Front counter was helpful and let us keep our baggage there for a few hours extra until our train arrived. Average breakfast, price was good with a mountain view and comfortable beds, noise wasn't too bad either. Overall pretty good.
Funcionarios excelentes
Guardaram nossa mala ate o fim do día.
Indicamos muito este hotel
Obrigado Mayra e Jim voces foram excelentes.
O Hotel é bem simples, mas o quarto bem confortável, limpo e espaçoso. O diferencial neste hotel é o atendimento.
Booked this hotel as it advertised a room with a river/mountain view. It didn't mention however that the railway line was right outside the hotel. It was impossible to sleep once workmen started working on the railway outside banging around from 1am onwards especially due to the balcony door that wouldn't close. No sound insulation from the balcony doors either. If you're a deep sleeper and not woken easily it would be fine and a reasonable location. If not, I'd look elsewhere...
1) For one occasion (the only time I needed shower) I had no hot water for shower. My daughter complained it switched from very hot to freezing cold and then switched back to very hot after 10 seconds. I considered the shower doesn't work at all. At the end we didn't take shower. Just use water to wipe my body.
2) The window is facing a wall that is 10 cm away. No view
3) The room is so small that barely can fit for 2 single beds
4) Wi-fi absolutely does not work in the room. My room chair was placed in the hall way. I figured the previous guests put it there to access internet because wi-fi is never not working in the room
5) Wi-fi only works 70% of the time. I have to agree with other guests' review.
6) Wi-fi doesn't work in the lobby. I only see "obtaining IP address".
we loved our stay , they were very helpful on everything , we had to go to Machu Picchu at 5 am and they even pack our breakfast to take with us ! great hotel !!
The room was verge, expensive, but that's probably the price for being so close to the station and main market. The location was excellent, few mins from the station and main bus stop. The reception service was excellent, they went out of their way to help us. Very happy and satisfied with the experience.
Great hotel if you bring some earplugs with you (which, in my opinion, every traveller should).
We did not experience any of the "wet bathroom" conditions found in other reviews. Everything was extremely clean and comfortable. The owner is a really nice guy who was immensely helpful. Location is superb (3 mins to train station and 5 mins to bus station). If you're leaving early in the morning like most people, you can take your free breakfast with you "to go"
More hostal than hotel but the staff is very pleasant and helpful. Rooms and lobby need more electric outlets, beds need updating and toiletries need improvement such as providing hair conditioner and body lotion. Wifi only works temporary and not in rooms at all. The breakfast was excellent and ready at 3:30am which was a nice touch.
Very near the train station, hotel staff was friendly.
It was a really cute hotel, clean and close to the city plaza. Staff was really nice and friendly but had a little trouble paying at the end. Plan on bringing cash.
Very pleasant stay. Very attentive staff. Breakfast was served as early as guests need, and was pretty good. Coca and muna tea all day, and the staff is helpful if you suffer from the altitude. Rooms were excellent, but no elevators, just stairs. Walking distance from train station entrance, roughly 7 minutes with luggage (I rolled mine), and about the same for the Machu Picchu buses. And staff is also available to pick you up. Tour guides came looking for me after I inquired about tours and they figured out where I was staying, and the staff was really good about maintaining my discretion and safety. It's a small town and some tour guides are like vultures! This is a safe place to stay. The noise is really not that bad, especially since there are no trains really at night when most people sleep. But yes, when they come by, you definitely know they're there, since it's right in front. Earplugs will help if you need to sleep during the day. This town was my favorite stay in Peru!
El Quetzal Hotel is clean which is important. A member of staff met me at the station. The room itself is nice. Unfortunately, the hotel is just across the road from the railway line and the river and as a result it is extremely noisy plus you breathe in diesel fumes. A dog kept barking in the evening and someone kept shouting at it. There has been no attempt to seal off the sliding doors on the balcony or to do any sound proofing. Wifi worked intermittently. The buffet breakfast was very poor - juice, fruit, not very appetising ham and cheese and some very dry pastries. I paid $70 for the night and this was very poor value for money.
Owner was very nice and helpful. Location is right next to the train station/train tracks, which makes it easy to get to. Be aware that there may be train noise into the night, especially if you're planning to sleep early. Breakfast was good and early enough for us to catch the first bus up to to Machu Picchu.
Owner was very informative with town, gave us good advice on restaurants and tips on proper etiquette in Machu Picchu. Don't go to hot springs they are filthy!
Listen to what owner says and make sure restaurants don't sock you with a town tax, arbitrary.
