sich Zigarettenstummel und der ein oder andere Müll vorgefunden haben. Auch die Nachbargebäude sind total heruntergekommen wodurch das ganze einen nicht sehr einladenden Eindruck macht (vor allem wenn man wie ich allein unterwegs ist). Ich war nur eine Nacht dort, da Bett und Bad in Ordnung waren ging das aber den Preis den ich zahlen musste definitiv nicht wert, eigentlich schon recht frech.

As a family if we visit Newquay we will definitely stay at the great western hotel!!
Pros:

Breakfast was served hot and with a smile. The room view was amazing with easy access to outside. The newly refurbished room was lovely.

Cons:

The bathroom door did not lock in both rooms. The housekeeping did not refresh bathroom toiletries.

Comfortable central hotel overlooking the beaches of Newquay
Pros:

Great sea view from our “comfy” double room. Beautifully styled with throws and cushions. Small bathroom with walk in shower. Staff friendly and helpful. Interesting pictures on many walls which reference history of the hotel. Close to town centre. Some noise from a very busy bar below.

Cons:

No dislikes as All good value during august in Newquay.

Great couple of days in Newquay, perfect central location!
Pros:

Great location - centre of town, close proximity to all the amazing beaches that Newquay has to offer.
Room - clean, tidy, slept really well.

Cons:

The area of the hotel was a little tired, but we were informed that a renovation is due soon, which will be great. We look forward to seeing it on next stay!

Cons:

The shower had zero pressure and barely any water—it was more of a dribble. It was even worse around breakfast time, when the water would stop coming out altogether.

Also, the plug sockets in my room were in awkward places, which made them difficult to use for charging devices.

Great beach vibes!
Pros:

Fabulous location, 5 mins from train station. Lovely receptionist and housekeeper. Breakfast was nice and they adapted the full English to our requests. I would stay again.

Hotel molto accogliente ma un po’ isolato a nostro parere
Pros:

Il Great Western è un importante hotel storico di Newquay, che affaccia direttamente sul mare e ha accesso diretto alla spiaggia sottostante. La camera che ci hanno dato era molto grande e spaziosa, quindi il soggiorno. è stato molto comodo. Il letto è grande e confortevole e sul tetto davanti al nostro terrazzo venivano spesso a trovarci i gabbiani che possono non piacere ma non ci hanno dato alcun fastidio.
Il ristorante dell’hotel ha un buon rapporto qualità-prezzo. inoltre siamo capitati nella serata quiz che è stata molto divertente. La colazione è molto ampia e ben fornita, è possibile scegliere anche alcuni piatti dal menu colazione.
La vista è spettacolare e si vedono tramonti stupendi!

Cons:

La struttura presenta delle camere ristrutturate ma noi abbiamo soggiornato in quelle classiche. Il bagno presentava alcune imperfezioni, la vasca da bagno si sollevava da un lato e il getto d’acqua non aveva sufficiente pressione per far uscire bene l’acqua.
I mobili della camera erano un po’ datati ma ci siamo trovati bene nel complesso.
Siamo stati solo due notti e quindi forse non ci siamo orientati bene nella città ma la posizione non ci è sembrata comodissima: sicuramente ha giocato a nostro favore la vicinanza alla stazione dei treni, ma non siamo andati spesso in centro perché comunque ci volevano 20 minuti a piedi. Anche la zona subito intorno all’hotel non è bellissima. Tuttavia è un buon posto per le spiagge e per il trekking!
