Amarina Abu Soma Resort & Aquapark

We have just returned from this resort after spending 2 weeks there with my mother. From the get go the staff were super friendly and welcoming especially Ahmed at reception.

The hotel itself is clean and well kept. The pools are nice and quiet with the beach right next to the pool beyond the snack bar. The rooms are comfortable, clean and have good quality showers.

The food I will have to admit is absolutely amazing. In terms for an all inclusive for the price range you simply won’t get better food and quite frankly having visited competitors like Intercontinental it blows it out of the water. The constant variety of the grill specials are amazing and at lunchtime every other day or so they will cook various meats on the charcoal and it is simply to die for (especially the shish tawouk & the chicken tandoori). We visited the a la carte restaurants as well and they were of a decent standard. The standout however was Chopsticks and would recommend anyone staying here to try this restaurant. The bar staff and general waiters are so friendly and work non stop ensuring everyone is well taken care of.

I will admit there are 2 drawbacks to this hotel. First being the location. There is simply nothing around to do and desert. If you are someone who likes to venture out of the hotel on an evening then this may not be for you. However, there is always something going on in the bars on the evenings whether it be sport or live music. Another drawback is the comfort of the sun loungers. They are metal and fixed in one position making them uncomfortable at times. What is strange is that there are the foam cushions available to be used but you specifically have to ask for them rather than them being automatically already on the sun loungers. Once we obtained the cushions they immediately made the comfort much better.

Overall, I would absolutely recommend this hotel to someone travelling to Egypt for its cleanliness, high quality food and friendly staff just bear in mind the lack of atmosphere outside the hotel.

I’m here now and I would rate this hotel closer to a 4-star at best, despite being advertised as a 5-star resort.

The hotel looks nice in photos, but in reality it feels a bit tired and not very clean in places. The rooms are large, modern, and comfortable, which was a positive and the bathroom was perfectly acceptable. However, there were no robes or slippers, which you would normally expect from a hotel of this standard.

The food is average. You will always find something to eat, but the variety is limited and repetitive. The snack bars and poolside food are extremely poor and not worth visiting at all.

The hotel also lacks basic service around the pools. There is no waiter service by the pool, and surprisingly, no bar next to the water slides. The hotel claims to have an “aqua park,” but in reality there are only a few slides, which is disappointing. The blue bar next to the slides is always closed and only opens briefly for ice cream, with the machine wheeled over, no drinks are ever available there.

One of the biggest drawbacks is the complete lack of atmosphere. There is no music, no daytime entertainment, and no real evening vibe, the hotel feels very quiet and almost lifeless. There is also nothing to do around the hotel unless you book excursions.

For families, this resort falls short. There is very little for children to do. The play area is poor, the kids’ club is basically non-existent, and overall the resort feels like it desperately needs a revamp.

We were also disappointed upon arrival as there was no welcome or greeting, which immediately set the wrong tone.

The shisha is overpriced at $10 and doesn’t even last half an hour. Another frustration was being unable to get small change anywhere, making it difficult to tip, which is unfortunate because the staff truly deserve it.

The staff are the absolute highlight of this hotel. They are incredibly friendly, hardworking, always smiling, and genuinely helpful. The service from staff is excellent, and without them, this hotel wouldn’t even reach a 4-star level.

Overall:
Nice rooms and outstanding staff, but poor atmosphere, limited food options, weak facilities, and misleading “aqua park” claims. This hotel does not live up to its 5-star rating and needs major improvements to meet expectations.

I visited the hotel twice, in 2023 and 2024. It was my first experience in Egypt and thanks to this exceptional place, I fell in love with the country. The rooms were sparkling clean and spacious, the food so good that I we sometimes went to dinner twice 😁 The a'la carte restaurants were really good, especially the oriental one. On our second stay we were treated with special care and we were given an upgraded room with a lovely pool and sea view. The Staff working in the hotel were amazing, But of course the brightest star in the hotel is Remon ❤️ He takes such care of the guests that I believe he is the reason why so many people return to this hotel, or like me, look for similar service in other hotels of the Amarina chain.

A really really nice and welcoming place. Lot of fun, lot of vibe and lot of warm welcoming from the staff all around from the entrance, through the kitchen and pools, even those who are on the beach.
It made us feel really welcomed and really loved seeing all the smiles around us at every step we took.

Great experience with the hotel! Food is very good and variate. A la carte restaurants are ok, with nice people to help. All restaurants experience very positive. They help you even if you don't give them tips. Rooms cleaned every day. Complex is clean, see is very good. Kids places ok. The complex is better than other Egipt experiences. Strongly recomand !

Nice hotel, lovely waiters in the main restaurant especially Shareef who was always super helpful and smiling, making sure everyone sat down with a smile on their face, good service, animation team was great too, could do with a bit more entertainment in the evenings as some evenings there was nothing for adults, but overall would recommend

The hotel is amazing — from the reception all the way to the beach.
The entire staff is extremely polite and respectful.
The restaurant and bars are great, the hotel is very clean, and the food is absolutely delicious.
The animation shows are wonderful, and the kids’ parties are lovely too.

Outstanding Stay at Amarina Abu Soma Resort – Beyond Expectations!

We recently stayed at Amarina Abu Soma Resort as a family of 9 people (7 adults and 2 children) in 4 separate rooms, and I can confidently say this was one of our best travel experiences ever in Hurghada. Although it was our 4th time in Hurghada, it was our first time in Abu Soma and at Amarina, and the resort exceeded all of our expectations.

From the very first moment we arrived at 07:00 am, we were warmly welcomed with professionalism and genuine hospitality. The staff greeted us with refreshing wet towels – a small but thoughtful detail that felt wonderful after the early flight and journey with children and luggage.

The check-in process was smooth, and we immediately received our bracelets and were invited to enjoy breakfast in the main restaurant while our rooms were prepared. The breakfast was a delight – a truly international buffet with a rich variety of fresh vegetables, salads, live cooking stations for eggs, international cheeses and cold cuts, pancakes, donuts, cereals, fruits, desserts, juices, and excellent coffee. Despite the hotel being busy, the restaurant team was extremely attentive and even managed to secure a regular table for us every day, which made our group feel extra special.

Our family room on the ground floor was ready shortly after. It was spacious, modern, and perfectly located just steps from the beach and pools. The design and cleanliness were impeccable, creating the perfect balance of comfort and convenience for families.

The à la carte restaurants are another highlight of the resort. We especially recommend the Italian restaurant, where everything – from salads and appetizers to pasta and main courses like pizza, steak, and fish – was absolutely delicious and prepared to a very high standard. The food quality throughout the resort was excellent.

The beach is stunning – wide, sandy, and perfectly maintained. The snack bar and beach bar offered plenty of refreshing drinks and snacks, while the animation team kept both adults and kids entertained without being intrusive.

A special mention goes to Mr. Ahmed, the General Manager, who was constantly visible around the resort, engaging with guests, and making sure everyone’s stay was nothing less than perfect. His leadership and the professionalism of the entire team truly reflect the high standards of this resort.

Overall, Amarina Abu Soma Resort delivers a 5-star experience in every aspect – from hospitality, food, and facilities to the warm atmosphere created by the staff. Our family and friends left with beautiful memories, and we cannot wait to return.

We had such a great time at Amarina Abu Soma Resort & Aquapark. The hotel is super clean, the rooms are big and comfortable, and the whole place is very well looked after.

What really stood out was the service. Everyone was friendly and helpful, and Mohamed Ramadan made sure our group was taken care of at all times. We were 19 people, which is not easy, but they managed to accommodate every single need without any problems.

The food was another highlight – always fresh, lots of choice, and really tasty. The location right by the Red Sea is beautiful, with clear water and plenty to do around the resort, whether relaxing or exploring.

It was honestly one of the best holidays we’ve had, and I’d highly recommend this hotel to anyone.
