缺少床頭櫃、空調強中弱風無功能、缺少插頭、牆面斑駁
Extreamly helpful !
My husband and I decided to go to Hualien for 2 nights. We did not book in advance and while he was driving I looked at different B & B and Hotels. When we got to the B & B we liked everything was locked. We drove around and later stopped at the Astar Hotel. Unfortunately it was a huge mistake.
1. The receptionists could not speak English.
2. We wanted to swim because it was very hot but after seeing the pool we decided to rather take a cold shower to cool down.
3. They did not serve any food and we had no choice but to go out for dinner.
4. The hotel was not clean, especially the foyer.
5. And the cherry on the cake was the BREAKFAST the next morning. The only thing they had for foreigners was cereal, but no bowls! When I asked the waitress in what we were suppose to put the cereal she gave me a CUP! A CUP?
The only positive thing I can say about this Hotel is that the old gentleman at the door was very friendly.
We enjoyed looking at all the wooden statues of Pacific island and aboriginal figures. We called then "uuga-buuga". It reminded us of stays in Hawaii.
Room had a superior view of the Pacific Ocean although it looked over the new bulk port, which is ugly. Oh well. Rooms are dated but still comfortable and sp are the beds.
Having a bathtub in a shower is wierd, but we were able to manage.
I wish the owners would make a nice garden and full-sized pool in the wonderful space they have.
Breakfast is in a very nice glass dining room overlooking the ocean. It is very nice.
This was an older hotel that showed its age as it probably hasn't been renovated for the last 15-20 years. We stayed here as my parents stayed here in the 1980's and it's close to the ocean. The rooms had a bit of musty smell and the elevators smelled like gas from a motor engine. However everything was clean and the breakfast was good. They also allowed you to rent out bicycles for free (for the first 2 hours) so you can bike along the coastal path. There's also a great tofu pudding place just up the street. In summary, this hotel is fine for a 1 night stay, but I probably wouldn't stay here if you want something more luxurious or modern.
This hotel looks great from the photo of the front view. The rooms are less impressive as furniture and bathrooms are a bit tired and needs some maintenance. As a small town hotel, it would rate a 2.5 star. Bathroom needs some grouting and cleaning.
The location is not great. You need to walk more than 1.5KM to the town centre or call to book a taxi. The walk to the night market is about 1.7KM. The in room amenities include a kettle but only 2 sachets of chinese tea - no coffee!
Breakfast is average and basic but avoid the peak when the Chinese tour bus groups are eating. The food gets depleted faster than the service stuff can cope! This hotel apparently is popular with the Chinese tours and mainly because the cheap rate, inclusive of breakfast is a huge draw.
The hotel is not so great for overseas, English speaking visitors as the reception cannot manage simple conversation in English.
The view from the breakfast restaurant is a bonus. It has great views of the beach and sea!
For a small town hotel and the so cheap rate, it is value for money.
we borrowed bikes for a quick ride around the city. however, we experienced unexpected heavy rain just an hour after we rode the bikes. Hotel called and insisted to pick us up for safe. their great service really lighted up our trip in Hwalien.
We stayed one night prior to cycling over the mountains to Pu Li. Whilst big and quite flashy the hotel is pretty basic. The rooms are ok and breakfast is adequate. There is no bar so the only place we found to meet up to chat is by the pool. To me, this isn't a place you would spend a lot of time in rather it's a night stop-over. The advantage it does have is that it is on the edge of town so easy access to the mountains.
We have just returned from a family trip to Hualien. We were 2 adults and 3 kids aged 7, 5 and 2. We chose the Astar Hotel as it was the starting point for the King Of the Mountains event that my husband was participating in.
Pros
- The best part of the hotel is the garden and swimming pool. The swimming pool is not large but it's in the garden with pleasant landscaping. Beware you have to wear swimming caps in the pool, otherwise you're forced to buy them at TWD100 each. Since none of the beaches in Hualien are suitable for swimming (due to the strong currents) we enjoyed playing in the pool in the late afternoons. The garden is quite large and there are some rabbits that the kids enjoyed playing with.
- Large family room with 3 comfortable beds (one of them a sofa bed) was a hit with the children.
- Waterfront location, tranquil, just outside the hotel there is the waterfront walk that leads to the town centre (half an hour's walk to the night market)
- Airport drop-off and pickup are provided (but there are time restrictions eg. morning after 8am)
- There is a games room with billiards, air hockey and table soccer
Cons
- Breakfast selection is not up to western taste or standard. Even the Asian fare was not high quality eg. the steamed buns had some small amount of indistinguishable meat filling, no butter is provided for toast (only jam, chocolate spread, coconut spread and peanut butter)
- The bathrooms were not very well cleaned, and the bath would be difficult to get into for someone with any mobility limitations because it was too high. The hotel provides a kind of wooden step but it was not good enough.
- The hotel provides very little in the way of service e.g. no onsite restaurant, no room service, very little information. The staff was mostly helpful but not particularly well trained to deal with individual travellers (I guess the hotel is more geared towards the coach tour tourists)
The decor of the hotel is dated but it has some interesting pieces of aboriginal art.
I was at this hotel 2 days ago. Checking in as late as 830pm, i was tired after a day of travelling. Upon entering the room, i spot a v big roach sitting on the sofa. The room smelled stale, i guess this explain where there are roaches around. Calling the customer service line, i was told they cant do much other than spray pesticide and was told by the staff roaches are common. Oh pls, this is a big deal which means your housekeeping is not well-maintained. I requested for a change of room and faced rude handling by the receptionist who just throw the 2nd room key on the counter and gave me a black face. Entering the 2nd room, likewise there is a bad smell. I couldnt sleep well at all for that night. Supposingly we should have a 2-nights stay in this hotel, i forgo the 2nd night fee and just wanna get out of this dirty hotel immediately.
There is not much special about this hotel. The location is out of the city center. The hotel was full of tourists. Tour buses filled up the parking lot in the front of the hotel. We stayed in a family room that was really spacious with a separate living, and sleeping area. The breakfast was nothing special. We avoided the tourist crowd by having a late breakfast. The staff in the buffet area were rude. They warned me not to pour coffee into my water bottle. I was trying to get some hot water, so that I don't need to boil water in the room. Even if I tried to get some coffee, what's the big deal? Honestly, this hotel is nothing special with bad service. Forget it.
