If not not put off by a run down place and just need a bed for the night this is the cheapest place near the airport

Older hotel, no aircon, beach location.
Pros:

Its an older hotel with no aircon. Not pretty to look at from the outside. The room was clean and had the basics. You could see and hear the ocean from the balcony but probably not from every room. Had to sleep with the doors open and fans on to be cool. It was fine for the price. There is airport noise in the morning.

Great location, clean and comfortable.
Cons:

It was a wonderful stay right on the bay. We opened the balcony door and listened to the water lapping the shore. Also enjoyed eating on the covered balcony and use of the kitchenette.

I would certainly stay here again.

An excellent location and value on Hilo Bay!
Pros:

Reed’s Bay hotel is an older smaller property. No elevators but the oversized rooms and the value are terrific! Third floor balcony rooms are quiet and have a great view.

Cons:

Lack of elevators puts off some. Worth the exercise!

Building looks a little run down. One of the evening workers promised complimentary coffee for the room, but never got around to delivering.

worst place ever!

No AC, NO WIFI IN THE ROOM, NO ELEVATOR, NO KEY CARD, NOTHING! no breakfast, worst place that i have ever stayed! The hall in the hotel looks like a horrible movie !!!

Cons:

everything, literally needs to improve everything! and they will ask you to sign a document and write down your credit card which does not seem to be legal.

Pros:

The front desk lady (Shireen?)was super kind and helpful! She was very accommodating; she let us checked in 3 hrs earlier and we were able to switch our room to a partial open front view at the last minute. Even though the hotel is not very updated but we love what they offered inside out hotel. Everything we needed were in our room, organized and well thought of for their guests. Beds, pillows and comforters were extremely comfortable. We had everything we need in our room! Even though there was no air conditioner but we didn't feel hot because there was always a nice breeze with our windows open, a ceiling fan and 2 large standing fans. The housekeepers and the security guard were all kind and helpful too. Very close to the airport is a plus.

Cons:

Maybe the building needs to be updated especially the outside.

I was completely smitten with this hotel.
Pros:

This property took me back in time. The hotel was very Hawaiian 1960’s. I loved it. The room was adorable and the staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful. I also thought the location was beautiful. My balcony overlooked the bay and was lovely. The bed was more comfortable than beds I’ve had at large resorts. Yes. It’s older, and needs a little TLC, but everything I needed was there. It is a 5 minute, beautiful walk to Ken’s diner for a great breakfast. Don’t overlook this hotel because it isn’t a resort. Stay there and travel back in time, with the architecture of years past. Loved it.

Cons:

Spartanisch eingerichtete Zimmer. Möbel alt. Das Upgrade von einem Normalzimmer auf eine Deluxe Suit ist nicht erfolgt (Geld umsonst bezahlt), sollte eigentlich eine Erstattung geben.
