Drug den area
Cons:

Unfortunately the location of the hotel has deteriorated significantly and is now literally surrounded by rampant drug use and homeless people. This has made it quite dangerous to move around at any time of day and quite unfortunate as the hotel itself is a little oasis but I would not recommend staying here unless serious changes and policing of the area has been made. This reflects in the hotel which have limited people working considering the lowering occupancy and there is nothing beside breakfast offered and all other services such as bar and restaurant services provided only with advance notice which was not stipulated how many days or hours one could reserve these services ahead and no bar service either.

Hotel con buenas instalaciones, piscina agradable, personal amable y un excelente desayuno. Habitaciones amplias y cómodas.
Hacen limpieza diaria.

Cons:

La ubicación del hotel no permite la libre movilización en horas nocturnas.
Las habitaciones estándar dan a la calle y se escucha bastante ruido. De igual manera no hay luz natural en las habitaciones.

La habitación 105, en la que inicialmente me hospedaron no tiene condiciones de privacidad, los vidrios de la puerta permiten ver desde el pasillo al interior de la habitación.

The hotel is located in a sketchy area, is not recommended arrive after 6 pm walking, which is a shame as is so close to all the shops and restaurants.

Pros:

La chambre était propre et la dame a l'accueil a été super gentille et a répondu a toutes mes attentes . Elle s'est occupé du taxi pour l'aéroport :)

Le déjeuner était excellent et très copieux .

L'Hôtel est 5 minutes à pied de la plage et des centaines de restaurants autour.

Je le recommande fortement :)

Beautiful oasis of a hotel, in not so great a street.
Pros:

Casa Carolina is like an oasis once you step off the street.
The pools are a welcome relief from the heat.
Our room was spacious & comfortable.
The food from the restaurant was very good & breakfast had plenty of options.
The staff were professional & welcoming. In particular a shout out to the head chef, who was lovely.

Cons:

The street Casa Carolina is on is not nice. It amazed us that such a lovely hotel could be on such an awful street. We were advised not to walk after dark & even on the Sunday evening, coming back from a very early dinner (5-6pm) a few streets away, still in daylight hours, we felt uneasy. The Main Street was almost deserted.
We also noted that people not staying there can access the pools & restaurant for day use. Which is fine, but when there are children who naturally just want to have fun in the pool, all day long, it can become a little crowded (in the pool), if you just want to relax & read a book.

El personal y el tamaño de las habitaciones

Cons:

La calle está llena de drogadictos. Hay una bulla infernal en la noche con 2 discotecas cercanas que no permiten dormir. A las 7 de la mañana misa con altoparlante. Un desastre. Una pena porque si no fuera así el hotel estaría perfecto. Deberían tener un diálogo a nivel municipal para proteger el turismo.

Friendly staff. Good restaurant, we had dinner there one night and that was really good even if it took a while.
Quick laundry service. Nice setting around the 2 courtyards. Pool is very small but good to have as it’s hot in Santa Marta. A/C works well.

Cons:

Rooms are very basic, with harsh lighting. Bathroom window was broken so we had some mosquitoes come in from there. On the top floors you get some noise from town (we were there though during the Fiesta del Mar so that will be less on average nights I guess). The street (calle 12 / carrera 4) is uninviting, especially at night, but it gets livelier and nicer just around the corner, from Plaza San Francisco onwards.
