Mounda Beach Hotel

Mounda Beach hotel is a real gem! Wonderful Greek hospitality, stunning location and superb food. Even in the new ‘Covid’ world the levels of attention were excellent without compromising clients health and safety. Alex was brilliant, thoughtful and attentive with ourselves and our children and happy to recommend things to do and see. He was clearly proud of the Family run hotel and the experience clients receive. The family room was very spacious and tastefully decorated.

It’s a perfect place to really relax, the beach is a few minutes walk downhill and is very safe for children and one of the best sandy beaches we visited on the island. It is only waist deep even 50m off shore, so felt more like swimming in a pool and our children (9&11) loved it. Further north the beach has a few more rocky features and you will see more marine life, we were lucky enough to see an adult Turtle swimming and lots of nests on the beach (laying season June, birthing August)

We did not have a car to start as we just wanted to relax, we arranged an airport transfer with the hotel, they also organized car hire for us when we left, all at very competitive rates.

If you do want to do more, Skala is only a 5 minute drive away with lots of dining and activity options.

Good location for the money. Liked the easy walk to the beach! The latch on the door to our room was a bit sticky. Our mattress was a tad thin and lumpy.

Fantastic hotel - so relaxing and friendly. Lovely start to our honeymoon (stayed 2 nights before heading to Ithaca). Felt at home straight away thanks to Alex’s hospitality! lise to a lovely beach. Great food. Room beautifully decorated with modern furniture. Definitely recommend!

If all you want to do is relax and chill, this is the place for you.
This is our 3rd time at the Mounda Beach Hotel and hopefully we'll be back again in September. It's a quaint little (11) rooms family run business with the wonderful Alex leading the way. Nothing is too much trouble for him, and his banter and infectious humour and laughter make the stay even more enjoyable.

There is only one shop but Skala is less than 5 minutes away and the staff will gladly take you (and bring you back!) for a small fee.

The internet can sometimes be abit iffy, but don't take it personally. There's only one internet provider for the whole island so if your's goes down - so does everybody elses!

If you love authentic Greek homemade cooking, love nature and climbing, love a clean secluded beach then this is the place for you.

Immaculate and very well presented. Attentive staff but not overbearing. Great location, very quiet but near to other towns for places to eat etc.

We had a tremendous 4 day break at this lovely hotel, the service was second to none, the food wonderful, the whole hotel was super clean and the grounds were beautiful. We loved being able to stroll along the beach just a few meters down the hill. We would definitely be happy to recommend Mounda Beach hotel and hope to return soon. Thank you all for treating us so well.

Our 11-day holiday here in mid-September was relaxing and most enjoyable with perfect weather, close proximity to a long sandy beach, and use of free sun beds and pool at next door hotel. The hotel staff were friendly, kind and helpful, giving us lifts into nearby town of Skala and picking us up for a standard taxi rate; they also booked a boat cruise for us. Great breakfasts; several options of places to eat out within walking distance as well as lots of great places in Skala- can recommend The Flamingo! We will be going there again, requesting a sea view room next time, though our garden- view room was spacious, with secluded garden, and excellent daily room service.

The hotel i think was the most value for money and more i could book in the island. Wonderful view, amazing staff fascinating food. Family run business, you will get great hospitality like you are their guy. Our room was super, great seaview with double bed and an amazing balcony. Very quiet and peaceful place to spend your vacations. Special thanks to Teo and Teta for booking as also an airport transfer made by Gregory, a nice guy from the hotel. The beach is less than 20 seconds away, skala village is 5 minutes by car. We only went there for some supplies. We stayed all the days in the hotel. Reasonable prices in the menu and a big variety of choices will not make your appetite be bored of the same food. We really enjoyed our stay and we promise we will come back!

From the moment we arrived we were welcomed with friendly smiles and the owners couldn’t do enough to make our stay perfect. The view is fantastic and breakfast on the terrace every morning was lovely. Just a short walk to the beach which is sandy and shallow, ideal for children. You do need transport to get into Skala but the hotel will taxi you there for a reasonable price or hire you a car. We were transported to and from airport for half the price of local taxis.
Food is very good and we had delicious fresh sea bass, the best I’ve had.
Thank you to all the lovely helpful staff it makes such a difference staying somewhere you feel that they genuinely care.

Did not look like the pictures. Very old and did not feel clean. The owner/receptionist was too laid back and didn’t seem to care.

Staying at mounda beach hotel was an amazing experience! The staff are really friendly and the premises were fantastic! It's a lovely hotel very peaceful and very close to the beach. The food was exquisite - don't miss it! The view from the massive veranda is great! Will certainly be coming back

Peaceful and quiet in lovely garden surroundings, and so close to a fantastic beach! We really enjoyed our stay, and thank you to Alex who works so hard to help everyone!

Theodore and all the team at Mounda Beach were incredible.

We felt like we had come home from the start and by the end there really was a real family vibe.

They went above and beyond for us on so many occasions - from car pick ups, to day trips and even a special romantic meal for two delivered to our room! The service was truly wonderful.

The room was really clean and spacious with stunning views from the terrace.

The food was some of the best we had on the island and it was tempting to not eat anywhere else sometimes!

We would absolutely recommend Mounda Beach to anyone looking for a relaxing friendly and very beautiful place to stay.

PS Weather wise we were unlucky as it rained most of the time. We went in the last week of Sept so think about getting out there earlier in the season while the weather is at its best

Friendly family run hotel. Great views and within walking distance of a lovely sandy beach. The hotel is only a 10 minute drive from the interesting and pleasant resort of Skala in one direction and Kateilos in the other. Plenty of lovely tavernas in these resorts to choose from thanks to the lack of the fully-inclusive large hotels which have killed them off in many other Greek islands we have been to recently.
Overall a lovely holiday and we will definitely go back to Kefalonia.

Have been to the Mounda Beach Hotel 3 times in the past year. Each time has been a relief from the mononous food, pool rumba, screaming kids, all inclusive tripe served up in most resorts. This oasis of 11 rooms overlooking a magnificent beach is a reminder of how Greece was back in the 70's. Theodor and Teta are amazing hosts, nothing is too much. Want to get to Skala, no problem. Transport when you want it. Very nice Greek breakfast during which you are asked what you want for dinner. You want it, you get it. Again our thanks to Theodor, Teta, Gregorious and Ellana for another wonderful, relaxing holiday. 'I'll be back'.

Returned to Mounda Beach Hotel this September after our first visit in June. Once again it was excellent. Theodor and the staff were most welcoming and made us feel at home from the start. The room was clean and the air conditioning was very welcoming on the hot sultry nights. The food was excellent. The menu was varied, typically Greek, and of good quality. However, as with our previous stay you could order anything for dinner and Theodor and Mimosa would gladly cook it.
The beach was glorious, sea like a warm bath.
We will definitely be retuning.

we couldn't fault the mounda beach hotel, the staff were exceptionally helpful and friendly. from a query to car hire and lifts into skala town nothing was a problem.
The rooms were all very clean and fresh linen and towels every day with welcome toiletries in the bathroom all added to make our stay very enjoyable.
The use of the free pool in the next door hotel and free sun loungers on the uncrowded beach made it a perfect location.
breakfast or dinner on the terrace overlooking the sea was very relaxing, we hope to return soon.
