Cons:

We stayed here for the first time two years ago and fell in love with MaandUp. Sadly on return we found little had been updated since. It was a special stay over Christmas so it was really unfortunate to find a cockroach in the room on arrival rather than a Christmas decoration! Whilst the room was very surface clean along with the bedlinen and towels, it would be nice to have seen bedding updated from the stained and worn state it was in and bedside lights that no longer worked,fixed. The mattress was lovely and comfortable but the headboard did not allow for comfort sitting up in bed. The pool, which we took great pleasure in swimming in on our first visit needed a good clean along with the outside walls. I really hope there are some updates on the horizon and truly appreciate how costly the upkeep of a property is but to continue advertising it as a boutique hotel, we felt some updates would not go amiss. Sorry to be nit picky but just highlighting points from a returning guest who has standards when paying above the average price for what we once rated as exceptional.
