Fantastic breakfast with plenty of healthy options. Great friendly staff and very clean both in the room and the hotel in geeneral.
Nothing
Location location location. Close to 2 bus stops ( for tours and transportation) convenience.
Best bfast value at the price range and star rating- with hot and cold choices. Yes, they have bacon everyday! Lol. Also walking distance to all DT attractions....from 5-30 min walk in all directions you will see lots of stuff from landmarks to bakeries, shopping, grocery stores, restaurants, etc. close to the church too, to the famous hotdog in Iceland. Staff very friendly and helpful. Another bonus is Mon-Fri they have the lunch special 2 for 1 entrees. That alone is worth it already considering how much food costs in Iceland. That saved me some $ for sure. I would stay again for sure.
We stayed for 7 nights my mom and I in this hotel. Although the room wasn't spacious, it was clean, the beds were comfortable, the meeting place of our different excursions was just around the corner in bus stop 13, the location was near downtown, near Laugavergur street with plenty of shops and restaurants. Their breakfast was also nice for there was many food to choose. The staff were kind and ready to help, special mention to Veronika in the reception who organized for us the south coast and glacier hike’s excursion. Much appreciated. Thank you Veronika! Take care
It was 10-15 minute walk to the center of Reykjavik which was great and also Bus stop 13 was right outside the hotel which is where you would get the buses from for the day tours.
I feel there could of been more wardrobe space we struggled unpack all our belongings.
We had a brilliant stay here from start to finish. Check‑in was friendly and efficient, and every member of staff we met was welcoming and helpful. The room was spotless, comfortable, and quiet, with everything we needed for a short city break. Breakfast was very good with plenty of choice, and the bar and lounge areas were great for relaxing in the evenings. The location is ideal—an easy walk into the centre and convenient for airport transfers and tours. Overall, a really enjoyable stay and we would happily return and recommend it to others.
The spa was quiet and nice to use but the gym was a very small room with 1 treadmill, rower and cycling machine. The bar is good and they make a great cocktail 🍸 during happy hr 2200isk. Our room was either very hot or very cold and was small in size. The TV has all the UK channels. There wasn't really any wardrobe space or draws to put clothing. There is room cleaning every day and to a good standard. The staff are pleasant and very professional and the location is ideal for all the bars on laugavegur.
The Midgardur hotel is a really lovely hotel in a great location right next to the street that leads to Reykjavík’s shops, bars and restaurants which are all within walking distance. It’s also next to bus stop 13 which is where pretty much all the tour companies and the Jet2 airport transfers pick up and drop off. We upgraded to a deluxe room and were so pleased that we did, as these rooms are on the top floor (5th floor) and we had a great view of the city, ocean and mountains. The hotel is spotless and the staff were all friendly and helpful. There’s a good choice for breakfast and the lunch / dinner menu also offers a good selection of dishes. The bonus for lunch at the hotel restaurant is that if you buy one meal you get a second meal free. We ate there twice and the food was excellent. Would definitely recommend this hotel for anyone looking for a central location.
Wonderful hotel with nice little spa. Very friendly. Had delicious truffles in room on arrival. Fridge stocked with couple cocktail options for purchase. Beds comfortable
The location for me was perfect, quieter end of the city with nearby shops and a few bars just a few minutes stroll away.
The atmosphere in the hotel was calming and relaxing, plenty of staff on hand on both reception and the bar, meaning you never had to wait long at either
Rooms i thought had everything you needed, we had a twin bed room, and that was a corner room, which had plenty of space and was always nice and warm on return from our days out. Only slight issues with the room, was the shower lacked any real power, and the second window only had a roller blind on it , and it didn't fit the window that well, so let in a lot of light at night from the lamppost nearby outside
The hotel always felt clean , with the room being cleaned daily as requested
Overall i would say this hotel is good value for money
Only thing i would add, the Sauna in the basement SPA wasn't working the whole 5 days we had there
Other than that, it was an excellent place to stay, The staff were great and room was great too
I had a great time! Everything was super clean, everyone was very friendly, and they really took care of us from the moment we arrived. Special thanks to Flory—she was incredibly helpful and kind and made our stay amazing from the beginning.
A very special thank you as well to Silvia 1 and Silvia 2, who were absolutely amazing. They went above and beyond to help me with a small issue with the power outlet and made sure everything was resolved quickly and with so much care and kindness.
Breakfast was great, and everyone in the restaurant was very welcoming and nice. The only suggestion I have is to please add strawberries and blueberries to the breakfast—that’s all I need 😊
The spa and sauna were very good. The gym was quite small and had no windows, which I wish were different.
Thanks to everyone! You were amazing :)
Great location, large rooms, lovely little spa and staff were friendly. We stayed 3 nights and couldn't fault anything. Great base for exploring
Really nice to stay here. The staff is very friendly. The rooms are very clean. There is a great spa. The restaurant & bar serve tasty food.
It is very convenient to go into town or start a tour exploring Iceland.
They made a special effort for my birthday. Thx!
We were even very lucky to witness a northern light from our room.
They made are Island holiday amazing.
Excellent choise for a hotel, in any aspect.
Nothing. I couldn't find anything that i didn't like
Good location not right in the centre but near enough to walk and far enough away from noisy bars and restaurants. Hotel is nice enough if a little corporate and sterile . But staff are nice friendly and helpful and all speak English. Rooms were nice and clean not massive but ok size wise although we did have standard plus room . Bed and pillows comfortable. Only issue for me was this worrying trend of glass bathroom doors . Not the whole bathroom ( thank God) just the door and it is positioned well so you don’t see someone in bathroom if you are in the room but you can hear everything. Personally I hate this , think it is such an erosion of privacy , I travelled with my husband so it wasn’t a huge deal but I regularly go away with friends sometimes my brother and I find this awkward . Gym is small but ok . Outdoor hot pool was nice. Sauna was out of order which was a disappointment.
Breakfast was average hotel breakfast, plenty of it but all a bit bland. Food in the restaurant was surprisingly nice ( Lunch ) expensive but so is all Reykjavík. Some minor Building/ construction work next to hotel but this didn’t impact our stay at all .
Overall very good !
We had an absolutely wonderful stay at Miðgarður by Center Hotels and truly could not have asked for a better home base in Reykjavík.
From the very beginning, communication with the reservations and front desk teams was seamless. Email responses before and during our trip were timely, clear, and thoughtful, which made planning for a 22 person group feel surprisingly easy. When we arrived, it was such a pleasure to finally meet Silvia in person after corresponding with her so much by email. Check in was smooth and efficient, and we were delighted to receive early check in at no additional cost since our rooms were ready and we had booked online. That small but meaningful gesture set the tone for the entire stay.
The front desk team truly stood out. Veronica was consistently warm, attentive, and proactive, always going above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable and supported. Flory, who we believe is a manager or supervisor, was equally wonderful and checked in to ensure our group had everything we needed throughout the stay. Every single person in our group received early check in, and everyone was genuinely happy with their rooms. The accommodations were comfortable, stylish, and well maintained, making it easy to relax after full days of exploring Iceland.
The spa was another highlight. Many of us took advantage of it, and it was a perfect place to unwind. Clean, calming, and thoughtfully designed, it felt like a real bonus rather than an afterthought.
We are a group of Black queer women who travel together, and it meant a great deal to feel so genuinely welcomed, safe, and valued as guests. That sense of care and respect was felt across every interaction, from the front desk to the restaurant to housekeeping.
Speaking of the restaurant, Jörgensen Kitchen & Bar was excellent. I was able to coordinate directly with the restaurant manager via email to arrange a welcome dinner on our first night with a prix fixe menu, and it was a fantastic experience. The feedback from the group was overwhelmingly positive. Beyond that first night, many guests returned for breakfast, lunch, or dinner on their own and continued to rave about the food. Breakfast being included was a great value, especially in a destination like Iceland where dining can be pricey.
Overall, this stay exceeded our expectations in every way. While we may not always return with a group of 22, we can absolutely see ourselves making this an annual trip with different travelers from our community. Thank you to the entire team at Miðgarður by Center Hotels for such a memorable, thoughtful, and welcoming experience. We will absolutely be back.
