The hotel is comfortable, but their hospitality is as cold as the rest of Iceland. For the price they charge their facilities are inadequate and attitude unacceptable. The rooms are dark like most hotels in Iceland and they offer very few hot dishes for breakfast. No kettle or tea bags in room. They store bags reluctantly even if you are coming back to the hotel and staying there after your ring road tour and they grudgingly offer to replace an uncomfortable pillow. The reception makes you feel that they are almost doing you a favour by letting you stay there. Wouldn’t recommend.

We had a great experience at Skuggi Hotel and would highly recommend it to other people visiting Reykjavik.
Conveniently located 1 street away from the main tourist street of Laugavegur and a couple of blocks from the mini Bonus supermarket (for soft drinks and snacks) and 5 minutes walk from the hot food court on the corner of Hlemmur and Laugavegur, 40 mins walk to the Harbour (for Whale and Puffin watching tours) and 15 minutes walk from the iconic Hallgrímskirkja (Lutheran church). Although compact, the rooms are quiet and the windows fully dressed with blinds and curtains to block out the midnight sun - no need for eye masks here unless you want to leave your window opened all night. Breakfast offering was great. Limited but free underground car parking with 4 or 5 additional on ground parking spaces. On arrival you can choose how often you room is serviced. We requested additional pillows which was not a problem.
