Our family had a great pub lunch and the service was excellent. Very kind and welcoming staff, couldn’t fault it, we will be back!
Visited here for Halloween. It is a very authentic inn. Staff were friendly and the food was good! Portion sizes are very large - especially at breakfast! The only downside for us was that our bedroom did not feel warm despite some heating being on! This could have been due to the nature of the old building with thick walls. Also our bed was super-comfy!
We stayed overnight. Clean rooms with good facilities. Staff wonderful and helpful. Breakfast delicious. Bar good fun and very welcoming. Love the history of the place and the location by the castle and harbour (which has free parking).
We were warmly welcomed, but the breakfast was not great. We were served dry sausages, the avocado was not ripe, the mushrooms were bland (probably from a can, and the orange juice was bot freshly pressed, but was a soet of industrial orange juice from a box. Not impressed.
5/5
Rooms were old but very clean and well kept ( the building is almost 600 years old lol) staff was awesome, breakfast was great and room was comfortable a little small but we expected that!
Well run and has everything we needed a bit rustic but clean and well maintained.
great place
The hotel was old and rustic, and cozy. The breakfast was delicious! And service was friendly and great. Some nice pubs were very close to walk to with one being right across the street!!
Lovely old building, very helpful staff for 2 wet cyclists arriving late due to ferry being late.
The castle and harbour can be seen from the frontdoor
Quaint older property w a lot of charm. The staff was friendly and helpful and their food at their restaurant was excellent and plentiful.
We really liked the Carrick Fergus area as well.
Would stay there again for sure.
My husband and I had another great overnight stay. We had a small hiccup just after check in but this was very quickly rectified. The food was wonderful...highly recommend the chicken stack....and served by super friendly staff. Our room was clean, bed was super comfy and breakfast definitely set us up for the day. The lady serving breakfast was so lovely and chatty infact all staff we encountered were super friendly. Well done Team Dobbins!!
We had a lovely stay .
We had an unforgettable evening with a reunion dinner. The food was good and the service excellent. They were so accommodating to our family. It is a very charming establishment.
All good
Firstly the good bits (this won't take long).
The staff are pleasant and helpful and the food is good. That's the good bits, yup that's all.
The rooms are dreadful. We were given room 15 (family room). We should have looked before we paid. The room when we entered smelt musty (if only that was the only problem) My wife did her usual and checked the shower, no pressure no hot water. She called reception and was told to let the water run for about 10 minutes. After 10 minutes the water was lukewarm warm but still had no pressure (the shelf above the sink is upside down, when you bend down you hit either on the way down or on the way up. We complained again, the lady downstairs said we could use the room opposite in the morning and they would swap us to the other family room the next day. The beds were awful, so lumpy. The decor was from the 1970's. Room 15 is above the bar so all the noise came in as well. Not to worry we are swapping to room 20 in the morning. We got up and had a fabulous breakfast (the coffee was awful, but I take my own just in case). We packed our stuff and as arranged the staff moved it to room 20 while we were out enjoying our day. We came back and went to room 20..oh dear..!
Firstly the decor was the same tired 1970's look, shabby sh* te! The show was a bit better (but not much) it took you a while to get wet! The bathroom had a lot of mould and the toilet was about 4" higher as someone had put a block under it. The windows were very heavy to lift and when you let go they came down like a guillotine, I am surprised that no-one has been injured. There appeared to be nothing to hold the bathroom window open apart from a dented bin..ah I see why it's dented! I used the toilet brush holder instead. The bedroom window was worse but at least we found the log from the fire to prop it open!
The double bed in this room had a "Lovers" Mattress.. yup the one's that everyone rolls to the middle! It was very lumpy and old as well. The plug socket on the dressing room table was fitted so low we couldn't get our hairdryer plug in it.
The carpet was new so there is a positive!
Once again the food was good and the staff polite and helpful.
There is a premier inn down the road which is cheaper. We paid £135 per night and it was worth about £20 per night.
Not a good hotel for hot weather. Sleepless night as really small and stuffy. Window has no screen and at street level. Liked the history of the place and the cute pub.
The staff were fantastic and very helpful. The food was also very good. The rooms were like stepping back in time to the 1970’s. Awful beds. Luke warm drippy showers. Plug sockets that you couldn’t get a plug in. Windows that won’t stay open without propping them up with a log.
Mouldy tiles in the bathroom. Lumpy beds. Tiny towels. Really was the worst room I’ve ever stayed in! At £135 I expected much better.
In the middle of town with ample free parking, either right outside or a 5 mins walk away.
Absolute gem of a place! The place was quirky, clean and in a great location. The room was comfortable and spacious. The staff were really lovely, helpful and friendly. The breakfast was amazing on both days!
