Disappointed with Poor Hospitality at Midky Hotel, Nuwara Eliya

We had an extremely unpleasant experience with this hotel. Despite confirming our booking, they canceled it last minute and gave the rooms to other guests. To make matters worse, they blamed us for not answering their calls, even though we received no such calls from them.

This level of unprofessionalism and lack of accountability is unacceptable, especially for a hospitality business. We were left stranded without accommodation, and their dismissive attitude only added to our frustration. Would not recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a reliable and respectful stay.

Receptionist is a big lier, worst customer service, no politeness, You should never visit this place not recommended at all, we were planing to stay 4night and first day he gave us a family room as double room was not available on that day, but actually they had a double room on that day he lied us, finally we stayed there only one day and we visited a best place. This place not recommend at all

Staff are very kind and friendly. Hotel manager is a super person, take care about the guests. Location is good, wifi is perfect. The room is clean and the food is tasty.
The temperature is low at night so you need a blanket for sleeping.

Das Zimmer hatte keine Fenster und es gab beim Duschen kein warmes Wasser. Eine Reservedecke wäre gut, ich hab trotz Winterjacke im Bett gefroren. Da ich auf der Durchreise war, erwartete ich nicht viel. Sehr gut geschmeckt hat mir das reichhaltige Frühstück.

Really poor hospitality with lack of staff, poor food, room door lock was also getting stucked not at all enjoyed our stay, infact we ourselves loaded our luggage in car as staff was busy serving breakfast.

The deluxe rooms have a nice view on the mountain, are clean, and have all the amenities needed. The staff is very friendly. It is abt 20min walk from the city centre, or 5min by tuktuk. We enjoyed our stay there.

You don't have to go to a star class hotel to enjoy Sri Lankan hospitality. We were pleasantly surprised at the warm welcome of the Hotel manager who ensured that we were booked into adjoining rooms which shared a private lobby space. We felt as if we had the whole hotel to ourselves...

Even the "bellhop" who carried up the baggage to our rooms did so with a cheerful Sri Lankan smile and a happy disposition. Dinner and breakfast, overlooking the majestic hill sceneray of Nuwara Eliya, was also served by the same chap!

The rooms and bathrooms were clean and better than expected. Linen and toileteris were provided along with a coffee/tea station to brew your "wake-me-up"!

The food choice could be improved. I think the chef under salted the food keeping our health in mind. This could be easily remedied by providing a salt and pepper shaker to adjust the dishes to individual pallets!

We left the next morning well rested!

I had a nice stay in this hotel which is located in a very nice place. They offered very good service and the food they served was yummy. As it was solo trip, I stayed alone and I felt safe and comfortable. I recommend this hotel to all travelers.

The hotel location is good with views l. Had booked 2 Deluxe mountain view rooms however was not allocated those despite the fact that we were the only guests in the hotel. We were told those rooms were reserved but we didn't see anyone occupying those rooms. Very limited food and breakfast options.

It was an excellent stay. Very very accommodating people, service excellent n the food was marvelous. Very clean place n the hospitality was amazing. Thumbs up. The hotel is beautiful over looking the mountains. The rooms were so cozy n hotel water was available around the clock. Welcomed with a range of welcoming food.

it was and amazing stay i had perfect start my reservations experience was smooth.dinner and breakfast was so good.service was matching the standerds.rooms are comfortable and very clean.staffs are very help full .overall a 5star experience...

Rooms are spacious and well equipped ,my initial requirement was for a room with balcony which is confirmed over the phone but on arrival i was informed that they do not have rooms with balconies.the breakfast was awful,the chicken curry is with just bones only(I assume they made it for the staff)No desserts. The french fries (a very small potion) was priced at Rs 704.00 obviously overpriced,however the guy in the reception was very attentive and helpful.

Our stay at Midky hotel was very much satisfying. Rooms were very clean and well equipped. Food was so delicious. Staff members were great. Specifically the managerMr.Manjula is very much helpful and kind. From the moment you enter the hotel you will feel the warm hospitality of Sri Lanka. Thank you Midky hotel for the wonderful service. Highly recommended for your stay at Nuwaraeliya, Foreigners as well as Sri Lankans.

My tour guide and driver Lahiru (Gomez Place, Negombo) introduced me to this warm and welcoming hotel.
The staff are fantastic and very helpful and accommodating.
I was readily understood and English was no problem.
My room was very very comfortable with a great view.
The setting of the hotel is fantastic just out of Nuwara Eliya with great views.
I ate in the restaurant for all my meals and they were very helpful in meeting my desires for Sri Lankan experiences in food. The food was excellent.
It was bit wet while I was there so next time I hope to do the walk through the fields that they recommend when I return to the area.

We had a lovely large room with a view over the countryside leading into Nuwara Eliya. The room was clean and well equipped with hair dryer and TV. We were very happy with it, as it was clean and spacious and very good value for money in a town where accommodation can be pricey. Although it is not a fancy place it has a lovely atmosphere and we were very comfortable.The Midky is a very short tuk tuk or uber ride into town .The staff at this hotel are delightful and their warm friendly approach is one of the things that made this such an enjoyable stay. There is no bar, but when my husband requested a beer, they were happy to go into town and bring some back for him. The hotel has a lovely restaurant with a terrace where they served a very good breakfast and dinner. We ordered the rice and curry which was excellent and plentiful with an array of side dishes and sambols to go with the chicken curry. We did not try the western food so I cannot comment on that. I think they do a buffet when the hotel has more guests, but when we were there the hotel was sadly almost empty, as the Easter Sunday bombings have had a drastic effect on tourism. I do hope things pick up as this charming little hotel deserves to be buzzing with guests. I have rated it 5 stars as it offers excellent value for money and the staff are wonderful.

The manager of the hotel is such a sweetheart. He fulfilled all our requirements without any hesitation with a smiling place. Much go place as it has an awesome customer service.

We stayed in Midky for 2 nights and the rooms were spacious. We went in the aftermath of blasts in SL and the only guests in the hotel. The staff were nice and took good care of us. We are very thankful to the staff for their hospitality.

First of All, you are greeted by welcoming staff. The manager to the room boy, everyone treats you very well. We had an issue with electricity and hot water but manager made sure that we remain comfortable and did everything he could. food was delicious. Room was spacious and view were out AMAZING. Very good for a budget hotel. Highly recommended.

Nuwara Eliya was a must see distinct in Sri Lanka with many tea plantation and it was more lovely to stay in this hotel the view was superior the service was also great friendly staff clean hotel thank u so much midky management

We loved staying at the Midky hotel. They are a tiny hotel overlooking the lush green mountains of Newara Iliya.. nice, neat , clean, pretty room with an equally nice bathroom. Well done up big spacious rooms.
The only thing we were a bit dissapointed with was their breakfast. They had a very basic spread and no one was able to understand English, hence was extremely difficult to explain to them what we wanted.
Besides that, what we loved about the hotel was that they have adopted a street doggy and even have a small house built for her there. It is extremely heart warming to know that there is still good in this world.
