An excellent budget option. No frills, but very clean and had all I needed.
Pros:

Rooms were clean! I was a little hesitant walking up but inside was very clean wherever you looked. It’s an older building without any frills but it provided great value and was perfect for my needs. Being right on the water had a nice sea breeze and I had no problems with the lack of air conditioning (I also cannot sleep if my room is warm in anyway so trust me when I say the lack of A/C isn’t a real concern). Plenty of fresh towels provided. Cell service was good enough in the room for my carrier, Verizon. I cannot speak on other carriers. Only the lobby has WiFi.

Cons:

Nothing I didn’t like. I didn’t spend much time in the room itself as I was out exploring the island.

It was bad.
Pros:

The hotel has a good view of the bay and towering Banyan trees right in front. The staff were very polite and friendly.

Cons:

The hotel had emailed me once I had booked about no elevator and air conditioner. But I was in Hilo for the first time and did not expect it to be this hot. I did not get any sleep at night with a mildly rotating fan and mosquitoes all over. Also struggled to drag my baby's stroller up the stairs without any elevator.

Overall relaxing and quiet time well spent but the no WiFi is a downer for me

The room price was good, but the extra fees and taxes raised the rate a lot. Very friendly staff and great location. And
