Hotel Stadt Wien

Couldn’t fault anything about this hotel, staff are so friendly, the hotel is really clean, rooms are a great size for a family, location is spot on with a short walk downhill into the town, a longer walk uphill to two of the cable cars and a bus stop really close to the hotel.

We stayed at Hotel Stadt Wien for a week from 24 June to 1 July. We enjoyed every minute of our stay. All of the hotel staff were very helpful and friendly, and the food was fantastic. We made good use of the summer card which such a bonus. We had a lovely surprise on our 40th wedding anniversary to find our table decorated with flowers and a card and they gave us free drinks that evening. Thank you Christine, Klaus and all the wonderful staff, hopefully we shall return one day!

Fantastic family hotel in Zell am See

Wonderful and very efficiently run family run hotel in a great location. Staff were all very pleasant, helpful and friendly.
A special mention goes to Basi the bartender, he was very sociable and great fun! a real asset to the business. Food was excellent and plentiful we really enjoyed our stay. Would definitely recommend to anyone visiting Zel am see!

Recently returned from the exceptional Stadt Wien hotel, staying there with my wife and son 11th July to 18th July booking through Tui.

The Stadt Wien is a beautifully maintained hotel which is spotlessly clean and kept to the highest possible standards through out.

What makes this hotel even more special are the owners and every single member of staff which they employ. They are all lovely people, that really put an exceptional amount of effort into making your stay a truly fantastic experience.

My wife an son both require a gluten free diet and every effort was made by the staff to ensure this was provided. There was also excellent communication
regarding the gluten free options.

If required the guests can make a packed lunch up from the breakfast buffet. The staff at the hotel also provided gluten free rolls for my wife and son for this option too.
All food in the restaurant was of a very high standard.

The summer cards provided by the hotel were extremely useful, which meant we could have free bus and train travel in the region and discounts on entrance fees to museums and other attractions.

We had a great holiday staying at the Stadt Wien hotel and a busy week exploring the different regions of this beautiful country.

I would like to express my sincere thanks to the owners and to every single person who works at the hotel, for helping to make our holiday a truly fantastic and memorable one.

This is a lovely family run hotel. The rooms are very clean and comfortable and all of the staff went out of their way to make sure that we had everything we wanted while we were there. The food was excellent with plenty of choice and availability. It was so helpful to be able to make a small packed lunch each day from the breakfast buffet. The afternoon teatime cake was also a lovely touch.
The hotel is very convenient for exploring Zell am See and the summer and mobility cards provided gave us excellent free access to all transport and attractions in the area. So worth having. The staff were very knowledgeable and helpful with local advice. We felt very welcomed and valued and we would thoroughly recommend this hotel

I have just got home after staying here from 1st to 8th July. I would highly recommend this hotel. The staff and owners are very friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable.
There is a wide variety of food, even for me, who needed gluten-free meals because I have coeliac disease. The bread rolls and muffins come individually wrapped, and taste amazing.
Lunch is also provided, or you can make up your own packed lunch.
The summer card which is only available at some of the hotels is invaluable. You don't have to think twice about going on the boats, trains, buses or cable cars.
The hotel is situated a little way up the hill, 5 to 10 min walk to the lake, and away from the noisy train line.

Just returned from a week's stay at this wonderful hotel . The whole hotel has been thought out thoroughly and everyone is so friendly from the owners Klaus and Christine to their wonderful staff who always greeted you with a smile and so helpful. The rooms are lovely, we had a small double room without a veranda but the room was large and had a sofa bed aswell and very clean throughout . It was quite hot and I asked for a fan and the lovely receptionist ( can't remember her name but she had dark hair ) came straight up with a fan ) nothing was to much trouble and very helpful with everything question asked which was many lol.
We were half board and the breakfast and evening meals are tasty and plentiful you are even encouraged at breakfast time to make up a packed lunch . Peter always greeted us with a smile and enquired how we were . The extra bonus of having an outdoor swimming pool and sauna included was great .
We made great use of the Summer card which let you travel on buses, train , cable cars , boat trips on the lake and museum's.
If your looking for a family run hotel were they really care for the people who stay here then look no further this is the hotel to come to.
The only little thing but it's only small is that it would be nice to have tea / coffee facilities in the room .
Sell am See is a beautiful town and will be returning one day

We have just returned from a fantastic week at this wonderful hotel.
All the staff we encountered were extremely helpful and cheerful, the ladies on the front desk answered my questions with great knowledge and excellent English.
The food was of a very high standard with some nights having a theme, eg local farmers evening and a BBQ ( well done to the chef for cooking outside under cover in heavy rain!). The making of a packed lunch at breakfast time was actively encouraged with paper bags provided. Free cake was served each afternoon which was gratefully received after walking in the hills.
The facilities around the pool, the spa and in the rooms were great. All areas were kept clean and tidy with towels provided to use in the pool/spa. As the weather was very hot the cool pool was very welcoming as was the sunbathing area around the pool.
As others have said, the summer card and the mobility card enabled us to use cable cars, local buses, boats and trains. There are helpful timetables in reception to help you to plan your days. We travelled on local buses, used all the cable cars in the area along with two boat rides and a day trip to Salzburg!
Zell am See itself is just a short walk down hill from the hotel. We explored a little and saw the light show with music on two evenings. We also experienced a musical event put on by local children and their music teachers. Good to see/hear children getting the chance to perform.
We went with TUi and can recommend their trip to the Grossglockner High Alpine road. Excellent scenery and guide.
I hope we may return to Stadt Wien some day soon and would certainly recommend it to friends and family.

We had a wonderful - if hot- two weeks at the Stadt Wien. Claus, Christina and all the staff greeted us on arrival ( we have visited many times ) as welcome guests. The room (604) has been upgraded to a high standard ( hard to believe as it was very comfortable before the upgrade). The food was superb and my vegiitarian husband was well looked after.

Yvonne on reception is very knowlegable and gives good advice in excellent english. The dining room staff are discrete and attentive. All guests are supplied with the Kaprun card and Saltzberg mobility card which give free entry to many attractions and free public transport travel through out the region.

For children there are animal to pet and some outdoor play equipment.

This hotel is to be commended for its all round comfort and excellent staff.

We booked this hotel due to the amazing reviews on trip advisor.

We had a child with us and the hotel was very friendly for kids while maintaining an ability for adults to have a holiday without knowing kids are around.

The room was a great size, clean to a high standard, had all of the amenities you’d need to be self contained or just use it as a base.

The facilities were out of this world. The pool was incredible with beautiful views.
The farm animals were a welcome distraction for our child.
The food was always different but always with enough of a selection to suit any taste.
The fact there was free bike hire, buggy use, backpacks, playroom, spa, meeting areas and outdoor terraces made this hotel utterly stand out.

Finally, the owners and employees. I have never experienced a group of people with so much knowledge of the local areas, compassion when things don’t go to plan (our child was sick for a few days) and generally understand each group of people staying have different needs. The team were cross trained to carry out multiple tasks, so there was never a case of that’s not my job, only of course let’s get that sorted.

If you’re reading this and still thinking should I stay here. There are 1000 more positive things I could say!

Our overall experience at Hotel Stadt Wien was amazing. The hospitality received from all of the staff was outstanding and to such a high level we have rarely seen before, well done.
The choice of food was extensive and to a high standard and the hotel offers so many complimentary services such as afternoon cake and the use of bicycles etc. which is a nice touch.
The ‘Summer Card’ provided as part of the holiday deal was amazing, meaning that we made great use of this card for public transport as well as the many cable cars and some activities in the area at no cost.
The location of the hotel, although on the outskirts of Zell Am See, was perfect for us as it was away from the hustle and bustle of the town.
The hotel caters well for couples, as well as young families as there is so much to do in the area.
We hope to return to this area again and if we do we will definitely stay at Hotel Stadt Wien.

Our first time to Austria ,so pleased we choose this hotel,it is excellent, food brilliant,staff amazing,nothing too much trouble,rooms lovely,a special mention to all the girls on reception-each one gives you a warm welcome and has so much information about buses,train and trips put,all the waiting staff in the dining room are so friendly and the service is second to non.The summer card you receive saves you money with free trains,buses ,boat ride,cable cars all free.We loved it so much that on the second day of our stay we booked again for next year, most people we spoke to had been before so that speaks for itself that everyone wants to return.We are missing you all already and can't wait to return again next year to celebrate our Golden Wedding Anniversary with you all,thankyou to everyone for a brilliant holiday.

Location was just a 10 minute walk down to the lake and old town, the family run hotel was excellent, nice little touches like names on tables, the staff were very helpful, and we made use of the free tickets to the, cable car and boat trip,you can use bikes for free too, they even wished my wife a happy birthday the day after we left, so they remembered, we felt that they really wanted to make you feel welcome from the start highly recommend staying here if you are in zell am see

From the moment we checked in, with a warm greeting we received until the day we departed our experience at Hotel Stadt Wien was exceptional. The staff throughout could not do enough for you, they were attentive, polite, warm and friendly. The food was excellent and although the booking was half board it really is full board as light lunch provided, alternatively you can make your own packed lunch for the day. Homemade cake served in the afternoon also. Our room was very comfortable and immaculate. The facilities of the spa, free bike hire and even the petting zoo were great for all the family to enjoy. The added bonus of the Summer card made our whole holiday one of the best we’ve experienced and we plan to return next year. Thank you to all the staff at the hotel for helping us to have an amazing holiday. X

What a lovely hotel ! We loved every minute, Staff were wonderful could not do enough to make your stay memorable. Room we had was 301 and comes with a large balcony. Food was great and a good variety , changed every evening. Loved the cake in the afternoon. Loved that the owners were hands on in the running of a well "oiled ship" Well done to you all XX

Extremely attentive and friendly staff. Excellent hotel, very clean.
The hotel is positioned close to town centre only 400m walk.
Very comfortable, spacious rooms, with spa facilities and swimming pool.
Buffet and meals were very good.
Also available, you could take rolls, meats, cheeses and salads for lunch every day and not forgetting the cakes in the afternoon.
Overall, a lovely weeks holiday.
