While I didn’t get a chance to stay here I do appreciate their customer service as I was unable to make it to this hotel due to road closure and severe weather conditions. They were able to give me a refund which I am still waiting on but it was confirmed and made the request process easy !
Rustic hotel with quite old furniture. Badly soundproofed, you could hear your „neighbours“ next door and from above very clearly. If you have one of the rooms directly next to reception it can become quite loud at times. The appartments on the other side of the hotel, however, look quite nice and I think they are a better option if you intend to stay longer than only for a stopover.
Dinner on the other hand was excellent! And the staff was very friendly.
Rxcellent choice. All around
Yummy homemade bread on the breakfast spread. The hot tubs were just perfect to soak in and see the northern lights. So cozy and quiet away from the city lights. Loved the helpful staff and very easy to find location.
I didn’t like to much the place for breakfast
Old charm style if that’s what you’re looking for. Chose it for its convenient location. The floor was not clean but the rest of the room seemed fine. There isn’t someone maning the front desk so we waited a few times to talk to someone which was frustrating. Not overly friendly when there otherwise. Restaurant was quite expensive above expensive Iceland.
Wonderful place to stay in the South coast of Iceland.
Great service and we had an excellent dinner at the hotel too. The room was very clean and we had a nice living room area too.
Like the hot tub outside the hotel.
Very qu
Stayed in a deluxe family appartment - very clean and nice equipped. Lovely surroundings with view on mountains and Iceland horses. Nice hot tubs close to appartment. Breakfast tasted well and had typical Icelandic products. Friendly staff.
Great small hotel with awesome service. We stayed in one of the apartments as a family of 3 and it was almost perfect. The only thing missing was a shade for the door so that during the summer you could really darken the family room for whomever is on the pullout couch. The restaurant was also very good, with a variety of what I would consider unique dishes coming the US.
Lovely apartment like accommodations on grounds surrounded by horses and sheep. Convenient to Vik and tourist sites.
Wonderful breakfast on site as well as restaurant for dinner. All food was nicely prepared and served.
I would definitely recommend this hotel.
Everything was good. This hotel is a short ride off the ring road, they have signs, it is set against green farms and the dark mountain, and there seem to be hiking paths right behind it up the mountain. we were in one of the regular rooms, which had a nice bed, a new, modern bath with shower. There were bathrobes to wear to the hot tubs which felt wonderful after a day of sightseeing. We met friendly Icelandic horses in the field right behind the hotel. The breakfast was in a large, sunny room, lots of choices hot or cold. We were pleased with everything. The restaurant is a fine dining establishment, and the food was sophisticated and delicious.
The hotel is great, fabulous location. Staff is very helpful. The hotel restaurant is not kids friendly for dinner.
Quaint property in good location on south coast. Staff was so friendly and helpful and fun to talk to.
Amazing breakfast but paper thin walls...
You will sleep until everybody sleeps and will wake up with the first one waking up...not what I need from a hotel...
If you want good food but a bad night of sleep, you should definitely go there.
Not for us...
Please do not patronage this hotel. During a horrible storm where we literally could not drive due to the extremely high winds of well over 15m/s, and up to 24m/s+ gusts, we pulled over in the nearest "safe place" which happened to be this hotel's parking lot. With only one other vehicle in the whole lot of more than 20 spaces, they came out in the crazy storm, to try to get us to move immediately. When I told him it wasn't safe, and asked if we could stay, he was unmoved. I showed him the huge sign on our dashboard that said it was dangerous for us to drive in these conditions (over 15m/s), he reluctantly said we could stay until the wind died down a bit and then we had to leave, even if it was the middle of the night and still storming. If this establishment cares more about their nearly empty parking lot than the safety of people, then they should lose business
Will definitely stay there again
We stayed in two different types of accommodations - the apartments and the rooms inside the main hotel building. The apartments were new and great, with large bathrooms and adequate space and comfortable furnishings. The rooms inside the hotel did not meet expectations. Bathrooms and bedrooms were clean but very dated. Bathrooms were very small with no place to put any toiletries. Bedroom had very old furniture, the wardrobe in my children's room was falling off its hinges. Definitely did not live up to the "luxurious" accommodation status.
The location, however, cannot be beat. Nestled at the base of the mountains, the place was very picturesque and close to both Seljalanfoss and Skogafoss.
