We had previously requested synthetic bedding due to severe allergies. Upon checking in and beginning to unpack, we discovered that the pillows provided were filled with down, with feathers visibly protruding. Furthermore, the comforter had noticeable stains, including fresh yellow and brown marks. We also observed hairs on the sheets and a white powder on the desk area. When we requested new bedding, we received a new comforter and pillows, but the bed was not re-made, and one of the pillowcases was left on the sofa.
Regarding dining, we chose to eat at a neighboring establishment as the hotel offered limited options at rather high prices.
We left before breakfast was ready, but it would've been cool if they had coffee and grab-and-go bags with fruit or granola bars since they offer a free buffet breakfast that a lot of people probably leave too early to enjoy.
The hotel's proximity to Midway Airport is excellent, and the shuttle service operates with good frequency.
Great hotel! I usually stay at DoubleTree or HGI in the MDW area, but this hotel blew them away. Friendly staff, comfortable and quiet rooms, welcoming environment.
Very nice hotel close to Chicago Midway Airport. A lot of shops and restaurants on the main road (S Cicero Ave). We ended up renting a car because of the store/restaurant distances.
Very quiet and clean. Close to midway airport. We heard no planes or street noise. Beds and couches were very comfortable. Honestly, best night's sleep of our whole trip. While we ate before we arrived, the area is full of Chicago small chain restaurants like Giordano's and Malnotti's. Breakfast was adequate but beautifully presented.
Great customer service but restore the bacon Back to the breakfast menu.we had both sausage and bacon before .customer service was great with keysha and Liz"
Breakfast was not automatically included in the room rate and when offered at the desk it was $11 per person which was substantially more than the room would have been with breakfast included in the room rate. The hotel was unmoving on reaching a mutually acceptable accommodation. So we had McDonald's breakfast for two days. The luggage rack was broken and the refrigerator worked very poorly and there were no towels in the pool area, which was very small. And there was a ghetto argument in the hallway at 3 a.m. Other than that, it was good.
This hotel is the best! Parking is paid for with your room reservation (no need to pay for parking through a separate app); the staff is friendly and helpful; shuttle service is top notch with friendly, on time drivers. The shuttle driver always asks which hotel you are returning to, but be sure to get on the correct shuttle at Midway Airport. Hyatt, Double Tree and another hotel have their own shuttles. All other hotels at the Midway Hotel Complex use another shuttle service (all shuttles look similar - look for the Hyatt Place logo on the side of the bus).
Our room was clean, comfortable, and spacious. Temperature was easily controlled. Front desk staff was accommodating and friendly. Shuttle to Midway Airport arrived every 20 minutes and was timely and efficient. A good value and would return again!
We had a short, but pleasant stay. Our check-in went smoothly. The location is a big selling point, considering it’s less than a half mile from Midway airport. There’s many nearby restaurants. The rooms weren’t bad at all. Since we packed tropical, we couldn’t take advantage of their pool. When we fly out of Midway next, we’ll be staying here again.
Was fluing out of Midway Airport to Miami for Thanksgiving. Hotel was close toairport, room rates were competitive, monitored parking available, shuttle bus to/rrom airport 3X/hour; it ended up very well.
We stayed here for a night before flying for a vacation from Midway airport. We booked a stay with long term parking package, which allowed us to park the car there for 14 days. They have 24x7 shuttle to the airport. The room was neat and tidy. We haven’t used any other facilities. Would certainly recommend.
Having stayed at several Hyatt hotels during our cross-country road trip, we were looking forward to a relaxing five-night stay in a Premium King room at the Hyatt Place Chicago Midway, but unfortunately, this hotel was a significant disappointment compared to our previous experiences.
The first major issue concerned housekeeping. Upon checking in, we were not advised that housekeeping service was only offered every second day. We had booked through a third-party site (Expedia) which explicitly listed housekeeping as daily. While we understand policies change, it is the hotel’s responsibility to ensure information on all booking platforms is accurate or to clearly communicate discrepancies at check-in. This lack of transparency was frustrating.
Upon entering our Premium King room, the issues compounded. The room was poorly prepared: the bed was untucked, there were no cups in the bathroom, and essential amenities like body lotion or a shower cap were missing (it did provide in-shower dispensers for shampoo, conditioner, and body wash). Furthermore, the dual toilet paper holder held only one partly used roll.
Maintenance issues also affected our comfort. The shower doors did not stay properly closed, and the shower itself drained slowly. We also attempted to use the in-room instructions to cast content to the TV, but the steps did not work as described.
When we finally received the scheduled every-other-day housekeeping service, it was incomplete. The service failed to replace the used cups with clean ones, and no additional roll of toilet paper was provided, meaning we were still left without essential supplies.
Overall, the lack of attention to detail, poor room preparation, and fundamental service miscommunication left us less than impressed. For five nights in a premium room, we expected a higher standard of service and amenity supply.
Given the numerous alternative lodging options in the Midway airport area, we would strongly recommend choosing one of them instead.
The Hyatt Place Chicago/Midway hotel was like an oasis in the desert for us after a horrible experience in a different hotel earlier in the week. Angel greated us with a pleasant smile and told us they had upgraded us to a specialty room. That was a welcome benefit we weren't expecting and a great way to show Hyatt cares about their guests.
We had a minor issue with the plumbing and the toilet seat that was taken care of while we stepped out for dinner. When we got back to our room, everything was fixed and working fine.
The hotel is within walking distance to a variety of restaurants and less about a 10 minute shuttle ride (on the 20s starting at the top of the hour) to Midway.
We will definitely be staying here again when we are in the local area and need to catch an early morning flight or want to chill before an afternoon flight (check out was at noon).
Location only
Ok the check in was horrible, the bed was so uncomfortable
The breakfast was good and 3 times in the hour there was a shuttle to the airport (where the metro to downtown leaves)
The staff was pretty amazing - they were friendly, welcoming, and supportive! I definitely recommend staying here! I visited from out of state and stayed for three days to visit a friend.
