the location
the room is not clean. the hallway not clean. you can literally see old stains in the carpets.
The hotel is in a great location.in Ximen. Central location in a shopping district.
The hotel is clearly very old, from the smell, wear and tear of furnitures, squeaky bed mattress, very rough and old towels. The breakfast buffet is cheap but you also get what you pay for. Not so many great selections, bland dishes and dirty plates and utensils.

The room is clean and in a good location.
The process of the system is very rigid and the staff did not see much of the pro-active action to help me. There were 2 incidents which I experienced.
1. The process of buying a breakfast buffet.
When I was at the restaurant at level 1, I was surprised that I couldn't buy the buffet directly in the restaurant. The staff redirect me to go to the level 2 front desk and purchase a breakfast coupon. However, I walked back to the level 2 front desk, they requested me to pay by cash or card. As I did not bring the cash or card with me, I showed them my room card instead and I requested to pay later upon check out but they rejected it. Hence, I went back to the room with hunger.
2. The key card access arrangement was badly managed.
During my last night at 930pm, I called the front desk and inquired of the self help and paid laundry service. The front desk told me the laundry service was open 10am- 10pm daily. The friendly front desk manager proposed to me that he could extend my check out time from 11am till 12pm. So that I have more than an hour to do the laundry in the morning before I checked out (which is good and thoughtful).
As the timing of the washing machine and dryer are all preset by default. Washing machine will take 40 mins and the dryer another 40 mins.
I went to the laundry room at 10 am and started to use the washing machine, at around 1040am the machine started and I proceeded with the dryer which was expected to end at around 1120am. So I went back to my room and continued with my packing. I received a reminder phone call on check out timing, else I have to pay NTD 400 per hour for over- stay in the room. After some arguments with the front desk, they decided to waive off but they told me that I need to change my current access card as it expires at 11am. Hence, I went to the front desk to change my access card. Unfortunately, the new card is not working, I can't enter my room and it was at 1105am.

The hotel is ideally located right next to Ximen MRT station exit 4, just opposite the pedestrian area. The location is therefore excellent and extremely convenient.
Despite hosting a large number of guests, the hotel is well-maintained. My room was very spacious, and kept extremely clean every day.
The booking and payment process was highly deceptive and frustrating.
At the time of booking, it was explicitly stated that payment would be taken prior to arrival. Instead, nothing was charged, and I was forced to pay at check-in. This created a major issue for me, as I had used a company card for the reservation which I did not have with me physically.
To make matters worse, the check-in process is mostly automated, and the staff on-site were totally unhelpful. I had actually sensed an issue beforehand and contacted the hotel prior to my arrival to verify the payment, but they completely ignored my messages. Booking.com customer service was equally useless.
I truly disliked this ambiguous and misleading aspect of my stay. Great location, but incredibly poor communication and unreliable billing practices.
Very good location, easily accessible by train
Location was great although you would still need to cross a main street to get to ximending which can be troublesome when it’s raining
There was a smoking smell in our room. Despite having a toddler they did not change our room but only gave us a dehumidifier.
